I just can't rave enough about Helen! I've been a customer for years and she's THE BEST! Everyone I recommend can't thank me enough!!! Yes, her cuts are by far superior to any other groomer I've used over the years! Her major concern is not me but my dog......! What is best for my dog! She gives me feeding tips, behavior tips and really loves these dogs as if they were her own. My teacup Yorkie was 1.5 pounds when I brought her in at 3 months and left her with Helen. She was terrified at first but I trusted Helen TOTALLY because I'd used her services with my prior angel Lucy. All the dogs she has in her house are friendly and would never hurt another dog....she makes certain of that! Luna my teacup Yorkie was not so scared at the end of a few hours....I picked her up and brought her back. She was playing and socializing with other dogs. The third time I took her back, the second we got out of the car she was pulling me to get inside!!!!) She doesn't want to leave! I can't blame her....there's lots of space for playing inside and a doggie door leading out to a magnificent Zen garden backyard!!!! It's clean and fabulously decorated for every holiday (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween....you name it!). She takes photos of you and your dog in costumes (mostly the dog!) which she so graciously supplies. I leave her there for Daycare and she loves it!!!! And when I go away, I feel secure leaving Luna with Helen for boarding because I know she treats her with love and like her own! She'll send me photos and videos which really make my trip!!! Most people can't believe my now 3 pound Yorkie is so well socialized....she'll go up to any dog when I walk her (PROVIDED I ASK IF THEY ARE ALWAYS FRIENDLY) and start giving them kisses! Why, the magic of Helen. It's great when your dog is good with people but to be able to enjoy and socialize with other dogs is sooooo important. Did I mention the beautiful room where the dogs sleep at night filled with fairy princess and plush doggie beds?! I could go on forever! When I see a review stating that Helen has restrictions and that she is arrogant it truly makes me want to SCREAM! Because she asks a lot of questions about the dog?!!! Their veterinary care? Their diet. Because she CARES about the dogs! She is one of the kindest, caring DOG LOVING people I know that is a true professional! I call her the real dog whisperer. Worst place ever! They did not follow the instructions for the cut, they did what they want. I sent them photos and told him how I wanted the cutout to be. I moved near the area I tried in that place but Im never taking Prada again to that "grooming". I am very jealous with Prada and if you pay for a service it is not to have a bad time and see a job that is totally different from what you asked for. I have passed this place driving down Miami Garden's Drive for over a year and kept meaning to make an appointment. The owner has these dog statues facing the road that she dresses up for holidays. At the moment they are Easter bunnies, but for St. Patrick's Day they were wearing green hats and sunglasses and during Christmas they were dressed as elves. Seeing these dogs is the favorite part of my commute to Aventura! I figured if this groomer takes such good care of her fake dogs she must take good care of real dogs, too. I could not be happier with Pet Poodle. As the name implies, they specialize in poodles and such but I called to make an appointment for my double-coated shetland sheepdog and was able to get an appointment that same day (Saturday). Normally these dogs are not trimmed, but I wanted my guy's legs trimmed and feet and belly shaved for sanitary reasons. I explained how I wanted him trimmed and even though she raised an eyebrow at my requests she proceeded to give my dog the best haircut ever! This was the first time in Miami that I have managed to get my dog groomed they way *I* wanted instead of how the groomer thought it should be done. The owner/groomer at this shop is so nice, and she really dotes on the dogs. There were several dogs there for doggie daycare and they all seemed so happy to be there. Even though this is a small grooming shop in a converted house, there is a definite level of professionalism that I appreciate. I also thought the price was very reasonable. It usually costs at least $75 to have my dog groomed at Petco but only $60 at Pet Poodle. Pet Poodle also did a much better job and the owner even offered to paint my dog's nails! But I won't lie, my favorite thing about this place is the dressed up dog statues outside. read more

Helen is amazing! We have brought our Miniature American Eskimo to Pet Poodle since we arrived in Miami in 2009, before she moved to this location. Helen is a dog whisperer, she is truly one of a kind. She not only is an excellent dog groomer but she also boards dogs for short and long term. Our dog, Cotton, is fairly high strung but after spending multiple occasions at Helen's she is honestly excited to arrive and play with the other dogs. She has a fenced back yard with dog and people furniture, the dogs after acclimating to Helen's are generally allowed to run around inside and out with private space available if they require it. She only accepts small dogs to my knowledge as we have referred several friends to her for boarding but their dogs were too large. Pet Poodle does day care, overnights and long term. We have taken advantage of all of them, with Cotton staying a total of about 2 months over the last 2 years at Helen's she has always come back happy, healthy and generally tired from running around and socializing with the other dogs, (even making some doggy friends). read more

Just a head's up for any large dog owners - they do not groom those dogs. Also will not take some mutts - up to discretion of the groomer. The groomer was pleasant to talk to and stated that the owner had restrictions on what dogs they allowed in. Sounds like a place for only smaller dogs. read more

