Emmy is very high maintenance but Amanda will do everything and more with no complaints. And for a very fair price. Emmy loves going to Amanda's because she knows she will be cared for and attended to. Amanda knows each dog by name and personality, and she is always patient, attentive, and professional. She will send photo updates throughout the day so I can see our little Emmy having fun with the other dogs. Amanda's space is clean, safe, and spacious for all dog sizes. Emmy always comes home tired but happy which is great for her and us. I can't recommend enough.

WARNING: Management and staff post fake reviews to keep ratings high. Read reviews very carefully…read moreto determine the truth for the safety of your furry family member. Weekend Boarding and PM Staff at Happy Hound Dog Resorts (HHDR) at Beach Boulevard is HORRIBLE and NOT recommended for SPECIAL NEEDS DOGS! CAUTION: Personnel is inexperienced with no compassion, patience, knowledge or education to care for special needs dogs despite website advertisement. HHDR is NOT suited for dogs with special needs such as separation anxiety. WARNING: Worker's performance resembles unsuccessful daycare employees who decided to change career paths. Entry level employees with little to no experience caring for animals would not accept responsibility for their neglect, inadequate training and inability to care for multiple dogs. The customer, your special needs pet or other dogs in their care are blamed for any and all incidents. CAUTION: Read waiver thoroughly before signing and leaving your vulnerable furry family member! WHY? As stated, Happy Hounds Dog Resorts (HHDS) accepts ANY dog that is not sick with requested vaccinations. HHDS is NOT responsible for any injury to your dog even when management, employees, volunteers or contractors are liable. WARNING: AGGRESSIVE dogs are placed with anxiety and non-aggressive dogs by SIZE! Due to staff lack of experience and knowledge, King was harassed repeatedly by aggressive dogs (watched one incident on camera). A worker (white pregnant female) placed King "in time out" because he defended himself after an antagonistic dog repeatedly kept trying to "hump him" according to her statement on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Common sense care is limited to verbal conversations. Oncoming staff as next shift will NOT read chart/paperwork/computerized records to determine special needs. Instead, rough play as pack initiation "all day" is permitted. Apparently, their responsibility is limited to feeding and cleaning the area while observing activities. Weekend tech was adamant, defensive, oblivious regarding her error and unwilling to accept responsibility for her actions and decisions. During our conversation, reciting her statements back to her several times was required until she understood care was negligent. Conversations similar to parent speaking to a pre-k daycare assistant who proudly abused discretion without justification. The entire conversation was strange and horrifying with no idea what would occur until I arrived almost 48 hours later. On Saturday, October 26, 2024, King was placed in a "10x10 room to play with toys alone with a bowl of water." I specifically asked, "was King injured?" Her response was "no." We agreed (and requested) that King remain separated from other dogs until pick-up for his safety and "prevent injury". Upon arrival on Monday, October 28, 2024, King was in front area (entrance) with larger dogs that were "his size". Perhaps, this was the only way to protect him from the "back-end" employees and dogs. At home, more horror was discovered. After bathing and grooming, his body and mouth were checked. King's lip and two teeth were bloody and swollen. His right eye is constantly secreting yellow mucus. His mouth was sore to touch on right side. He couldn't eat. His appearance and countenance resembled a child that was mentally broken, neglected, beaten or punched or kicked and abused. He looks fragile from weight lost or dehydration. NOTE: 12 cans of dog food were provided, Beach boulevard facility was contacted immediately. Daytime employee suggested King hurt himself by purportedly "chewing on kennel and bruised his nose and lip" as a common reaction to anxiety. However, she "don't know what happened on the back-end" and she was "not present yesterday [Sunday]. Furthermore, his nose is fine. Separation anxiety usually accompanies an inability to socialize amongst aggressive dogs. King's limitations were previously disclosed in WRITING and verbally communicated to the manager and two AM workers on Friday (October 25, 2024). Management not present weekends. Inexperienced staffers run the entire operation with little to no compassion, training and resources to accommodate animals with special needs. Addressing concerns via telephone and website email caused King to be subjected to abuse and neglect. Yes, he was "happy" on Friday when left with management. When I returned on Monday, October 28th, King had a swollen lip with two bloody teeth, right eye secreting mucus from injuries and a broken spirit. He won't respond as himself, he's distant and constantly pulls away when attempting to touch him ... Similar to a child subjected to abuse and returned to the parent as alleged abuser(s) blame the child and parent.

