One-off Italian meals in the EU - 2 of 2
I don't like staying in Milan proper nor do I like that city very much. I try to stay near the Fiera, at Rho, where a major Metro line ends and there is a huge intermodal transportation hub. I could not find lodging near the Fiera, but I found lodging in nearby Pero, also on that same Metro line.
I had no clue where to eat and I was more concerned with how to get to MXP-Malpensa the following day. I looked up restaurants and none of them seemed that convincing. I finally took my chances on Pesce Boccone, braved the mosquitoes as I walked over there, and sat down.
I was attended to immediately. I looked at the menu and ordered a plate of pasta - fettucine - and a Coca Cola Zero. I remember digging into my meal and being satisfied. It made for a good dinner that tided me over until the next day when I would be going to the airport.
Take note of a few things about Pesce Boccone. First, the ownership, while not from the Italian region of Lombardy, serves up food that would be more than satisfactory to most people. There were locals coming and going, with some apparent local regulars sitting in the dining room, eating, and watching televised sports. Also, note that they serve much more than seafood, also serving pastas and other typical Italian dishes. Lastly, the price I paid was fair and, as I was leaving, I noticed signage in their exterior windows indicating they offer nicely priced lunch "combos." read more
