Things changed after the book came out (movie kinda explains why) and AVC became more large animals with pets being more a "side business". Yes the wait it usually LONG but you have to realize that is the nature of medical. It also says that a lot of people trust them with their fur babies. They have always been a "residency" vet for Texas A&M but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I have had to go to ERs for animals and had a huge bill for nothing more often than not. This type of restraint is absolutely unacceptable for an individual without any medical training to employ on my valuable, beloved show horse without my knowledge or permission. Chris also decided without my knowledge to stop putting hind shoes on my elderly thoroughbred, whose feet are inherently brittle and sensitive, and continued charging for a full set of shoes. Thus, I was paying thousands of dollars to have my horses' feet done and the horse was going barefoot the entire time. Now, his feet are in horrendous condition, as they have essentially disintegrated, and we continue to accumulate vet and farrier bills for the remedial work that my horse will continue to require for the foreseeable future due to Chris' negligence and selfishness. I reported him to the American Farriers Association, and he is not an active member, despite the logos that he uses to advertise for his "business services." I have since been told that he had to take the certification test 13-14 times before passing! Furthermore, he's very creepy and inappropriate despite having a wife and two small daughters. He added me on Snapchat and posted shirtless pics to his story that nobody wanted to see. He sent creepy, unsolicited text messages and was just super inappropriate. The first time, the emergency vet worked with them and they sent me updates and delivered the remains after a couple weeks. Unfortunately, I lost another cat the day before Thanksgiving. It was unexpected and traumatic and I had no idea what to do. I knew everything would shut down for the holidays and I would not emotionally survive almost a week with my dead cat in my freezer. I called Peaceful Pets distraught and asked if there was anything I could do. They were closing early, but said if I got there ASAP, they could take his remains. I drove over and they were so nice. Even letting me take a few moments to say goodbye since it all happened so quickly. I got my remains about 3 weeks later delivered to my house, which is so convenient. The packaging was wonderful. The pricing was reasonable and I appreciate the more environmentally friendly cremation service. I hope I don't have to contact them again for a very long time, but I recommend them to others for sure!

During the first week there Heidi drew a bead on his intelligence and stubborn nature and let us know that he would need a firm but affectionate hand. She did not let him get away with his reluctance to submit even though he was pouty about it. When we picked him up, we were amazed! He followed our commands during our training session and retained much of what he learned. We had to go out of town for a funeral and then a few days later he was neutered, so he had a disruptive week but has gone back to obeying most of his commands. He even stops at doorways though I forget he is supposed to do it. Petey does have a larcenous side and is a stealthy counter surfer. He needs to be watched carefully and we are trying to tame the bandit in him. Otherwise he is delightful and fun to be around We had a house full of company last weekend and Petey did great with everyone, including two boys aged 10 and 12. Everybody fell in love with our sweet, smart, well behaved boy! We are so grateful to Heidi and EJ for giving us our darling, smart and obedient Petey. I had a very disappointing experience with this breeder. I placed a deposit based on specific terms…read morethat were clearly communicated, in writing, and agreed upon. After the deposit was sent, the breeder changed those terms. When I was no longer comfortable proceeding and requested my deposit back, she refused to refund it, which ultimately led me to file a dispute with my credit card. Additionally, there were several inconsistencies and concerns regarding kitten care. Her website states that kittens are kept until 12-14 weeks for their "mental health," yet kittens are actually released at 10 weeks. She also does not perform fecal testing on the kittens or provide microchipping. Given the price being charged, it did not feel like the money was going toward comprehensive health care or best practices for the kittens. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise potential buyers to be very cautious, get everything in writing, and use your credit card. For anyone looking for an ethical and responsible Ragdoll breeder, I highly recommend Cajun Ragdolls in Houston. I've had an amazing experience with them. Anne is transparent, ethical, and clearly cares about both the health of the kittens and the integrity of the breed.
