Every couple of years I shop around for new quotes and for the last six years they have beaten everyone else's quotes and sometimes even their own. Their customer service is always great from requesting copies of your policies, answering all my questions to when you need to use them in an emergency when it counts. Sadly, I will be canceling my Auto Policy with Personal Express after over 10 years. The renewal is way too high and I have never had any blemishes on my driving record. I reached out to them and was told their rates raised over 40% across the board. I already have way cheaper qoutes from several national companies. They have always beat the competitors but it must end. No attempt was even made to try to persuade me to stay. read more

OMG - I had this insurance for BOTH Auto and Home for 4+ Years and WAS managed thru Nationwide - and - was paying approximately $465 for 6 months for Auto THEN they changed to e- insurance and Jacked up my policy to $2,465 year OUCH! after 7 months I found AAA that offered me a Savings of $850 Less - than what I paid - Waiting for Pro Rated Refund from PE and was told it would take 10 days to MAIL out my check! I have this insurance company for my home insurance. They are reasonable & follow through with what they say they cover! They have great contractors who do great work! I love that they have the appliance package for a reasonable cost to add. Customer service is great. My house flooded a little less than a year ago from a mainline backup. I was literally in tears & so stressed. I have a big family & we need our home to be functional. I also had some sentimental items from my grandma who has passed that got damaged Clara & the contractor from 911 Restoration told me there is a place that can refurbish it! Omg that took a big chunk off my chest & shoulders. She was great at calming me down & reassuring everything was ok. She did tell me that shw would walk me through everything. Had a minor accident and filed a claim a few months ago after years of being with them. I didn't receive any compensation(my policy was for the other vehicle). I told the agent what happened and I sent pictures of the minor damage. The other driver claim he was hurt(he didn't act hurt) and my agent never asked me about injuries of the other guy, just believed what he said and paid him money. got a cancellation notice today after just 1 small claim. what a bunch of ripoff artists, My dad had an accident with them several years ago and they more than doubled his rates. It really makes me made that every year Personal Express takes it upon themselves to add estimated mileage to increase our policy rate. I have been with Personal Express for more than 13 years and they decided to raise my rates close to $500 a year. I tried to give them the opportunity to make things right and they refuse. So come to find out the underwrite for National General Insurance. During me checking around before I canceled I went with Good Sam at the recommendation from a friend. Come to find out Good Sam also under writes for National General Insurance and not only did the quote me a killer price they actually beat the current price I'm paying and that included a killer deal for extended coverage on our trailer and truck when pulling our trailer. I've been meaning to write this for a while. We had been with Personal Express (National General insurance) for many years with car insurance, homeowners insurance, and an umbrella policy. We had one very small claim with them on our homeowners policy and I had one small claim with them on our auto policy over the years. For the auto policy it is where I was rear ended by two other cars. We had / have zero at fault accidents. We have / had zero speeding traffic infractions of any kind. We have faithfully and timely paid our premiums. We had full coverage auto insurance with Personal Express. We are both practicing Registered Nurses. We are both very honest people. We care for people for a living. My wife was on call for a local surgery department. She had been called in and was on her way home. She was in a hit and run auto accident on December 23, 2021 on her way home from work at night time while it was raining. It was dark and raining that night. My wife said she saw head lights coming through her driver side door and thought she was going to die. She moved into another lane and the other driver hit the side of her car and fled the scene. It is sickening that the driver that hit her would just leave her there and not even make sure she was ok. My wife promptly called 911 and not long after she called our insurance company. The crash detection on my wife's phone sent me an alert saying crash detected. Personal Express from the start gave us an "investigation specialist" instead of an insurance adjuster. From the moment my wife called unbeknownst to her, our insurance had no interest in her honest recollection of events to the best of her ability. They were wolves out to eat her and save themselves a buck. Literally everything my wife said they tried to twist her words. My wife had a foggy memory, it was dark out and raining when the accident occurred, she was on-call for the surgery department and had been called in. She was tired. She couldn't remember **precisely** if she was in the intersection or just after the intersection when the other car hit her. National general took that and ran with it. They left a voicemail stating they were submitting her to the District Attorney for "making false statements". The Bakersfield police department officer that came to take the report in person said it was in fact a hit and run and put that on the conclusion of the police report. The officer flat out said there was nothing false about our claim and sent that statement to me in an email and offered to go on record with that statement. Unfortunately, the nearby red light cameras, one wasn't working and the other was not facing the direction of the accident. El Pollo Loco cameras weren't good enough to catch anything. I have an email from my own accident reconstruction engineer who says he can already tell it was car vs. car contact but his company would want thousands to produce an actual report. Personal Express (National General) denied our claim. Just based on the opinion of their investigation specialist and accident reconstruction engineer. Neither of whom ever saw our car in person and never sat foot at the scene of the accident. They just used a few cell phone quality pictures and some how have omniscience of the entire event. Again, no one from the insurance company, investigators, adjusters, or engineers, ever saw our damaged van or the scene of the accident in person. We hired an attorney but they didn't want to invest in our case because it was too low value. They said we would have to tie up tens of thousands of dollars to beat them. We ended up having to pay for damages and injury out of our own pockets. If you ever have the displeasure of having this company as your insurer. You better have dash cameras that capture every angle. Don't ever speak to them after an accident. Hire an attorney straight away. It goes without saying we promptly canceled all of our policies with them. read more

