We called this vet in the morning, got in to see the vet in the afternoon, and they took care of him much to our satisfaction. We could not have been more pleased with the attention and care shown to our feisty kitty. We can now enjoy the rest of our vacation and our cat is back to his normal spunky self. The receptionist/owner(?) said that if that were the case, I would have to come today at noon. I said fine and arrived on time. Flag #1 Receptionist/owner(?) was very unfriendly, didn't smile, gave no welcome, and was very difficult to understand (accent). The reception area overwhelmed me with aromatherapy, and it took an hour to leave my clothes/hair. Flag #2 - I brought in vaccination paperwork that any reputable groomer would ask for, and she only took a cursory look and said she did not 'keep paperwork.' Flag#3 - Contrary to what was agreed to yesterday, she said if I wanted express service for my pup, I would have to come back at 2 p.m. I agreed. Flag#4 - I arrived on time. They had obviously been busy. A quick peek in the back looked like an explosion of dog hair with a cute little dog still trussed up waiting for someone to complete its groom. My dog is a barker, and she made it clear she didn't like it. She asked a few times if he had ever bitten anyone, and I told her no, but I think he would if hurt. She brought him to the back, and shortly after, I heard my pup give 2 yelps like he was hurt. She came back out and said she thought he was going to bite and wanted to use a muzzle (never needed one before), and maybe if I went back, I could calm him. An older man was standing with him, and the pup was obviously in distress. Told them it was just not working out and left.

We are snowbirds in St Augustine for 3 months from Wisconsin. We had heard that Happy Paws Pet Grooming and Rita were absolute the Best Groomer in St Augustine. I agree that Rita is the Best Groomer in St Augustine. We have a mini schnauzer. Maddie is her name. She is almost 11 years old and needs a grooming every 5 to 6 weeks. Not only was this grooming the best cut Maddie ever had, but the grooming experience was also the best. From the reviews it was known that Happy Paws Pet Grooming was very busy, and we may not be able to make an appointment. Well, Rita went out of her way to get Maddie in for a grooming, Take the chance and try to make an appointment, it is worth it. Several other reviews here thought this was their mini schnauzer best cut. I would agree with them. Upon arriving, the first thing Rita and her assistant did was to kneel down to Maddie's level and gave her some loving. Most times taking Maddie to a new groomer will cause Maddie to show her fear by shivering. This did not happen with Rita, Rita put Maddie on a bed, not in a dog crate, while we check in. Maddie was ready to pick up is 2 hours. When we came back to pick up Maddie, she was on the bed, not in crate. Thanks Rita, for making this a pleasant experience for Maddie and us. I can remember having another groomer in St Augustine taking over 6 hours to groom Maddie. We were expecting a call after 3 hours. The call never came. We finally went to the groomer's business only to find a shivering Maddie just getting her grooming started. This means that Maddie was in a crate for hours before her grooming. Thanks again Rita for Maddie's best mini schnauzer cut and making Maddie feel welcome and comfortable when we arrived. You put Maddie at ease and you also put us at ease.

She was very responsive, caring, and reliable. She came to my house on the first session to meet Charlie, who is a 3 year old white schnauzer. He greed her as he always used to do (barking a lot and being protective of me). Rebecca changed his behavior right on the first session! It was incredible! She taught me and my husband what to do for Charlie to stop barking while he is in the balcony or when someone knocks at the door. She also taught us the right way to walk him w/o letting he pull us, and how to stop him to bark at other dogs. Me and my husband started to practice what Rebecca taught us with Charlie right away. A week later she came back and Charlie was already a different dog. He is more responsive, he is walking better and we are working for him to greed other dogs more calmly. Rebecca is also helping us to have Charlie socialize with other dogs. We went to a great dog park in Coconut Grove last week and the session was a success. I was so happy to see Charlie playing and being himself with other dogs. I do still feel a little nervous that he is going to be protective over me or do something towards another dog. My homework is to keep going to that park to have Charlie socialize with other dogs and I am going to keep doing that practicing all that Rebecca have taught me. I really appreciate her and I know I can count on her with her amazing professional skills and love for dogs. I one hundred percent recommend her as a dog trainer! You won't regret it.
