It came with so many different types of sea creatures. Everything was so fresh and I couldn't get enough of this platter. We ordered 2 carpaccios. BOTH AMAZING. We ordered the lobster pasta which was my favorite. We also ordered the rigatoni crab pasta which was okay and feeds 4 people! The dessert is must after even if you're so full.

It's safe to say seafood has been a big part of my life. This is as good as it gets. Whoever their supplier is, is doing a stellar job. Extremely fresh and a good variety. We ordered a seafood platter (grand plateau royal) for entree, black pasta with shrimp and wine and a salad to share. The platter was second to none with a wide variety of clams, oysters, sea urchin, prawns, scampi and crab. The pasta was well seasoned and bursting with flavour. We didn't get a chance to have dessert as we were too full. Special mention of the salad. They used only baby leaves and the sweetest cherry tomatoes. Easily the best we had at any restaurant we have been in France and Italy. The service was friendly, courteous and professional. Highly recommended for a seafood feast in Milan.

We finally made it to the Seafood Market! Probably you have also heard that Milan's seafood is the…read morefreshest you can get in Italy although the nearest coast is almost 2 hours away. Well, most of that seafood comes from this place, a big marketplace in the southeastern part of the city. During the week it's only open to restaurants and businesses so you can't just go there and buy your fish, but then during Saturday mornings, from 9.30 to 11.30 just a few stalls remain open for everyone to buy their fresh fish. It's a market so you'll find the people in the stalls shouting the prices and offers and showing their products, crowds standing in front of them (if you're not very tall, like me, you won't be able to see a thing - or be ready to push your way to the front), wet, slippery floors and obviously, strong smell of fish. We went there just to buy something for lunch but ended up buying also for the day after and even something to keep in the freezer. They are used to selling in big quantities so don't expect to go there and ask for 3 shrimps and 2 slices of swordfish... like we though. Everything is sold by the kilo so we brought home almost 3 kilos of fish, too much for just the two of us, but we loved the taste and quality of everything and we saved half in the freezer. Prices are not cheap, perhaps a bit higher than what you usually find at the supermarket, but quality and freshness here are ensured. If you're lucky enough, by the end (around 11.15 or so) they might lower the prices trying to sell everything they have left.

Zio Pesce means "uncle fish" and the decor is hip with fishing related objects on the walls, white table clothes and at least one waiter who translated the menu for us, answered all questions and ensured that not just the meal, but the evening was terrific. We started with a fabulous fish ceviche. Very fresh. Lovely flavor. Next we shared an order of bauletti. Bauletti means little trunks (think suitcases, not swimming). They are little squares filled, in this case, with cod. The bauletti are then cooked in a tomato sauce and bechamel sauce like you'd bake lasagna. It was great. The secondo was crispy octopus (polpo croccante). The octopus wasn't crispy but was grilled and coated with toasted bread crumbs and served on potatoes and greens. What great combination. All of the this was accompanied by cold, crisp lovely vermentino from Sardinia. For dessert we had super fresh strawberries with a lovely sauce I can no longer recall except to say that my mouth is watering thinking about it. This was a great meal and a great evening in a lovely ambience. Zio Pesce is the kind of restaurant you'd drive across town for in Washington or Atlanta or Toronto -- if you could get a reservation . Which brings me to the final point: you need to make reservation if you want to eat at Zio Pesce. The gentleman who answered the phone switched to English as soon as he heard my bad Italian.

I usually try the yellowfin tuna here, it's super delicious. The fish is seared which means it's heated only at the surface. So, if you don't like raw fish, this is not for you. The fish I comes with potatoes and some green leaves, so quite filling. Zio Pesce has become one of my favorite restaurants in Milan because of the quality of food as well as the dining experience itself. The staff are very kind and attentive, and do what they can to keep you satisfied. Once, they gave us a free bottle of wine just because we had to wait for about 15 minutes (with a reservation). This was far from my expectation considering what I see in some places in Italy. Yes, they care about customers!

We ordered scallops, shrimp, octopus, calamari, and potatoes. The food was overall well-cooked. The value here is great; to get all this fresh seafood for ~40 euros is a nice deal. This is one of those where I wish I could give half stars and would rate it a 3.5. I would probably come here again, especially if I had more time to order my meal.

The seafood was all cubed up into small pieces and the sauce was exquisite. We also ordered a pasta with mussels and that didn't disappoint either. The round of Aperol spritzes was also amazing but they offer a lot of wine as well (which probably would've paired equally well with the pasta, but my heart was set on Aperol spritzes for my Italy vacation). I've managed to forget the details of the wonderful food we ate so I hope I. don't commit any serious omissions as I reconstruct our meal. We had an appetizer which I cannot recall. I think it was some sort of raw fish (crudo sounds better) with just a hint of citrus almost like an Italian version of ceviche. Our primo (shared) was wonderful: porcini mushrooms on roasted potatoes. What great taste from two simple ingredients. The secondo (also shared) was salmon coated in sliced almonds and a wonderful lemony sauce. Quite simply it was perfect. We had a terrific white wine that might have been a vermentino. Angelo didn't have biscotti with vino santo so he suggested sbrisolona -- another kind of dessert biscuit. -- that seemed to be homemade -- and a digestivo. In between all of this were wonderful amuse bouche. Here's what I'd like you to know: this was a wonderful, elegant meal served by a very professional waiter in beautiful surroundings.