Then we have one and they put us through all of these questions and go through some accident re-enactment just to deny the claim! These insurance agents are rude and now all seem to work out of town. I had the adjuster come out to view my car Upon inspection of my vehicle, the adjuster asked if she could buff out the damage to my vehicle, i thought it was odd and unprofessional for her to ask that, as it was not her job to ask me that, she stated she had a product to buff it out with her? I told her no and she proceeded to walk around my car and take pictures of all of my car scratches ect. In turn i received a total of of $64.00, out of total damages of $627.47. At one time, Personal Express was a good company. Things have really changed, at least for homeowners insurance. If they've transferred your policy to a company called National General Insurance (ngic.com), beware. Although the staff in the local office is still cordial, they are of no help whatsoever if you have an issue with a claim. In my opinion, if they are going to be the face for National General Insurance then they must also be able to assist their customers with claims. In my case, National General Insurance had several layers of "adjusters", one absent-minded fellow who showed up in Tehachapi instead of my house in Bakersfield and then claimed I was a no show. As a result, next up from him called me and left a nasty voice mail chastising me for being a no show. Next up from him was about as rude as they come and through many months of trying to get a response from him, he called me one time and then it was like pulling teeth to get part of the claim paid (it took months). We never received the entire amount of the claim. Personal Express "can do nothing" except transfer me to the adjuster's voice mail or to his manager who never once returned my calls. When I told Personal Express all this they told me there is only one Manager for the entire state of California. Anyway, we will cut our losses because we know of no way to get a response regarding our claim. It seems impossible at this point. I will never use Personal Express again. read more

We've had comp and collision etc auto insurance on both cars since forever. No tickets, no accidents and of course no claims. No other drivers, no teens or anyone under 25 in our home. Our policy renews in December so I got the renewal paperwork the other day and opened it. I've always been amazed that as our cars age and we cost them nothing our cost has never dropped a cent but change takes effort on my part and I've never shopped it anywhere else. I open it and see that our premium increased 24.6%. No change in coverage no claims paid out as I said. One car does 8K miles/yr the other 11K/yr. The 11K one doesn't drive the work commute. 24.6% isn't inflation. It's gouge for profit. So I'm shopping and have found it'll go down from my current by 16.2% with the same coverage and a couple of throw ins that have no value for me but a bit for my wife. So by shopping it instead of just paying the new rate I'm saving 40.8% off the new rates. Bye Felicia!! Fun fact there wasn't even a cover letter saying that there is an increase due to the office donut fund going dry or the price of Keurigs and Fiji water needs to be paid somehow, someway by someone-ME. I had Personal Express Insurance for several years. Due to a roof leak (beyond my control) in my home, I filed a claim (first and only) as I did not know what I was facing (not a roofer). They were quick at settling the claim that I thought was fair. However, upon renewal of my policies the this year, which included two homeowners policies, two auto policies, and a umbrella policy, all discounts for no claims filed in the last three years, good driver discounts for no tickets, no accidents, no DUI's, no claims filed, were all taken from me due to filing that one claim on my home. Homeowners went up $911.00, autos increased $702.00 for a total increase of $1613.00 p/year due to filing that one claim. The repair turned out to be two broken tiles from a golf ball as I live next to a golf course. I now have a roofer out before winter every year to inspect and repair my roof. Lesson learned, but still fill that this company is unfair. They also have closed their offices in N. Calif. and upon contact, stated they are not solicitating business in N. Calif. anymore. read more

I have been with Allstate for 30 years, heard of Maritsa Munoz who gave one hell of a quote to one of my co workers, emailed her and yes she emailed me much better price than Allstate. I email back asking to raise my medical to $10,000 from the $5,000 the quote included. It's been over a week and not phone call, no email, no nothing. It seem she is not interested on a my business. I have read some of these reviews and I'm glad I didn't jump over the quote and signed up. Allstate has never failed me, so I'll keep paying more per month, well worth my peace of mind. read more

