Pet Pros at Westgate has been my "go to" place for all things feline for quite a while. The staff are always helpful and offer expert guidance with food and other supplies. This was particularly important with our recent cat adoption. Frank the cat had a difficult transition from what appears to have been a rather traumatic start in life. We had to try all sorts of things to get Frank to use a litter box; the Pet Pros crew showed true interest in getting this little chap adjusted. I didn't think I was the type to spoil my pets, but in looking at my reviews to yelp, I realize I've been to most of the shops in the area. So I guess maybe I need help: "Hello. My name is Jay, and I like to spoil my dog and cats." We've got some great independent pet supply shops in the area - fortunately, this Pet Pros is in Westgate, which can use a good supply store. If you need upper end foods for your furry friends, this shop will hook you up - they carry all major brands at competitive prices and do have a frequent buyer plan for their dry foods. While Wag and Lucky Dog really have more *bling* for dogs - you will find a decent selection of beds, toys and treats here for your pup. Probably one major difference would be they have more for cats here than the other, aforementioned boutiques. Another thing I like about this store is that they were doing a big promo/fundraiser for a local, no-kill cat shelter during the holidays. Definitely worth a stop if you need a treat or some kibble - stop in! read more

Wow..Do not shop here! My purchase was nearly $65 and i tried to pay with a $100 bill and the girl said, "I cant take $100 bill" I said, "Oh, Is that policy or do you not have change?" She then says "I dont have change!" She didnt even bother to look in the drawer. (It was only $35 in change) At this point another young lady comes around the counter and the two of them decide to just stare at me and say nothing! I continue to use my debit card.. This is my go-to spot for any of my pet related needs. The employees are always friendly and knowledgeable. I also love that they have the traveling vet that stops here. I recently ordered a bag of dog food that didn't show up the same day. This is unusual because they are normally super fast. I called the store to see if it had sold out or something only to find out it should have been delivered hours ago. They let me know that they would handle the lost delivery with postmates. They even sent me some food to get my dog through the night! They had a new bag of food at my door early the next day. They really went above and beyond. read more

I have been to Pet Pros several times now and my needs have always been met until my last stop there. I have two dogs and one is a puppy so they need to be on separate food and we changed our older dog's food too due to allergies. We were in the area of Pet Pros but the food that we normally had the puppy on was not sold here. I should have seen it coming but didn't because it hasn't happened to me in a while and that was aggressive upselling! I simply cannot stand it! I avoid places that do and since my shopping experiences were not long with Pet Pros yet I wasn't completely sure how all the staff behaves here. Since I didn't know what to buy our puppy with brands I was not familiar with I presented an open ended question of "What is a good brand of food for a puppy?" here. I only asked this question to the staff member Lisa after seeing that the brand we have for our other dog, Purevida did not have anything here that specifically said that it was for puppies. Lisa may have been a manager of the store or the owner. She certainly had the overconfidence of one. I had a long lecture of how " they don't sell crap" here and that "nutrition comes first". I was also told that all of their merchandise as far as dog food goes was wonderful. That was all very well and good but after picking out a brand that was within my budget to what I had the puppy on before I was almost immediately criticized that what I was selecting may not be good for her and may inflame allergies. Ok, so I KNOW my older dog has allergies but as far as our veterinarian knows the puppy has no allergies. As the interaction with Lisa continued I could see where this was going and I was getting pointed towards the highest priced merchandise in the aisle, maybe even in the store for all I know. So if everything is wonderful to feed your dog then I shouldn't have to worry as much as to what is best for my dog...maybe, you think? From freeze dried food to high end Canadian dog food....which apparently is the best out there. As I said I knew where this was going and I drew the line and said that there were too many options and that I need to think about it. I have to say that Lisa offered a bunch of free samples which was nice but I was so livid at that point by feeling like I was manipulated in what I would be buying that I really could care less and just wanted to walk out while all this was going on. While Lisa was bagging all of the free items I was asked about a frequent buyer card which I already had but she had trouble logging into the computer to access my information and once again was told that they don't sell crap and to " bring the puppy in and let us know what is working for herrrrr". I told her twice I was already in the system which she finally let that part of the conversation go and I left. I have no doubt that Pet Pros has good dog food. In fact the puppy loves the samples from the Canadian brand but got sick and threw up on another brand that she included called Merrick. She also loves the freeze dried dog food. Our little girl has expensive tastes. Lisa also sounds like she knows what she may be talking about but I probably won't be back due to the sheer level of obnoxiousness, manipulation and subtleties of potential guilt that I'm not a good dog owner due to what I feed my dogs. All of my dogs have been on Science Diet for years and I have had several vets over the years too and all of them approved of this brand that they were on. It was only recently that the older dog got switched to PureVida (a brand that the vet recommended) due to her allergies. Pet Pros is a good place merchandise-wise, no doubt about it but I suggest avoiding going in with open ended questions that may leave you absolutely irate and a 45 minute lecture. Chances are you won't run into that anyway unless it was this particular salesperson I dealt with. I'd check with your veterinarian as to what would be the best brand for your dog or cat and go in and keep it simple and direct as to what you need, get what was recommended and go. There are also other pet stores around town where you can get these high end, sophisticated dog foods as well and from what I'm told are more competitive in their prices too. read more

