Was very disappointed in staff, they were not excited to see my dog. After 4 dogs are crated.

On our visit prior to boarding our girl for a few nights, we were given a tour of the sleeping area and play yard. Facility staff was pleasant and welcoming. Our Lyla was never boarded before, so we were bound to worry about her. When we picked her up, she smelled horrible and wasn't herself. We took her to the Vet and she was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. The Vet said her behavior was probably due to separation anxiety. Clearly, staff didn't give her the TLC that any distressed dog deserved. read more

Wow, I'm just so impressed that this place managed to turn a simple dog boarding experience into a medical emergency. I mean, who needs a vet when you can just let the staff at this pet lodge handle it? And the fact that they have no policy on animals getting hurt in their care is just the cherry on top. Oh, and let's not forget the lovely aroma that greeks you when you walk in. I'm just so grateful that I got to experience all of this with my two German Shepherds, Bella and King. King, by the way, had to have his tail amputated after they 'took care' of him. What a wonderful place. Can someone please shut it down already? read more

I will never bring our dog to the Pet Lodge of Clifton Park again. Our normal care for our dog was booked and we were in a little bit of a pickle. We contacted them and they were able to accommodate. We visited the facility and the staff seemed very nice. We left there feeling comfortable that our dog would be OK while being boarded there.. when we dropped our dog off, they were so excited to see her and thought that she was very cute and friendly. We left on a good note.. when we return to pick her up, the staff went back to get her came out with her bag almost full of her food, which I measured out and also added two extra days just in case . She told us that she didn't eat very much. We were gone for five days. When they brought out her blanket and her toy, it smelled of urine and so did our dog. We immediately gave her a bath when she came home.. since it's a Sunday night. I will be calling them first thing tomorrow morning. After reading all the reviews here I am disappointed that I did not read these reviews first. I will never bring our dog to this place again and I will never ever recommend this place to anyone.. if I could give it negative stars I would. read more

Boarded two dogs for 5 days for vacation. When we came home two days later our dog is very sick with kennel cough.

I've been bringing my dog to Pet lodge for almost 3 years now. The staff is very friendly and welcoming to both humans and K9s alike. My dog gets so excited when we pull into the drive way. I know he is well taken care of while he is there. Like any animal boarding facility, the risk of catching an airborne sickness like Kennel cough is almost inevitable at some point, but they do take measures to ensure that animals coming to their facility are up to date with shots and immunizations in order to lower the risk of animal sickness. Just like humans going to daycare, dogs going to daycare run the risk of getting sick too. It happens- the benefits of sending our dog to have a great time playing all day far out weighs the occasional vet visit should he catch the occasional cold from time to time. read more

Goose had the best time at the Pet Lodge today. Stefanie was so happy to see him when he arrived and he felt so welcomed when we they brought him into the area to play. I was told he got along with the other dogs and that he had a great time! We also got him groomed while he was there and Cheryl was very intentional to make sure he looked amazing and exactly to our liking. He looks incredible and we know Goose can't wait to go back! read more

Pet lodge is a great place to bring you pups, they get to romp around all day and play with friends under the supervision of a few very talented staff members. Everyone is always happy to see the dogs as they arrive, and they always get a treat on the way out the door! read more

Our dog has been going here to board for a couple of years without incident. But the last time she was boarded, it was a nightmare. Our dog is not good with other dogs, which we have always made VERY clear. Which honestly is irrelevant since dogs in boarding should not have contact with any other dogs unless they are participating in the doggy daycare. But I digress... On the second day of our vacation, we received a phone call telling us that our dog had been in a fight with another dog. Apparently our dog was let out into a yard by herself and the worker forgot which yard she put our dog in and proceeded to let another dog out into the same yard with our dog. Not surprisingly, there was a fight. We were told that our dog had a "small cut" on top of her head but was ok and they would call us if there was any further issue. Well, 5 days later, the day before we were returning home, they called to say that they thought the cut was getting infected and that our dog probably needed to see a vet. Um ok?? We are literally thousands of miles away! What exactly were we supposed to do about it? This was 100% their fault and yet we felt like they were dropping this in our laps when we weren't in any position to do anything about it. I called our vet anyway and they didn't have any appointments available but at this point, I wanted my dog out of there. I didn't trust anything we were being told. I had to call a friend, who knows our dog well, to go pick her up and arrange for someone to take care of her for the night until we could get home the following day. Once our friend got her, we learned that she did not have a "small cut" like we were told but a large puncture wound from a tooth that, 5 days later, was still open and bleeding. And it was right above her eye. One inch lower and her eye could have been damaged. Amazingly, it didn't seem to be infected but it took 2 days for us to get it to stop bleeding and start scabbing over. Our dog also had a bite mark behind her ear and scratches on her chest that we were never told about. I spent the last day of my vacation dealing with this/worrying about my dog and our dog could have been hurt much worse. This situation could have totally been prevented if the worker had just payed attention. We will NEVER bring our dog back to Pet Lodge and have already found a new boarding facility that several of our friends use and have recommended. read more

