Ferguson library, Stamford.
Denise A.

I visited this library for the first time to see a documentary focusing on a Bridgeport resident who is a Holocaust survivor from Germany called, "Robbery of the Heart." Moving and excellent. The survivor, his sister, daughter and director were present at the viewing and were gracious enough to have a Q & A following. Vast library with several floors filled with books and resources and a spacious auditorium on the third floor with a huge screen and ample seating where this documentary was shown. Movies are shown here free for public viewing. So great to see a library open on a Sunday and offering so many activities and options. There is also a bookstore on the first floor. Staff so attentive and most helpful. Lots going on here!

I've loved this library since I was 5. I grew up in a tiny town in NJ, where the library was about 10 shelves of books. I loved reading so when I would visit my Dad in CT for the weekend, he would bring me here. For a child, this library is amazing. Its enormous. They also make it easy to find a book that you're looking for. If they don't have it, they can check the other libraries and either have it sent there or put it on hold for you to go pick it up. They have computers to use (that area can get pretty crowded though) On the rare occasion that I've needed help, the librarians have always been really helpful.

From the moment I arrived and greeted her with a polite "good morning," I noticed a distant attitude; she didn't respond to my greeting, and when I later asked for the Wi-Fi password, she gave me a disapproving look. I found a quiet spot where no one was around, put on my headphones, and joined a virtual meeting, speaking in a moderate tone to avoid disturbing anyone. About 15 minutes later, the librarian approached me and abruptly asked me to leave, stating that the library was not a place for calls. While I understand and respect that rule, the way she communicated it came across as unnecessarily arrogant and unkind. It's not just about enforcing rules--it's also about how those rules are communicated. A more respectful approach would have made a big difference.

BEWARE…read more October 3, 2019 time between 3-4 PM I came to the library today because my sister needed to finish her job application. As we went into the computer room it was a full house with all the computers in use except for three. We decided to use the two computer up front. As we are using the computer after an hour the librarian comes up to us and says we have to leave because we were on the computer the longest. As we turned around and looked the exact same people who were on the computers prior to us coming ( all non colored) were still there. We told the librarian its impossible for us to be on the computer the longest when at least 6 of the original people were still on the computer . She could care less about what we were saying and started logging my sister off the computer in a rush. She was really rude and could care less that my sister needed to finish. I asked to speak with the supervisor and she took me to Mr. Kevin a tall friendly fellow who actually listened and proceeded to walk me up stairs to resolve the issue. MR. Kevin was nice, friendly, professional and kind and tried to resolve the issue. 5 stars for Mr Kevin 0 stars for the mean librarian
