This isn't my favourite of the Pet Planet locations. It could be because it's a little smaller than most, but I'd rather go to a different locations... I think. It would seem that this particular PP caters mostly to dogs, leaving not much for the cat owners in the area. There are waaay more dog food, treat, toy choices than there are cat stuff. This is unfortunate because I'm such a cat lover. They also seem to carry mostly food. There aren't a whole lot of toys, though there are some. Most, again, are for the pups, and seem to be treats as well as toys. They do have a lots of treats for the animals though, which is nice. This Pet Planet is also a groomers, which is great. It means that you can have your pet prettied up while you buy new food, litter, toys or treats. The staff are just as nice here as anywhere else, and don't hesitate to answer questions or offer a hand. A mediocre Pet Planet in my opinion, but I'm a cat lover so that's why I don't dig the abundance of doggie stuff! read more

This review is for the pet grooming service located in the store. I took my loooong haired cat in for his first shave, after his mats became utterly unmanageable. Given my own feeble attempts to shave him, I assumed Pet Planet might fail too. Thankfully, the groomer was able to clip his nails in less than 30 seconds, then efficiently proceeded to execute a lion cut. No fuss, no muss. No scratching or biting like he does with me. After the clippers, she deftly and impressively trimmed the legs with scissors in no time flat. I was in and out in just over half an hour! Dog service is usually slower though, I'll warn you. People usually bring in their pooch at 9am and dogs stay in cages between cutting, shampooing, drying, etc. until the late afternoon. They were are pretty quiet though, bemused by my shorn cat. The cat was relieved to be rid of the fur and so was I...$50 well spent! read more

Pet Planet - Cat grooming service - Pet Stores Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

I was after some balm for my pooches paws when I decided to check out what this Pet Planet carried. The store is quite big, larger than other Pet Planets I have been to. The girl at the til greeted me and asked if I needed any help. I told her what I was looking for and she pointed out a couple options. I decided on one that was all natural, made from honey. I looked around at the toys and found some unique ones I hadn't seen before, all at decent prices, $10 for a plush toy. They had a good stock of raw hide treats and bones. I asked her again about a good treat to help clean my dogs teeth and she pointed out one in particular that she likes. They don't carry much options for food, only a couple brands, though they do have some raw food too. When I was paying she asked if I would like to join their "club", which I did and got a free tennis ball! I like this location of Pet Planet for its stock of treats and toys. I would return here for basic pet needs, but it wouldn't be my first choice for food. read more

Absolutely love the staff here! Such great customer service. I have three cats that need special diets and since purchasing the products with advice from the staff, my little girls tummy troubles have come to an end. Can be a little expensive at times but honestly, it's so worth it knowing we are buying quality food and litter for our son and daughters. Plus we get a free bag of Origen every once in a while! read more

Awesome service, great inventory and I always trust them with information for my dogs and cats

I won't go in this location again. I like Pet Planet - but this location ( having been here twice now) has left me cold, and after seeing what I saw here - I won't go back. I was in here the other day and the older woman who works here was helping a 30 something-year-old guy buy stuff for his cat - it appeared he had never had a cat before and needed guidance and help. I watched this woman systematically sell him a ton of things - hey I get it, it is her job - and I understand he needed things, but having been a pet parent to 2 cats for over a decade ( and having had cats all my life) she was selling him some things he didn't need at all, and some things that would be rendered useless in just a few months. For example - a tiny litter box - suitable for a kitten, a tiny cat carrier, again suitable for a kitten.. she was selling litter box liners - everything you could imagine to this poor guy. As any cat parent knows it will quickly out grow both the carrier and box in a few months. I felt so bad for the guy. Here is the best part - I heard her say " I have never had a cat!" What?!! It seemed like she cared more about racking up a huge sale then giving him only what was needed - and unfortunately in doing so provided him ( or allowed him to select) products that will not be suitable long term. The selection at this store - like others however is good, but the service is where it really falls down - in particular the older lady who works there. While she may think she is efficient, she comes across as curt, impolite and insincere. I don't think this is in keeping with the Pet Planet brand - and with other franchises out there - I will visit them instead. read more

I have been buying food from them and had my previous cat groomed there (Brentwood store) for years. So I recently bought a water fountain for my new cat. The instructions were to keep it unplugged for a week and let your pet drink from it and get used to it, since once plugged it makes noise with the water flowing. This is what I did a couple of days after I bought it. Once I plugged it, it didn't work. I returned to exchange it after 11 days, but the owner refused. She sold me a broken item and she refused to exchange it or to reimburse me. I will never ever buy anything from that store. What a disgrace! read more

Great products, helpful staff!

I've been taking my dog for grooming to Tammy at this Pet Planet location for several years. It's mostly been an okay experience, and I've continued to bring my dog here because it is convenient. However, today I had a terrible experience here and I feel compelled to share it. Most importantly, I am concerned about the care of the dogs being left for grooming. I was informed today at 5pm that my dog was not finished being groomed (after 8 hours!). I expressed concern that my nearly 11 year old dog had not had a bathroom break all day while waiting in the kennel to be groomed. The store manager informed me that it wasn't a problem - the dogs simply urinate on themselves or in the kennel and then the groomer washes them off. "It happens all the time. " This is unacceptable and cruel for any dog. Secondly, I was treated quite rudely. When our dog was dropped off in the morning, we were told that we didn't have an appointment, when in fact, I had booked one over the phone the week prior. I double checked my calendar. The groomer said she could "squeeze" our dog in. When I mentioned this scheduling error at pick-up, I was told there was no possibility they could have made a mistake and I must have made an error. We reviewed their calendar and they realized that they had scheduled my appointment in the wrong month. Mistakes happen, but I don't appreciate being blamed. I will not be bringing my dog back to this Pet Planet, nor will I be purchasing anything from this store in the future. read more

I have lived in the area for years and seen this store go through ups and downs in terms of customer service and product availability. For the past few years, this was not an ideal place to shop, as the staff was mediocre and product mix less than ideal. However, the store is under new ownership and is now a better place to shop. The current staff are more knowledgeable, and I feel fairly satisfied when shopping there. They also have grooming, and it seems incredibly busy. This store has gone through a transformation in recent months. read more

Pet Planet is a Boutique store and unfortunately they do not stand behind their merchandise. We just purchased Natural Variety Raw Beef Patties and it was obvious when we opened the bag the patties had severe freezer burn. Once they are thawed, they are sticky and difficult to cut. However when we called them they refused to take the patties back or help us in any way. They said they could not take back a bag of food once it had been opened. Unfortunately the bag of raw beef patties set us back $19. We did not want our money back, we simply wanted the patties replaced. read more

I have boarded my dog at Pet Planet Spa, Calgary on several occasions and until the last visit I had been generally satisfied. On the last two week stay I had reason to believe that my dog was not fed the food that I had supplied, but given a chicken based product which I had indicated would not be agreeable. I expressed mt concerns to the manager who agreed to review the situation. Three weeks later I have still not received any explanation, I suspect inadequate attention to individual pet care needs and thus would not continue to take my dog to this company read more

My dog received three infections from getting groomed at Pet Planet Brentwood location. The owner is very judgemental when approached about it and not once accepted responsibility! Use extreme caution, as all the grooming is done behind closed doors. read more