We left two cats for 10 days on this facility. The cats came back home very dirty and had awful urine smell. Looks like during their stay the cat cages were not cleaned properly or may be were not cleaned at all. read more

I had used the Pet Lodge in Saratoga just over a year ago. My regular boarding facility was all booked. I used this Pet Lodge as it's closer to my home. Very satisfied with the staff and Amber seemed to adjust well. read more

I just picked up my dog from pet Lodge. We usually use someplace close by, but due to a late booking we had to use the pet lodge. My husband did not take a walk into the kennel when he dropped her off, but I did when I picked her up. This place is disgusting. It smells, there are no windows, there are urine and feces in the pets kennels, pets have a limited amount of time outside. All the dogs are barking constantly. The cages are small and ridiculously unsanitary. The place reeked of feces and urine. I would not recommend this place, I will never take my dog here again. My husband is taking her to have a bath now. She was literally shaking when we picked her up. That has never happened before. read more

Negligence and Mistreatment CERO STAR I left my Yorkie at this NASTY place for 2 weeks (my first time experience) in excellent conditions when I came back from my vacation I picked my little dog up and he looked like an abandoned dog, miserable, his head looking down, was covered in feces and urine and his hair was all tangled. I had to take my little dog to the vet for a en examination and grooming. I am still waiting for GM to call me, so far CERO CALLS, CERO EMAILS. After a few days of boarding, my dog came home smelling like her own urin, skinny, extremely dehydrated and need vet attention immediate, acting vey skittish and just not her puppy self at all. After asking the staff to see where she was boarded, I saw NASTY nasty kennels that looked like dried pee soaked in the corners of the kennels for months and the smell was worse then a dirty shelter. On top of all that, staff were cursing at dogs and they had lost her blanket and toys which she probably never even got. When I brought this to the owners attention, it was swept under the carpet. My dog is way to good for this place and it makes me very sad I put her in this situation. DONT GO HERE . read more

Incredibly unprofessional and will not recommend these kennels to anyone. If you cant even treat your potential customers with respect then I certainly don't want you to be responsible for the well being of my dog, whom I consider family. I had reserved a kennel and unfortunately while on the way to drop of my dog encountered heavy traffic. I was running about 15 minutes later than the kennel closed so I called to make sure it would still be alright if we dropped her off a bit late. I was told it was no problem and they would wait for us to arrive. Sure enough, we arrived exactly 15 minutes late to find the entire building empty and not a car in the parking lot. Not only did we run as quick as possible despite the wet roads and heavy traffic but I didn't even receive so much as a courtesy phone call (to either number they had on file) to let me know they were leaving to inquire about my status. If it had been a problem to begin with I would have made alternate arrangements, but at that point everything else in the area had closed and I was left with a difficult situation in regards to my weekend plans. I feel lied to and completely disrespected, terrible customer service. read more

NEVER AGAIN! This was the first time we have ever boarded a pet so we inquired about pet boarding on our neighborhood blog and several residents suggested Pet Lodge CP. Before committing to Pet Lodge CP we even went to the effort of doing a visit to look at the facility during the week before scheduling. We were a bit apprehensive during the visit because the cage area was dark but generally clean and smelled of cleaning products. The place was full of barking animals because there were daily boarding pets who were ready for their humans to pick them up. The employees that showed us around said it was calmer on weekends because there were normally fewer day boardings. We turned our 1 year old calm, well behaved dog there along with her clean pet bed, toys, and individually prepared measured meal containers for a less than 48 hour stay. The staff apparently is not all on the same page when charging the customer. Upon pick up, the rude young man at the counter gave me a charge of $120 plus tax. I immediately questioned it because when we had dropped her off on Friday around 5pm, I made a point of asking the young lady who had taken her in what the charge was going to be for the stay if we picked her up by 5pm Sunday afternoon. She stated $80 for the stay less a first time discount, so $40. At pickup, I questioned the $120 plus tax charge and the young man said "you must have misunderstood our pricing". No, I didn't!!! I was very clear with the young lady and even asked follow up questions but this guy explains "it is the same as our boarding fees, you pay for every day the dog is here. So the day of drop off (after 5 pm when they close at 6:30) counted as a "day", so we had a 3 day charge for our animal to be mistreated. A complete RIPOFF! My beautiful dog came back absolutely traumatized, her pet bed was covered on both sides with feces and urine pet paw prints and both she and the bed stunk of dog poop because she had apparently been "let out" into an area that was completely unsanitary. The bed was torn to shreds and she has never destroyed any pet bed or toy. The next 2 days home she refused to eat and would not leave our side. Worst experience EVER and I am updating our neighborhood blog to make sure that no other pet owner subjects their pet to this place. read more