I have been here 3-4 times and have always been helped by very personable staff. I always come here for the dried sweet potato dog chew that also is okay for little animals. My guinea pigs and bunny love gnawing on that stuff. And I don't have to worry about feeding them chemicals, like the weirdly painted wooden chews at Petco. My dog is not food-driven at all. I have not been able to find treats that she will eat. The nice lady at the store gave me samples 5 different types of treats (salmon, turkey, etc) to take home and see which one she gravitates to. I thought that was an extremely nice gesture. My dog happily ate the treats after we came home. Finally, something that she gets excited about. So I'll be back for more. read more

This is definitely the place to go if you want the best for your pets!!! I recently moved to the area and I have a rottweiler and a maine coon. My pets are my babies and they usually eat better than I do haha :) I did some research on local pet stores and decided to check Pet Pros @ Westgate out. I'm not a fan of the big box stores and prefer to support local ones if I can. Lucky for me, though their store is new to the area, they are family-owned and they really know what they're doing. At Pet Pros, pets are definitely family. Dogs are welcome in the store and the staff happily greet my puppy and give him a treat and lots of petting when we come in. The staff is friendly and fun, they welcome any questions I have had, and they're never in a hurry to get rid of me. They take the time to get to know things about my pets and my lifestyle and check in with me when I come back in to make sure the solutions they suggested are working. They also remember what I buy so when something is on sale, they're sure to point it out because they are happy to help me get a good deal. Their selection of products is huge, as is their knowledge of foods, supplements, harnesses, toys, allergies.. so many concerns you may come in with. And even if they don't have a product I'm looking for in-store, they readily offer to order it for me if they are able to, or get it transferred from another one of their stores. They really cater to all your needs and concerns. I love shopping here because it's not just a hurry-in, hurry-out shopping trip. It's an experience for you and your pet. Their focus is not on sales or pushing you to buy only the most expensive things, but on customer service and finding the right solution for you and your furry friends. We were so excited when Pet Pros opened in Westgate! The (other store) in the area is dirty, the help is indifferent to customers, and the only other option is an out-of-the-way drive to Petsmart or Petco. I absolutely love our Pet Pros store! The employees are so friendly and helpful! They know us, and our Sphynx cats by name, and always welcome us with a smile. We take the boys up to visit occasionally, and it's clear that this is truly a pet-centric place. They stock only the very best foods, supplements, toys, treats and cat litter. They really have great customer service and go above and beyond my expectations every time I go in there. They carry out my big dog food bags to my car, they look up in the computer what I last purchased so I don't have to remember which brand it was if I forgot or my husband bought it. They have great prices on dog toys - a stuff-less squirrel for my beagle was $7.99 and I usually pay over $14 for them. They are very friendly and have great prices! This place is Flipping Awesome! The buying power of a box store and the customer service of a boutique store. It might not have that shi-shi look of a high end store when you first walk in, but the selection & the pricing ( as good as Amazon or better on some stuff ) let you know that it is... then the customer service kicks in and you know that it is that "old school cool & we stand behind everything we sell" Nordstrom kind of customer service that sets them apart. Unity & Riannon are outstanding! ( The assistant manager & manager). I have been shopping there for a couple of years & never had less that a positive experience.
