Man oh man. I had Target-level hopes for Pet Food Express and got the Gucci treatment! Alex helped me to select a (relatively) reasonably-priced raw food for my Savannah cat and even offered a sample of a second option to compare. I also learned that any packaged food (cans or kibble) that a pet rejects can be returned and are then donated to animals in need. Good people providing good products to pets and great service to customers and the community?! More of this in the world, please! read more

We were looking for a specific dog food for our little finicky puppy. After searching for a few minutes and not finding it, I asked the very nice gentleman who had greeted us when we walked in for help. He immediately came over to check the racks and shelves, confirmed they were out of stock, and asked if we would like to check another nearby location. When we confirmed, he asked us to wait while he called to make sure they had it, so we wouldn't make the trip in vain. Once he connected and confirmed they had it, he asked them to hold it for us until we got there. I loved the friendliness and the way he went out of his way to help us get what we needed. Excellent customer service. read more

They have a great system here. You can wash your dog and shop. I would give 5 stars if it wasn't for the most unfriendly and anti dog person I have ever met, Dagger. They are so rude and clearly doesn't like dogs. I have raved about the Novato location before. Emily has helped me a few times, and she was always so polite and friendly. I hadn't been there in awhile and I came back in to not be greeted by Dagger. Every word they said, dripped with attitude and annoyance. I had to ask a few questions and they couldn't even look at me. Clipped words and half a$$ed pointing in a general direction. I had to go up again to ask a question and finally decided it wasn't worth the hassle. I found Petco a few miles up and went there. read more

I popped into Pet Food Express today with a bunch of questions about my kitty pals, what they should be eating, how to deal with fleas, and even deworming options. Hannah, one of the staff members, was super helpful and really went above and beyond to help me out. She greeted me with a smile and made sure I got all the help I needed. Her kindness and understanding really stood out, showing what a caring person she is. Employees like Hannah deserve a big shoutout for their amazing service. She definitely went above and beyond. Thank you so much Hannah for making this horrific experience of mine, a not so horrific visit to pet food express. Also a big thanks for her making me feel right at home with all my kitty issues. You were truly a Gem. read more

I'd never been in this location, but stopped in to get a new leash and collar for my dog, and was a bit overwhelmed. The staff here are so friendly and helpful, and while I generally like to avoid small talk, I had a great conversation with them. I wish I could buy them lunch. read more

Always friendly and helpful with good pet supplies options! It's my go to place. Only thing is it can be a little pricey sometimes

Prices are usually quite high here , In my experiences, and products are more limited too. Not my favorite place, but sometimes it can be a life-saver-SOMETIMES-. -Good Luck-well actually you'll be outta luck if you have a dragon or similar as they generally have nothing in that dept. read more

Absolutely love this place. They are always very welcoming and friendly. Anytime I find a deal online they will honer it and help me with any questions. My dogs love going as well they always get a treat. read more

I usually use the Pet Food Express on Nave Drive to wash my dog, but recently brought her to this location. She was struggling to get up the steps, and one of the guys who work there came over and helped me lift her! Great service. I also recently switched my dog to a grain free diet, and they have been great in helping me try different wet foods, and gave me a sample of food for her to try. When I finally decided to switch over to dry as well, the staff was very helpful, and gave me a can of pumpkin to help with the switch. Great staff here!! read more

Thank you pet food express you make my dog Eli happy. We go to dog wash and he enjoys it. read more

We bring our dog for the dog wash, and get most of her food here. They are not the cheapest, but they offer "Buy 3 and get the 4th free" discount for most things, including the dog wash. The dog wash is so convenient -- I don't want to move to the area where there's no Pet Food Express! The staff is always very helpful and pleasant. I love the fact that they never sell live animals here, and promote adoption. Our kind of pet store! We adopted our pets, and try to give to adoption organizations. They also host the fundraisers for Novato PD K-9 programs. read more

This is the best place to get anything for your pet. The staff here are all amazing and knowledgeable no matter who is working or what time you go in. Super helpful all the time, honestly the best customer service ever. read more

Don't come here they won't exchange dog food if you have no receipt!!!! . Petco is better ! I'd give them 0 stars if I could .

Amy was incredible! This place is near my place of work, so it's incredibly convenient to pick up as many pet supplies as possible. My cat is horribly picky, and since I couldn't find the dry food we've been feeding him, I tried a different one, which he literally will not even touch. I've tried to get him "nice" food, but if it's too expensive or not a flavour he likes, he won't eat it. Amy spent half an hour with me suggesting foods that he might eat, good quality, and not bank-breaking. She was thorough with every step of the process, friendly, and an absolute joy to talk with after a long day of work. The food I ended up purchasing was perfect and Meeko loves it, and I wouldn't have given it a second look if it weren't for Amy's help. Thanks so much! P.S. Have also been helped by the manager, who also frequents my place of work. Extremely informative and friendly as well. Great place to shop for all my kitty's needs! read more

Love going here. They always have what I need and their staff is always ready to make an educated recommendation for both my cat and dog. They stand behind their products and everyone from the manager, they younger girl with short brown hair, to the older woman with short salt and pepper hair, knock it out of the park when it comes to everything from taking care of their clients both human and feline\canine. Lastly, their charitable efforts are immense and should be commended as I have never seen another chain be so hands-on and InTouch with the needs of the community as I do and our local pet store. read more

