Pick up time, nails done too!
Katherine C.

Our energetic boy Banzai has been staying here for almost 2 years and this is his favorite Pet Paradise as he is very well taken cared of by Molly, Georgia and the rest of the gang. On the last visit, he got his nails trimmed for only $10 and looks really good as we have a hard time getting him to stay still at home if we do it. As always, we are very grateful for Pet Paradise University as they really love our fur babies :)

The dog bite

My dog stayed here from June 7th 2024 till June 15th 2024.... Worst experience ever!!! I felt safe bringing her here after I felt the place I was brining her wasn't the best well let's just say I would have rather brought her to the other place. On June 12th I received a call that my dog was injured in the yard. When I spoke the managers said my dog was just running around playing with another dog and she ran past another dog with her friend and the dog charged my dog and bit her ! They had no vet on site so they had to transport her ALL THE WAY TO WORLD GOLD VILLAGE!!! The way they made it sound was like it wasn't that bad it's pretty bad.... They offered to pay the vet bill and did and should bc obviously wasn't my fault they let aggressive dogs in this place. We ended up canceling our trip early and came home a week early and lost out on $600 worth of plane tickets... then when I show up to get her I was made to pay for my stay $480 plus they even charged me the $20 late pick up fee AFTER all this happened to my dog! A good business wouldn't make you pay for your dogs boarding after this happened. That would be like me owning a business and breaking something of someone else's or damaging it and still making them pay for it. HECK NO I WOULD COVER EVERYTHING!!! The vet bill and the stay.... So here I am with an injured dog and I'm out $500 for a crap stay at this place and $600 in plane tickets I couldn't get my $ back for.... I'm so very upset . I will add the ONLY good part about this was a manager named Adair she was absolutely amazing and so helpful till we could get to our baby other then that making me pay for a stay after my dog was injured in y'all's care is sooooo unprofessional. UPDATE they called and refused to refund me my $ for the stay and didn't make the owners of the dog pay for my pet's injuries but made me pay for my stay after everything that has happened. after it's now cost me extra $ at my vet because I don't trust bringing her back to that vet or place! I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE EVER!!!! Ohhh and I was asked to change my review because "sometimes in the heat of the moment we say things that we don't mean and aren't fully true" lol ALL OF THIS IS TRUE AND I WILL KEEP IT AT ONE STAR ! If I could give negative stars I would!!!

New Playmates!

Our buddy Banzai loves it here! (He barely says bye when I drop him off) He has been to multiple locations such as Oakleaf, St. Augustine, Lakeland and other locations, I guess because he is biased as he is from the 904, but real talk he really does feel more comfortable here. On his last stay over the weekend, he finished his bowl as usual, we call him the most consistent "Clean Bowl Club King at home, better than his brothers who are somewhat messy eaters lol He made new 4 friends during his stay with Sadie, the Golden Doodle, Hulk the St. Bernard and Zeek the Chocolate Lab. We are very grateful for the squad, from Molly, Kristie, Georgia and the rest of the gang (They are always running around as it so busy!) especially these past few weeks as it has been colder during the peak of winter, as the staff accomodates the pups to stay warm. Brrr! We will definitely come back and will continue sharing our experience with our family and friends, as the staff really does genuinely take care of our boy as he meets and plays with new amigos during his stays at Pet Paradise University :)

Dirty fur

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I dropped my dog off at 9:30 am for vaccinations and grooming. I had to call the office at 5:30 pm to find out if Hendrix was ready. When asked, the response from the person answering the phone was "yeah he's ready". Why didn't anyone call me?! Upon picking up Hendrix, I noticed he was dirty. His ear fur still had the same little matted area underneath that he had when he was brought in. His eyes weren't cleaned and he smelled terrible. It was so bad that one of the employees ran to get her manager after smelling him. If he wasn't groomed, WHY WAS HE THERE SO LONG?!? I never received any paperwork regarding his bordatella vaccine. Even AFTER I requested it at 1030 this morning while talking to the vet hospital receptionist. I was charged for grooming which my dog never received. I was charged for a vaccine that I truly can't say he received either. The resolution from management was to inconveniently reschedule to see another groomer and someone will be in contact with me regarding his vaccine. VERY DISSAPOINTING!

I dropped my pup off to stay overnight while on a work trip. I checked in multiple times to see if he was playing outside. I did not see him playing outside which prompted me to call pet paradise. No one answered or returned a voicemail. I think saw my dog on the cameras limping and not running which is very rare for him. After still not being able to get ahold of anyone my dad called in and demanded to speak to a manager. He was informed that my dog good morning favoring his back legs. I demanded that he be brought inside and have his paws looked at. They had mild bleeding. When asked why he wasn't brought inside sooner or a return call was made to me I was told " we've had over 110 dogs checked in today" that is a bull shit excuse! I made a reservation and I trusted my pup to be looked after. I'm incredibly upset at the outcome. It has taken a few days but my pup is finally walking regularly again. Do better.