I am extremely happy with our new groomer! Very honest and helpful with tips for our new puppy. Not only did we leave with our pup looking cuter and cleaned up but with awesome advice and tips. Helen did a great job grooming my girls today! Am new to the area and she was very helpful and kind. My husband grooms in between and she told me he does a pretty good job and and even told me to send him in so she can give pointers when he cuts her for maintance cuts in between her visits. Let me start off by saying I adored this groomer. I loved brining my dog to Helen because she always did a great job at grooming my dog. I also loved that my dog got to socialize with other dogs, which has always been the main attraction for me. However, my last visit here, I was charged for my dog to socialize with other dogs-- I was charged for the standard grooming ($55) and also for day boarding ($30)-- without having been explained that this was the new way. Since I first starting coming here in 2017, I have always paid $55 +tip for each grooming visit, and my dog has always gotten to socialize with other dogs during these visits. So I was shocked when Ignacio presented me with the bill-- he never told me that I would be charged an additional $30 for my dog to socialize with other dogs-- this was always a perk that he and Helen offered with their grooming experience!! I feel deceived that this was not explained to me in the slightest. I told him I wasn't expecting this price, so he said he would give me the "old price" this one time and knocked off $5......... uh what? I am so confused by all this. I had never been charged for boarding when I groom my dog, period!! I've been coming here for almost 5 years!!! I am a student who is on a budget-- it's a splurge for me to groom my dog for $55-- so to pay $80 for a visit is just ridiculous!!! I was shocked and hurt. My dog is less than 15 lbs!! My cockapoo, Rupert, had such a great time here, all while getting groomed. He looked fantastic when I picked him up, and his hair cut just keeps getting cuter and cuter as it grows out. If you're reading this, you're probably debating if this is a safe and suitable place to take your dog. Let me tell you about my experience here... Most of the time, if I have a negative experience at a business, I don't bother wasting time and energy to write a negative review. However, this experience is worth sharing to make people aware of who they are dealing with and who they are entrusting to care for their animals. I walked into Pet Poodle with the intent to leave my dog for daycare and for boarding while I travel as I have heard about this place through friends. I spoke to the owner, Helen, and was immediately put off by her negative attitude. After I asked about her day care policies and answered some questions about my dog, she began to belittle me and my dog by telling me that he needs to be neutered immediately and that I am not an animal lover...how can anyone make such a judgement about a CLIENT within 5 minutes of meeting them? Yes, neutering is widely recommended in America, but I have my reasons to not neuter him yet. If she had a problem with my dog not being neutered yet, all she had to do was tell me she could not take my dog in. Instead, she insulted me and completely disrespected me as a person with no regard to the fact that I could be a potential client that would spend thousands of dollars here in the future (after neutering my dog). If she treats humans this badly, imagine how she is with helpless animals (especially when she's having a bad day, which appeared to be the case today). I'm glad she was quick to show me this side of her before I left my dog with her for two weeks. Well, Lila, I think your bad review is misplaced. First of all, you said it in the first sentence-you hadn't had your dog groomed in 10 years. Helen probably had to work overtime just to get through the mess that was under your dog's top coat. I can't say enough good things about Helen. Her salon is clean and when my dogs board there, they are excited to see us, but in no hurry to leave. When I talke the dogs for grooming, they are happy when they see me pull into the parking lot. As for Helen's grooming, Helen is very accommodating, and she's almost like a Vet herself. She does have strong opinions, however, I find her judgement sensible and her opinions are the result of a long practice and a lot of research. I use Hollywood Animal Hospital. One of the founders is my Vet-he sends his dogs to her, so what does that say? I've neglected to brush my dogs on occasion, and the result is that they might scratch a bit after being groomed because they are somewhat tender. This is to be expected. The under coat gets tangled and it takes a lot of work to straighten it out. I used to show dogs-raised a couple of champions, and it takes a lot of work. I know a good groomer when I see one, and luckily, I found Helen. She came highly recommended, and worthy of the praise she was given. read more

