Today I was visiting different libraries as part of a personal project, and unfortunately, I had an uncomfortable experience with one of the librarians. From the moment I arrived and greeted her with a polite "good morning," I noticed a distant attitude; she didn't respond to my greeting, and when I later asked for the Wi-Fi password, she gave me a disapproving look. I found a quiet spot where no one was around, put on my headphones, and joined a virtual meeting, speaking in a moderate tone to avoid disturbing anyone. About 15 minutes later, the librarian approached me and abruptly asked me to leave, stating that the library was not a place for calls. While I understand and respect that rule, the way she communicated it came across as unnecessarily arrogant and unkind. It's not just about enforcing rules--it's also about how those rules are communicated. A more respectful approach would have made a big difference. read more

BEWARE...DO NOT GO TO THIS LIBRARY IF YOU ARE A PERSON OF COLOR. BEWARE October 3, 2019 time between 3-4 PM I came to the library today because my sister needed to finish her job application. As we went into the computer room it was a full house with all the computers in use except for three. We decided to use the two computer up front. As we are using the computer after an hour the librarian comes up to us and says we have to leave because we were on the computer the longest. As we turned around and looked the exact same people who were on the computers prior to us coming ( all non colored) were still there. We told the librarian its impossible for us to be on the computer the longest when at least 6 of the original people were still on the computer . She could care less about what we were saying and started logging my sister off the computer in a rush. She was really rude and could care less that my sister needed to finish. I asked to speak with the supervisor and she took me to Mr. Kevin a tall friendly fellow who actually listened and proceeded to walk me up stairs to resolve the issue. MR. Kevin was nice, friendly, professional and kind and tried to resolve the issue. 5 stars for Mr Kevin 0 stars for the mean librarian read more

First impressions are that this is a gorgeous library. We have a few requirements when it comes to libraries. Right now my kids are young so a good children's department is a must. And let's be honest, that includes a decent play area, because, sure, we come to the library to read books, but we also come so that my young kids can play and socialize with other kids their age. Libraries are one of few free places to do so in the wintertime. This library is lovely architecturally. We love the entrance with the stairs going up to the beautiful open layout filled with cozy stuffed animals. The open area has doored rooms to the side as if you're on a street with stores along the walk. Those "stores" are the rooms for their programs. We haven't attended those programs because we only use this library when in the area due to my husband's work. It's also great that the children's area is totally separate from the rest of the library, connected by a walkway that crosses over the road connecting the two parking lots. Pros are the fantastic atmosphere and this separation of spaces. We love how the library feels. Cons are that parking can be very tight and limited. And then for us, the greatest con is there is no play area. As I stated above, this is critical for our family. When we come to this library we create a fort of stuffed animals and read some books, but it just doesn't provide us the play area we need in order for my kids to socialize, and for us to really enjoy our visit for a decent length of time. Toddlers only want to read and pick out books for so long, and at this age, libraries are more than that to us. Still, I'd only knock off a star for this, even though it seriously limits the usability of the space for us. They have a great selection of new picture books though, and a lovely space for enjoying books, and at the heart of it all, that's what a library is for. read more

One of my favorite libraries in town. Loved it since I was a little girl, and now my kids have made it their #1 hangout spot.

This library is amazing, but small parking a lot. There is a separate building for kids, away from the adults. The kids area is filled with stuffed animals and in the middle has a large area with more stuffed animals for children to lay on to read. I honestly go there to read as well. It is like being at home. I love it, and it is fun to see the kids being able to explore and have fun as well. They are not forced to be quiet but they do not scream and yell either. Either way, the adults who need the quiet are on the other side anyways so it wouldn't bother them. read more

Yes, I am reviewing a library. This is one of my favorite places for quiet time alone. It's within walking distance for me, and right across the street from the park. I love that it's so small and charming inside. I think it's brilliant that the children's collection is in a separate building so I can relax and browse magazines without distraction. read more