They give me a general recap of how my dog was or if anything happened during his visit. It seems to be organized because of the way they communicate over the walkie. The dogs take turns in different rooms depending on the size of the breed. My dog is 20 lbs so he stays with the smaller dogs. They rotate between 2 or 3 different areas so that they're not stuck in one room for the whole day. I don't know much of their procedures, honestly. But I do know that they give the dogs nap time. I have seen reviews where some owners' dogs receive some type of injury or they found their dog to be in the crate because of an "argument". However, I haven't had much of a problem with that yet. I enjoy bringing my dog here. I do wish they had multiple locations.

I'm really not sure what happened... but we will not be taking our dogs back here again. We will also make sure to let folks know that they should look elsewhere for day camp and boarding needs. If you're considering giving them your patronage, read this first. To give a little context, one of our dogs is anxious and chews their crate pads. What has occurred in the past is we get home and less than 12 hours later our anxious chewer pukes up handfuls of HARD plastic. They get crated during 12-2p for 'cleaning' so they turn the cameras off and we've been unable to catch this negligence in action. We've called and tried to figure out what's happening in respect to this issue, multiple times, since it's a recurring issue. Most recently we had to board them a couple nights and when we picked up the dogs, lo and behold the same issue (see pic). We had to board them from Friday to Monday 7-19-21, the picture is from Tuesday 7-20-21. While we appreciated the responsiveness, they completely deflected blame. Yes, they apologized but proceeded to tell us that it's "new staff" and "we have to remind them every time" just like "if they were our toddlers." Since this was not the first, second, or third time this happened we had assumed this was an action that should've occurred already. A last final follow up on the occurrence from Tuesday was a text saying they decided they were removing the crate pads. See pic of text. We have given them too many chances and that's on us. We had to take them in during the day Thursday 7-22-21 due to construction on the house. We were fooled into thinking they would remedy the situation immediately. Cue me waking up at 5:30a to take out the anxious pup so she can puke up. What was it? You guessed it, black hard plastic crate pieces. Which could cause some major health problems, and endangers her health. We have seen the staff completely ignoring the dogs, texting instead of paying attention, and have had them come home smelling like they were stuck in a room with too many dogs and no cleaning. We kept going back thinking these were all flukes. The owner was right, we DO need to treat them more like our toddlers because we should have NEVER have gone back. We have been too trusting and listened to words instead of letting the actions of the people who "love them like they were [their] own" speak for themselves. Maybe the franchise is OK but this location is not. A final note: I just spoke with a manager who took a look at their file for me and confirmed it did indeed have a note re: specific dog not being able to be crated during lunch. The date on this note: MAY 20, 2020.

When I picked up my 10lb small dog back in June, he reeked of urine. They gave me wipes to clean him up as well as a bunch of excuses. No big deal right? Well six weeks ago I took him again, thinking it's been a couple months for them to reset. This time, I watched on the camera. Suspecting this was urine (see my pic) I went and picked him up. He smelled absolutely disgusting. I went through six wipes that were turned completely yellow just from cleaning his feet, I should have photographed them on the counter. You guys, they are not taking care of our animals! The manager actually said to me, "This happened the last time you were in here." I asked about no one being in the room, she said short staffed. I asked about the urine, she apologized. I asked about the play equipment being removed, she said it just keeps breaking. I have requested the owner call me, nothing. A colleague experienced the same with her pup and she met the owner one evening at 5:30. Same attitude I got from the manager. She gave her my contact info directly, still nothing. They owe me a couple hundred dollars for prepaid services because I will never go back here. Please be the voice for your animals they don't have. --------update------ The day after I posted this review, the owner called. She indicated she was unaware of this situation and apologized. She also refunded my 5-pack. She said she would pull the tape, review and go from there. I added one star to my review because she did the right thing.