I brought my cat to pet lodge and she stayed about three weeks, and when she came out after a week, pet lodge didn't give me back all of the items i brought in with her, and even got her carriers mixed up. then, i brought her back a week after that and she stayed for about two weeks and she ended up coming out with fleas, and I didn't get back all of her items again that she came in with. i'm still trying to deal with the fleas situation and i'm actually pissed off that she even got fleas to begin with. read more

A great place for your dog to spend the day while you're at work. I realize they have to use a lot disinfectant to clean the floors and whatnot, but OMG the smell is overwhelming. It will burn your eyes out, when you walk in the lobby. Maybe they could use some air freshener in the lobby area. I hate to see a lot of turnover with the employees...I personally like to see the same people when I come. I'm sure it's hard to keep good help...but that girl Alisa (sp) is GREAT! She's been there a long time. My dog likes her, and I like seeing her behind the counter. I do hope they give her the proper raises and promotions (that she deserves) along the way so she doesn't leave.. She should... if she already isn't... be managing the Clifton Park location. read more

Have been bringing my dogs here for years! The staff is amazing and clearly love animals. My dogs always come home happy, healthy and tired (from all the playing)! In the 20 or so times I have brought my dogs there I have never had a problem. We can always enjoy our vacations knowing out furry babies are well taken care of!!! read more

After one unpleasant experience with The Pet Lodge when they overcharged us, and our dogs came home covered in their waste and crate trained (they were supposed to be in an open pen together), we decided to give the place one more shot when they assured us they got rid of their most recent manager. I am sorry to say that this business not only failed again- but truly fell into a dangerously inoperable list when they 'didn't give one dogs his medicine because they didn't know which dog was which.' Our dog in need of meds has 3 legs. That alone should be enough- but calling us once, then, not returning our response call, and then allowing our dog to go all weekend without his medication to fight his bacterial infection. I am so passionate about the care of our animals, and it's important that folks know about this horrible experience. Oh right- when I called to speak with the manager, I was put on hold for 4 minutes and never picked up. Take care of your beloved animals and bring them somewhere that cares for them. read more

I've taken my dog here on three occasions, hoping they will get better but it never happens. I use them for day boarding and overnight boarding and each time My dog comes home filthy, and in a panic. This most recent time his leash came home destroyed with no explanation. The employees are usually tolerable but they do have one young man who exceptionally friendly, so not all bad. I don't like appreciate paying $37 and an addition fee to now buy him a new leash and having to bathe him as well. read more

I have been bringing my dog to pet lodge since she was 4 months old. The original manager and staff were amazing and always took care of my dog like she was there own. They have all left just recently and the staff that is left behind is a bunch of kids that don't really care much about the dogs and more just about a paycheck. My dog has come home from daycare at time smelling like dog poop. She used to enjoy going to daycare but she comes home and holds her head down and that is not like her at all. She also hides when we say she is going to daycare and that used to be her favorite place to go. The staff is not pleasant at all and the new manager needs some to learn how to deal with the public better. There a lot of aggressive dogs that are going to the pet lodge now and little dogs are being put in kennels with large dogs. I know that because my dog has become shy with the lack of attention that they would leave her in a dog kennel by herself which has no water and her dog poop just left in there with her. I send my dog there to have a good time not be scared locked in a kennel all day long. The younger staff has no patience to deal with the dogs at all. I have left my phone number with the manager to call me and have yet to hear anything. Very disappointed that the place has become all about money and a lot less about the health and safety of the pets. read more

I take my dog here for daycare, grooming, and the occasional overnight stay, and we both absolutely love it! My dog has anxiety issues and the staff are so patient and kind which I really appreciate. He always comes home very happy and pooped from all the running around. You can tell their staff really cares about animals and will take care of your dog like family. Every time we pull up to the building the dog's tail starts going a mile a minute. I know leaving your pooch overnight is tough, but if you have to, Pet Lodge is the place to go. read more

If you love your pet, STAY AWAY FROM THIS CALLOUS, IRRESPONSIBLE, AND DANGEROUSLY INCOMPETENT FACILITY! We left our active, 2 year old poodle with Pet Lodge Clifton Park for a few weeks while we went on vacation and when we returned found her splay-legged and dying on the floor of her pen. When we entered, we were told, "she did great. She's fine, but she's having trouble standing; she keeps slipping on the floor." When we went in the back to get her, she was lying on the floor, legs wide apart and, as I sat on the floor, picked her up and cradled her in my arms, she looked plaintively at me, breathing eratically, sighed, and died in my arms. .... When we left her with Pet Lodge, we had given specific instructions both verbally and in writing about giving her medications every morning and we were told "not to worry," that all instructions would be followed. Obviously, they were not! We also left the name, address, and telephone number of our vet and told them to contact him should there be any problems. They did not even bother to do that, either! In fact, they continued to deny there had been any incling of a problem. PLEASE, IF YOU VALUE THE WELL-BEING OF YOU PET, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! THEY ARE CALLOUS, CARELESS, NEGLECTFUL AND DANGEROUS TO YOUR PET. ..... One Star is too many. read more
