Kili is always nervous when I take her to the beautiful van but comes out calm, clean, teeth and breath great, and nails well trimmed. My Princess Pooh-bear needed some help in the fur department, we like to let her hair get long in the "winter" months for some added warmth. Her fur was getting a little crazy and especially in the back area...fellow pet peeps, you know exactly what I am talking about...dingleberries. Called Kerri to set up an appointment and she was able to see my Pooh right away. She works out of Aloha K9 Kuts on North King St. and the location is clean, and smells nice. We've been to a few groomers where the smell just made Pooh shake like a leaf, so this was a good sign. My sweet girl got pampered! Nails trimmed, bath and a hair cut, anal glands expressed (who needs a scooting dog?) and then she was topped off with some super cute bows. BTW, she also uses vegan, pet friendly, environmentally friendly products! Kerri will take the time to comfort your pet, Pooh was not fond of the blow dryer (noises), but Kerri held her to get her dried. When I finally got to pick her up, she was all prettied up, and ready to go for a car ride. Kerri also does Pet communication, she sometimes uses it to soothe stressed animals during the grooming, but can also be your "Konnektion" to communicating with your fur baby. My little old boy Koa was in need of some nail care and we were having trouble finding a place that was open on a Sunday. In the past few months one of Koa's toes got infected. With some antibiotics and care it eventually healed, but every time I tried to cut his nails he would give me a hard time. His nails grew long and I knew I needed to get some help. Auntie Kerri is AMAZING!! Koa has always been a shy little sweetheart, but Kerri knows exactly what to do to make him comfortable. She shows she cares and understands by talking to him and building his confidence. We take Koa every 4 weeks. Their location shares a tiny parking lot with Palace Saimin but they are closed on Sundays so I'm not sure how busy it gets. Drop off and pick ups are quick! Koa is scared of being held in a kennel between cuts or breaks. Lucky the set up here is more relaxed. We get a 15-20 minute pau projection time and start making our way back to pick him up. Koa started with Kerri, about five months ago. He looked liked a doggy Chewbacca, hair long and wild! Aunty Kerri turned him into a super fluffy, sophisticated, stuffed teddy bear no double A batteries needed to start! He gets the full service. Hair trimmed, bathed, and blowout. He gets his gums and teeth cleaned and nails filed. Overall, we highly recommend auntie Kerri. No one else is better suited to care for Koa. Kerri is awesome!!! My dogs are my kids, my life, my everything... so when it came down to choosing a groomer that I could trust took me a while. I first met Kerri at Pet Smart & would bring Chewy there everything 6-7 weeks. She eventually started her own business & of course I followed her! My story starts about 6 or 7 years back. I met Kerri-Lynn when she was a groomer living in California. I always knew she was special in some way because my little Terrier mix Morgan was very fond of her. (For the record Morgan isn't fond of many people lol) I would drop him off every 8-10 weeks for grooming & he'd spend some time with her. He always seemed happy & not stressed at all when I got him back. I was sad to hear she was moving away (to Hawaii). However, we kept in touch via Instagram & I was happy that she was happy in her new life doing what she loved. Now fast forward to the present. I spent New Years Day in Emergency with my other dog Jäger. He stopped eating & started having vomiting & diarrhea. Kerri-Lynn knew Jäger & met him multiple times before she moved but since he was a Boxer (super short hair coat) he didn't require any grooming that I couldn't do. Jäger was not getting better. He lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. He saw multiple Drs & an Internal Specialist. He had a lot of diagnostics done; X-rays, Ultrasound, bloodwork & was hospitalized. They didn't find anything super significant & were diagnosing him with Gastroenteritis & Esophagitis. I was about to have an Endoscopy done on him when I turned to Kerri-Lynn & asked her opinion on taking him to a pet communicator. (Since I live in California & she lives in Hawaii I didn't think she could help us) When she told me the distance didn't matter I was very surprised but happy. I trusted her with my Morgan & I would trust her with my other boy Jäger. The stuff he communicated to her made me both smile & sad. It totally sounded like him. He told her about my daughters doll house & how much he liked music. (Every night for bath time we listen to music & the girls dance around in their PJs in front of the doll house) How he loved being tucked in at night. He also communicated