Pet Food Express - Product line beats most and no animals for sale daily (adoption events on weekend). Always an A+ - Pet Stores Near Me - Novato, California

Emmanuella assisted me today and couldn't have been anymore helpful! She answered all my questions and left me with so much more knowledge and peace of mind leaving! She helped me create a meal plan perfect for my dog that was affordable, well balanced, and amazing quality! Definitely recommend going in or giving them a call with any pet questions you may have! read more

So, wow is all I can say about this store and its employees. We evacuated Santa Rosa to Novato due to the fire and went in there to get supplies for the animals in our care. Not only were the employees and the manager incredibly helpful, they didn't even charge us for the items we needed to ensure our pets stayed safe. There aren't enough stars or kind words I can give or say about this store. This is humanity. These are people. They care. Thank you! read more

A great solution eliminating a wet and hairy bathroom. We take 100 pound GSD to pet Food express for all of his needs whether it's treats, a toy, and most importantly baths. There is a large second room in the building dedicated for pet washers with large tubs. Washing your pet hair is so easy and quick. The staff is always friendly and affectionate to your furry friend. A very well run and convenient place to stop in. Would definitely recommend. read more

My dog found some particularly thick mud on our walk and then to top it off was sprayed by a skunk in our backyard. My day was about to become a disaster. I called the store and was greeted on the phone by Chelsea, who reassured me that the store was open until 8:00 despite it being a holiday. I was so relieved! When I arrived a few hours later, she recognized me from what I had described on the phone and helped me find the appropriate products to eliminate the skunk smell. It took me 5 washes and rinses of soap to get rid of the caked mud and most of the foul smell. I had run out of towels and was once again rescued, this time by Alex. I must say that the kindness that Chelsea and Alex showed me and my disgustingly dirty and stinky K9, were what turned my entire day around. They made my day. Thank you both for your help and for offering me your expertise with a smile! -------------------------------------------------- read more

I just returned from this Pet Food Express (PFE) on Diablo in Novato. My mind is blown. My faith in humanity is restored. I was completely out of food for my bird. I approached the automatic doors - they didn't open. I couldn't immediately see a sign with hours. I saw a person inside and mouthed "are you closed?" She approached the doors and slid them open. PFE: "Yes, we're closed. It's Sunday, we close at 6. Are you out of food?" I look at my phone. Me: "Shoot, it's almost 7 p.m. Okay. Thanks." I turn to leave. PFE: "Are you out of food?" Me: "Well, yeah." PFE: "Come get what you need, you just have to come back tomorrow and pay." Me: "What? Really?" And so I got food for my bird! All they wanted was my name and phone number. I offered to leave cash but they had already processed the sales for the day and didn't want to take it. I am overwhelmed by their generosity and trust. Unfortunately, I was also out of guinea pig food, too, but in my shock I forgot to grab it. I'll just get it tomorrow when I go back to pay. read more

Love the selection of food and supplements for pets but the staff is simply wonderful and kind! Especially store manager "Hailey" - who has been so helpful and kind ! Worth the extra 12 minute drive to get their location! read more

Barb set us straight with all the necessities for our new puppy! She was so knowledgeable and helpful, with out pushing products. We really walked out of there feeling like we were well taken care of and ready to take care of our new pup. After a very mediocre visit to another pet store in town, she was a breath fo fresh air, and the rest of the staff at this store were great too. read more

I completely agree with K.P. Pet Food Express in Novato is amazing. The staff are so friendly and jump right in to help - I never feel like it's an inconvenience for them to have to assist me, as I often do at PetCo. They genuinely care about my (and my pet's) needs each time I go in, and it shows. One employee spent twenty minutes with me explaining the different dietary options for my senior cat who has special needs. She went into detail explaining why some foods are better for pets than others (those at the grocery store are nasty!). She knew a lot about cat physiology and the way our feline friends process food. She told me what ingredients in mainstream pet food (meat by-products are soooo bad!) contribute to the most typical health problems in cats. Since starting her on the new food six months ago, my cat has been so much healthier, playful, vital, and happy. Her coat shines like it never has! The employee also helped me pick out an igloo-like litter box that would contain my cat's urine - she sprays like a male cat because she can't squat very well. I rarely feel so genuinely cared for as a customer as I do at Pet Food Express, and will never consider going anywhere else for my pet food and supplies. Thanks, Novato Pet Food Express! read more

First thing, ask for Barb. Barb is very knowledgeable about all things dog. They also have a bathing station which I look forward to using on our new dog. Every Saturday VIP is on site to give vaccinations. This store is very well stocked. read more

Came in 20 minutes before closing tonight and the young woman who helped me was so kind and helpful! I feel bad going into a store right before close but she wasn't bothered at all. Beware of the VIP pet care shots they give at all of the pet food express locations. It is no cheaper then going to a vet. They treat all the animals that come though like they treat animals at a slaughter house. They stabbed my 6 pound dog chihuahua with a 3 inch needle in the hip. My dog is still limping from this incident. Which occurred over a week ago from the date that I write this. No hate to pet food express. Because VIP is a separate company. Pet food express needs to get rid of these chumps services they have every Saturday. read more