I had the misfortune of taking my dog to Helens for grooming. Let me start by saying she is one rude person, she speaks to you just like she speaks to the animals. The place is not clean, there are dogs stepping in other dogs feces and urine. Then here comes this so called groomer with the dirties mop ive ever seen to wipe up. First and last. Horrific experience. In ten years I have never had a groomer cut my dog before. 2 days after we picked up our dog we found two large scabs and took him to the vet. Skylake hospital couldn't believe we had used them in the first place. Lesson learned so don't make the same mistake. They cut and infected our dog. The worst part about this was the owner did not apologize and was extremely rude. I felt compelled to leave a nasty review for the way she treated our dog and for how she handled it. I should have thought something was weird when I picked up my dog and there were 20 other dogs running around. It's like great clips for dogs. Best dog groomer I have ever had. I would never trust anyone else with my dog! She has the best hand for difficult clients. My dog isn't the easiest when he is getting groomed and she has never cut him or hurt him. Hellen is honestly the best out there and there's no one that can compare! She gives every pet the individual attention they need. At one point she carried him around because he wouldn't stop barking. Although she can be a little rough around the edges with the owners she means well and comes from a good place. Since moving back to Miami, my Yorkipoo has received some of the worst haircuts from other groomers. I found Pet Poodle on Yelp and made an appt on the strength of the reviews. Pet Poodle is a true gem. I could tell from the moment walking in that it would be a good place for us. Helen is terrific! She made me and my dog feel at home and paid close attention to her health, behavioral, and grooming needs! It is obviously a labor of love for her - she referred to her grooming session as a 'spa day'. When I came to pick her up, she looked terrific. The grooming was great, but beyond that, my pet was happy, calm, and the other dogs there were all in great spirit- there is no frantic barking and nervous energy in this place. She's so arrogant and rude!! I took my puppy today to have his nails trimmed and she gave me an attitude telling me that healthy dogs don't go to the vet! Lol are you kidding me? Why do you have to tell me all of this?! I just came for a service. She also told me that I shouldn't take my dog to be groomed at the vet and was so nasty about it. My Maddy is an almost 6 month old puppy and she loves Pet Poodle. I'm a first time dog owner, and Helen & her staff have been really helpful with tips and suggestions on how to take care of my pup. Maddy absolutely loves it here for daycare, boarding, and grooming, and cries when I'm unable to take her. Like another reviewer said: once I pull into Pet Poodle, Maddy runs inside and completely abandons me without a second look because she's so anxious to play with her friends. My dog is happy and healthy. The minute I entered with my cockapoo, Helen started accusing me of killing him slowly bc I sprinkle organic cheese on his organic kibble (as approved by a vet). She then went on to tell me that 2 small knots in his very curly fur are signs of a food allergy to milk. (PS I'm a physician- not a vet, but I should have listened to my heart that she was nuts). She doubted me when I told her that he never had an ear infection. This never happened to me at any groomer. Needless to say, my dog, who has never been sick (3yo) caught an eye infection there. Never have I ever felt so disrespected. I showed up there around noon. A young man opens the door and doesn't even say hi I look around and the whole place is dark and has a weird vibe, I wait for the lady to finish blow drying a dog and she says hello in an extremely rude manner from the way she said hello I asked did I need an appointment she looked at me and said yes in a very rude manner no where on yelp does it say that you need an appointment btw. Then she looks at my dogs one that I was carrying in my arms because I didn't have a leash for him and she points at him and asks what's wrong with that one, I was surprised she would think anything would be wrong with him so I put him down and he went to smell her and she rudely asked does he bite. I looked at her like no he's super sweet as he's smelling her and she also noticed that he wasn't neutered. She went to ask me why and that he should be neutered since he's not a brand name dog and that she will not groom him because " she loves animals" and in she thinks he should be neutered. I walked away as soon as she said that. There's ways about talking to people and she should have not spoken to me in that manner. We had heard great things about this groomer from friends in the neighborhood. I don't really like to write reviews but I had such a terrible experience I felt the need to share. My parents have 3 dogs and me and each of my sisters have a dog each. While my sisters and I were traveling for work my mother thought she would be nice and bring all the dogs (6) to get groomed. First of all I had already had a bad experience with this groomer years ago and if I had known that's where she was going, I would have let her know not to go. However she has been taking her three dogs there for a few months now. When I came home the next day to pick up my dog I felt something under his leg - it looked like a scary wound and was hard so I rushed him to the vet. The vet told me he had been cut at the groomer and looks like they had super glued it (note: apparently this is not as insane as it sounds.). Getting a cut at the groomer is not ideal, but also not unheard of. I would have hoped the groomer would have informed my mom what happened when she went to pick up the dogs as it may have saved me an emergency visit to the vet. Instead when I called the groomer to tell her what happened she denied it and told me my mom must have done it! I was in shock! Clearly the dog got cut when she was shaving them - which by the way she just shaved all the dogs instead of working out some of their matts and keeping the hair a normal length. She claims to groom up to 25 dogs a day which is why its probably easier to shave all the dogs, instead of spending time on them. Once we realized what happened to the first dog we inspected all the dogs throughly for cuts and nicks and another one of the dogs, a tiny yorkie, looked like someone skinned her under the chest- another emergency visit to the vet! I know Pet poodle has previously had a good reputation but I have not only had bad, truly terrible experiences, not only with the grooming but the owner who is rude and has denied everything. I am sure she will respond to this post saying something crazy because she is unprofessional and clearly hiring people who are not properly trained to get through 25 grooming a day. The way these dogs came home from the groomer breaks my heart and I just hope everyone heels OK and are not traumatized by the experience. read more

Someone knows how to groom dogs but needs to know how to respect people as well. I walked out. I don't care how good you are, how you talk to people is important. Within 30 seconds of walking in her building to which the purpose is to get my dogs groomed, I get "What kind of dog owner are you? When was the last time you groomed them? You know the female is a bit over weight? Don't pick the boy up. You're reinforcing his behavior." I thought I bumped into the Dog Whisperer on Adderall. Tried to tell her it's been a moment since the last grooming but they're well kept and see a vet often. "Why do they need to see a vet all the time?" I'm like, listen.