that he didn't want to talk about his illness & he was focused on the great life he's had with us. That "he's lived a life most dogs don't get." (I'm a stay at home Mom & he's an indoor dog. We go on walks 4-5 times a week & he's treated like a son.) The only thing he mentioned to her about it was that he felt "a lump in his throat" & he had a headache. That compelled me to turn to a Dr I used to work with a long time ago. (I was a Vet Tech for a long time before I became a Mom) I told the Dr about how he mentioned the lump in his throat to Kerri-Lynn. The Dr looked at his previous X-rays & said "okay let's take a couple of his head & do more bloodwork." We did... Unfortunately that "lump in his throat" turned out to be an egg shaped Tumor that 5 other Drs missed. It was just sitting there right where his throat ended & esophagus began. It explained everything. Of course I was heart broken & devastated. I still am... we had to put him to sleep. He went downhill so fast & I didn't want to put him through anything else. I am sooo thankful for Kerri-Lynn. If she hadn't communicated with Jäger & mentioned the lump I would've never known what was wrong. I would've never pushed for another x-ray. He may have even suffered longer because I wasn't willing to give up on him. Kerri-Lynn is not just a great dog groomer & wonderful pet communicator; She is an all around great person. She is kind & loving to animals & tries to do the very best for them in any situation. She has since helped me to accept things & know that 1 day I will be with Jäger again. Kerri was at the house, my bird Squiggy fell absolutely in love with Kerri at first touch. Then the fun started, everytime Kerri was speaking, Squiggy added her 2 cents, or laughed. What also was super interesting was the interaction, I have 2 large dogs, Shaggy Dog who has not a care in the world just plopped himself on the floor in front of Kerri and rolled over, showing his vitals to her like it was the most normal thing to do. Me, as a Fur baby Momma was a bit embarrassed at his manners, but Shaggy was smiling so sweetly, I only could laugh. Summer however, was very sad, for a while, I would even say depressed. When she would come in the house she wouldn't even hang out with us, and we are pretty fun. Summer went to Kerri, in her face like, and Kerri just asked, what happened to her baby? WHAT? BABY?? As it turned out, she had a beloved doll dog toy, she USED to take it in the yard with her and hide it under her bed, or slept on top of the bed with it. My boyfriend went very pale at hearing this, I was dumbfounded. She was fixed. After further discussion we ascertained it was her baby toy. Me not knowing why she neglected her baby toy. And of course, after Kerri left, the boyfriend said he "accidentally" threw her BABY AWAY! He thought he was cleaning the backyard. Needless to say, Summer has been United with her New baby, the baby does not go outside, it stays on her bed even when she is not there always safe. And Summer, is back to being her happy self, no depression, no empty nest syndrome, just the amazing fur baby I love so much. I am so grateful to Kerri, it's funny, learning that me, being this "all knowing human" isn't all knowing. I have so much to learn, and to remember, what's big to them, might be nothing to us. I must remember to respect their loves, and concerns. Our family 2 legged, 4 legged and winged all became tighter because of this experience. AWESOME! (If I had to choose one word to describe our first experience) I had been so stressed, trying to find a groomer for my puppy. I am so thankful that my friend (who has taken her doggies to Kerri-Lynn for years) was able to get me in touch with her! First of all, having the option of Kerri-Lynn coming to our house was super convenient. She showed up with her van, which is customized so that it is truly a grooming shop on wheels! The van is clean, air-conditioned & decked out with a grooming table, washing area & blow dryer. Kerri-Lynn plays music too (which makes it seem like home). This was Buddy James' first grooming, so of course I wanted this to be a good experience for him. He is tiny (only ~2.5 lbs), but Kerri-Lynn has experience handling animals of all sizes. She was so good with him - very calm, gentle & loving while handling him. She even took a video during the grooming (he was so comfortable with Kerri-Lynn that he was falling asleep!) She spent ~1.5 hrs grooming him (he was quite shaggy)! She was very thorough - trimming & buffing his nails, cleaning his ears, as well as dematting & trimming his fur. Kerri is so caring and very skilled. She really does have a special connection with animals. My puppers doesn't like to be carried but was just content with Kerri. She does a wonderful job of grooming my Klee Kai and all her fur. I know you can make another dog with all of her undercoat and fuzz.