I won't shop anywhere else. I have a very picky under weight cat and a new kitten. The staff have very patiently talked to me About their individual needs and never rushed me in to a decision. I made many trips over months trying to find the right combination of food for my cat, brought back what didn't work without a problem. They have solved every other pet problem that I have had over the years. Best chain of stores ever! read more

I only shop here for natural & organic food for my cats. The new store in San Rafael is great, too. The staff in both locations are always friendly and very helpful. My sister discovered that the treats she buys her dog are sometimes $2 or $3 cheaper here than at the bigger chains! The Buy 3/Get One Free is great for stocking up. No one else offers anything close to Pet Food Express. It is by far the best place to go to get food for your pet. Having worked with vets, I can honestly say that the crap on the shelves at the grocery stores is the worst possible thing you can feed your pets. Go the Pet Food Express NOW. read more

This post is a few weeks late but I wanted to be sure to get it in. I was in desperate need for flea help and while I like petco their staff never seems to have any real information. I can read the back of a package too. I came into Pet food Express and was greeted by Alex, he listened to my problem and said he would do his best to help even though he was new. He wasn't sure on everything but got some advice and directed me to the flea products. I couldn't figure out why the fleas kept coming back but he explained that only a tiny percentage of the fleas were actually on my dog, and the rest were in my house. I ended buying flea medication, powder for my floors and a spray for everything else. I am so glad to be rid of fleas. If I ever need help again I will be back. My little dog thanks you too! read more

I just have to give a shout out to the best pet shop, Pet Food Express in Novato Fair on Diablo. They have to most knowledgeable staff I have ever experienced in my life! My elderly cat was diagnosed with hyper thyroid. The vet put him on medication and science diet food that you can only buy from the vet. My cat was continuously throwing up for 3 weeks and not getting better. After my third trip to the vets office and $2,000.00 in vet bills, I showed the vet that my cats ears were red and that he was having a allergic reaction to the medication. She agreed, and then she told me I could try controlling his condition through food (wish she had given me that option in the beginning). That's when I met Barb at Pet Food Express. She was so kind and knowledgeable. She helped me with finding a healthy food choice for my cat. He has been on "Just for Cats" fresh frozen food for 6 months. His condition cleared up right away once he started on this great food. I am so thankful for all the staff at Pet Food Express especially Barb! She saved my cats life!!! read more

There are only a few pet food supply stores in town, and two of them are chain stores, this one being one of them. They are a bit higher priced but they do offer a giod selection of high quality kitten food. All their canned foods are buy 3 and the 4th one is free! I love their return policy as well. If your animal doesn't care for it, just bring it back and you can return it or try something else. read more

We have been coming to this store now for a few years and would really like to commend the entire staff for such great service and energy. On many occasions we have had questions- from how to take care of our aging kitty with kidney disease to discussions about the best pet food for our cats and dog. Ron and Barb have been OUTSTANDING and we always look forward to seeing them, especially when our corgi, George, wants to drop by for a visit and belly rubs. I typically go to the location in Terra Linda with my dog. However my parents would go to this location. Their first dog passed away recently and her passing has been hard on us all. I wanted to give a humongous THANK YOU to the associate that assisted my mom on getting the back of her dog tag engraved her birth date, which was unknown since she was rescued from Guatemala, and the day she passed. If I could give your staff a thank you hug, I would in a heart beat. You were so kind to her and she needed that the most. read more

I need to tell you about an employee at the Novato pet food express. Emmanuel who is a young girl working at that store for a year. I brought in my daughters dog who was infested with fleas. It was like I was at a vets office. She helped me wash the dog and remove all the fleas. 45 min later her shift was over but she made sure that we were ok and the dog was ok. I have never gone anywhere where the employee goes above and beyond like this girl. She was wonderful! Please take good care of this employee because there are only a few of these around. read more

I brought my puppy in with me to grab some food and received wonderful service. I was helped by Emmanuel and she helped me navigate through different brands while offering me so much insight on dog nutrition that I hadn't know prior to coming in. I have been fostering dogs through Lily's Senior Dog Rescue in Petaluma for several years. Over the years I have fostered 11 different senior dogs. Although many of the employees are no longer employed at Pet Food Express in Novato, there is one woman who still remains, Barb. Words cannot express my gratitude to Barb as she has helped me to decide which dog food and/or supplies would be best for the pup I was fostering at the time. When I would bring the pup in Barb would always spend time with me and I would explain the personality and specifics of the pup. She would listen to each detail and then show me what she would recommend. Barb is incredibly knowledgeable about the products and what would be best suited for each pup. I have come to rely on her over the years. Barb is absolutely amazing and words cannot describe the confidence I have in her giving the best possible recommendations to each pup I have fostered. She is an asset to this store and I am forever grateful she is there. Pet food Express is a great store. It is always clean and well stocked with different varieties of food and supplies. The employees are very knowledgeable and go above and beyond to provide the best customer service possible. read more