Yes, your dog's "room" may include a patio with a view of the bone-shaped pool

Sometimes I wish my pup could talk, I'd be curious to hear her honest opinion of her boarding stay and how she was treated. Since that's obviously not a reality, Pet Paradise will at least provide a "PAWgress Report" to tell you what your furball did & did not do while on his/her mini vacay. For example, we were curious if she dared to take a dip in the bone-shaped pool and her paw report included that info (apparently, she was NOT interested in the pool). My kids loved the report! I completed the registration over the phone which shortened my drop off time. The person on the phone was extremely pleasant & even informed me of the referral program. As a result, my pup's first overnight stay was completely free because I mentioned that a coworker recommended PP years ago. That coworker even earns a free night too! Additionally, during registration, I was told which shot records were required and it turned out I was missing one. I was able to take care of it through my vet but PP also confirmed they had a vet on-site on a certain day if I wasn't able to get it squared away at my vet prior to my boarding date. Anyway, my own (human) observations were that the facility is very clean inside, staff is very friendly. The day of drop off, I also filled out a quick, 1-page "get to know your pet" questionnaire which just detailed her history of interaction with other dogs, people etc. As an added bonus, Pet Paradise also gave me a call a few days after my pup's visit to see how she was doing. I've boarded years ago at a different facility and don't ever recall getting a follow up call, so I thought that was a nice touch. I also remembered PP because there was a Yelp event at this venue a few months ago (before I even had this puppy) so that fact definitely helped ease any concerns about reserving at PP versus another facility closer to my house. Thanks, Matt & Jax Yelp! I liked that PP was able to accommodate a last minute reservation request and they'll likely be an option for any future boarding needs.

Making our pup who was a bit too small for the pool feel included in her life jacket

I cannot say enough good things about this location. We have been bringing my pup here since she was a pup. The staff here goes above and beyond and clearly loves animals. I've used both the daycare and boarding for my dog. We love the daycare, extended hours, and when we pick our dog up she is TIRED. Boarding is fantastic too, the cameras to watch the pups during the day is a great aspect.

I've never had to board my dog before and was worried. There was absolutely no need and I highly recommend this Pet Paradise to all dog parents. The place is beautiful, clean, and looks like a people resort. The workers here are kind and very in tune with dogs. They had an extensive talk with me about Tony Elliott (my rescue dog) to learn about his likes and dislikes, etc. There is both a website (free) and an app (small fee) to view your pet while she or he is there. They also post pics on Facebook (with your permission). Tony Elliott stayed for 3 days and I believe he had a great time. I am relieved to know that I have good safe place to board him next time I have to.

I've been taking both my dogs to the University Location for the last three years. I absolutely love the staff and they treat my dogs like family. I love when they take pictures of them and send them to me.

Oliver! (On the right)

My dog loves it here! He goes 2-3 days each week for "day care.". He's happy jumping out of the car and happy when he's coming home. I love the days he goes swimming. He jumps in the water, chasing the balls. Best part - he comes home tired and happy . And that makes me happy. Staff are super helpful. They always great us by name. Thank you Pet Paradise!

I am in Jax for extended stay, but still a temporary visit, and I wanted my dog to have some sense of normalcy by continuing to go to daycare like she does at home. The owner talked me through the forms to sign, which is on me for not reading it myself, because she did not at all mention that I was signed up for auto-billing so I was shocked to see a $428 charge for daycare when my dog didn't go to daycare once on the initial 1 month package I signed up for. The fact that I had to reach out multiple times before getting any acknowledgement is a super disappointing experience given how friendly and "transparent" the owner is to prospective customers. I will note the reason I didn't end up taking my dog there even though I had purchased a package is because it is standard at all Dogtopia's that dogs are crated for a 2 hour window everyday, and the place I take her at our permanent home is a crate-free environment so two hours in a crate every day would not be a good experience for her.

WARNING: AGGRESSIVE dogs are placed with anxiety and non-aggressive dogs by SIZE! Due to staff lack of experience and knowledge, King was harassed repeatedly by aggressive dogs (watched one incident on camera). A worker (white pregnant female) placed King "in time out" because he defended himself after an antagonistic dog repeatedly kept trying to "hump him" according to her statement on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Common sense care is limited to verbal conversations. Oncoming staff as next shift will NOT read chart/paperwork/computerized records to determine special needs. Instead, rough play as pack initiation "all day" is permitted. Apparently, their responsibility is limited to feeding and cleaning the area while observing activities. Weekend tech was adamant, defensive, oblivious regarding her error and unwilling to accept responsibility for her actions and decisions. During our conversation, reciting her statements back to her several times was required until she understood care was negligent. Conversations similar to parent speaking to a pre-k daycare assistant who proudly abused discretion without justification. The entire conversation was strange and horrifying with no idea what would occur until I arrived almost 48 hours later. On Saturday, October 26, 2024, King was placed in a "10x10 room to play with toys alone with a bowl of water." I specifically asked, "was King injured?" Her response was "no." We agreed (and requested) that King remain separated from other dogs until pick-up for his safety and "prevent injury". Upon arrival on Monday, October 28, 2024, King was in front area (entrance) with larger dogs that were "his size". Perhaps, this was the only way to protect him from the "back-end" employees and dogs. At home, more horror was discovered. After bathing and grooming, his body and mouth were checked. King's lip and two teeth were bloody and swollen. His right eye is constantly secreting yellow mucus. His mouth was sore to touch on right side. He couldn't eat. His appearance and countenance resembled a child that was mentally broken, neglected, beaten or punched or kicked and abused. He looks fragile from weight lost or dehydration. NOTE: 12 cans of dog food were provided, Beach boulevard facility was contacted immediately. Daytime employee suggested King hurt himself by purportedly "chewing on kennel and bruised his nose and lip" as a common reaction to anxiety. However, she "don't know what happened on the back-end" and she was "not present yesterday [Sunday]. Furthermore, his nose is fine. Separation anxiety usually accompanies an inability to socialize amongst aggressive dogs. King's limitations were previously disclosed in WRITING and verbally communicated to the manager and two AM workers on Friday (October 25, 2024). Management not present weekends. Inexperienced staffers run the entire operation with little to no compassion, training and resources to accommodate animals with special needs. Addressing concerns via telephone and website email caused King to be subjected to abuse and neglect. Yes, he was "happy" on Friday when left with management. When I returned on Monday, October 28th, King had a swollen lip with two bloody teeth, right eye secreting mucus from injuries and a broken spirit. He won't respond as himself, he's distant and constantly pulls away when attempting to touch him ...