Maybe but when it came to them and the claims department ( Eri Mendoza , Juan Garcia, ) horrible far from it . We found out after a drunk driver got my parked truck that certain aftermarket parts where not covered because I didn't "add a endorsement " never heard of it neither did our friends and coworkers. That's what happens when you leave a big company like farmers to "local " company. To this date I haven't even spoken to a "local agent " even though I have called and asked for a call back. Their Visalia office who receives the calls said to call them back if no one from the bakersfield office called me back . I called Maritsa Muños back and left a message she neither called back . Went as far as to reached out to the president (via email) Duane Peralta to no avail . Apparently they are under written by National General insurance....Shame. I guess "local friendly helpful agents " just doesn't mean what it use to. Save yourself the trouble, hassle and headache especially as all this happened during the holiday. We have used Personal Express Imsurance for nearly 25 years. In that time we have had a couple of homeowners claims which were filled with out any issues. However, recently I had a vehicle damage claim due to a hail storm in New Mexico. This was the first claim since they change to National General Insurance Company as their underwriter. I took my vehicle to one of their preferred auto repair providers. The appraiser examine the vehicle and located numerous areas of damage due to hail storm and completed the appraisal. Once the vehicle was submitted to the repair center for repair I was notified by first Personal Express that National General Insurance company would be taking over the claim as they'd disagreed with the auto repair center estimate. I was notified they would only be covering 1/10 of the original estimate claiming that damage was not caused as I describe. National General Insurance company sent out their own appraiser examined the vehicle and claimed that all damage except for two little areas was due to road damage or prior unreported vehicle damage. That appraiser also claimed that they located body filler from a previous damage repair on my truck. I explained to ngic that the vehicle had never been damaged and that the appraiser and mechanic that completed the actual repair to that area located no body filler that the appraiser claimed they have found. After speaking with several supervisors and managers at ngic I determine that they were not going to work with me on this claim and filed a complaint with the State Insurance Commission. I was told prior to this that they would provide all photographs that they had taken of the damage they claim to have had observe showing the damage. I've since been notified that they would not be providing those photographs. They have also refused to provide the rental car reimbursement that my policy included. I'm sorry that Personal Express has elected to use ngic as their underwriter as it will force me to seek a new insurance company. I have spent 25 years honoring my part of this business relationship by paying my premiums on time. However, when I needed to use the insurance they abandon me by claiming the damage was not caused in the manner in fact it had. Ngic felt more comfortable calling me a liar, which I am not, then honoring there obligation. read more

In late 2013, my insurance agent of 35 years with another company, retired. I was assigned a new agent, who I did not want to deal with. A friend recommended Personal Express. I got a quote and it was cheaper than what I currently had, so I went with them for both my home and auto insurance. In July 2015 I was involved in an incident on private property, damaging my truck. It did not involve any other vehicles, and did not result in any one being injured. I called my Personal Express agent to file a claim. ( She was great to work with). She referred me to the claims company for Personal Express, National General Insurance Company (NGIC). After over a week I finally had an estimator come out to look at the damage on my truck. Almost 2 weeks later I was told I could take my truck to the body shop to be repaired. I will spare all the details, but dealing with NGIC was a nightmare. I was told my truck would be repaired in 12-14 days. Due to the incompetence of NGIC, it took 32 days to get my truck repaired. They even refused to pay for my cheap rental car for 2 extra days, even though it was their fault it went past my 30 day rental car period. During this ordeal I communicated with the President of Personal Express, Duane Peralta, but he was condescending and flippant. After my repairs were completed, I canceled both my vehicle and homeowners policies, and went with with another local company that does not use NGIC for their claims. This was the worst experience I have ever had dealing with an insurance company! And, Personal Express has just been bought out by a large national company. I have been involved in two car accidents in the last 3 months, once as a driver and once as a passenger. In the first one the car was completely totaled; in the second, there was substantial damage to the rear end of the car. You hear about car accidents almost daily on the news, but you don't realize, until you are in an accident yourself, how immediate and long lasting the physical and emotional repercussions will be. Personal Express Insurance was the insurance company in both instances, so I have had the opportunity twice to interact with them. Raleigh Sadler (sp?) was our assigned agent, so I had the opportunity to talk with him on several occasions. I found him to be very polite, professional, and efficient. It was difficult for me to talk about the accident at first, but he immediately put me at ease. He was easy to reach by phone, and returned calls quickly and efficiently. On this last accident, we received our checks in under two weeks! My brother did a thorough comparison of insurance plans before he chose them. Personal Express Insurance was one of the most inexpensive options for auto insurance, but you get the same coverage and customer service you expect from the more well known (and more expensive) companies. Personal Express Insurance is a bad company. They do not cover any home owners claims. They are dishonest and a rip off. I put a claim in when my kitchen faucet sprung a leak and they didn't cover it. They are not local like they claim to be ,your claims adjuster is someone in LA And you can't call them. they call you , They just call you when the deny your claim. They work with leak detection company who is involved in this dirty operation. I'd give them no stars if possible. Stay away from this scam of a company. read more
