My review is so so hard to write. We just helped our deeply loved and sweetest dog across the Rainbow Bridge with the expert, kind and respectful help of Dr Perl. Our baby was in such pain and he was not going to get better. As hard as it is to write this as our loss and pain is fresh I must tell you Dr Perl was an angel to us and to our pet. All of us on the kitchen floor, he guided us through everything, honored us saying goodbye and thank you, and most of all carefully and with great respect led our boy home. What remains with us along with terrible grief and wonderful memories is knowing we loved our dog so much that we turned to Dr Perl. There is no substitute for his healing presence in our home to help our boy. It is a testament to his devotion to animals and their humans that Dr Perl runs his practice where we call home. read more

The fact that he comes to you takes so much stress off of your fur son or daughter and that peace of mind is priceless! But beyond taking care of your own, I wanted to share his character. I am helping a homeless gentleman who has a 12 year-old American bulldog and she was throwing up and I told the gentleman let me take her home with me so she can get some sleep and not be on the alert as she too is homeless. I reached out to Dr. Perl and he came over to my home in Bethesda and gave muffin an anti-nausea shot and when I asked him how much he said, absolutely nothing! You name one other business that would do that... You can't! By the grace of God, my little girl, Charlie has only received her vaccinations from him. There have not been any health issues of any kind! But I do know if there ever are... The answer will always be Dr. Perl! IF DR. PERL IS AN OPTION, THEN THERE IS NO OTHER! read more

So grateful to Dr. Perl's care of my cat! I was sure she was dying, but he reassured me that she wasn't! And she's feeling so much better now! read more

Dr. Perl came by to examine our cats and give them their rabies and distemper shots. Despite the fact that our larger cat hissed and clawed at him during the process, he remained professional, funny, and calm. Our next-door neighbors selected him to examine their new puppy and recommended him to us, which is how we found out about him. I'm passing on their recommendation and ours--contact him through myvetcalls.com, his prices are competitive with the big providers in DC, and he'll come to your house. read more

Please be sure Dr Perl does the annual recommended blood work for your dog. I am writing this review so you can learn from my experience. Especially in this climate ask for tests for lyme disease. Dr Perl is a genius. He diagnosed my cat's issue by phone due to the pandemic and he was absolutely accurate. He saved me and my kitty tremendous amounts of discomfort and anxiety and his diagnosis was not only exact but his treatment plan took effect almost immediately. My cat and I are feeling so much better and we are both so very grateful to Dr Perl. Shout out to Dr Perl. read more

He is the BEST. Having had dogs for 30 years and seen many vets , none compare to Dr. Perl. He diagnosed a rare tick borne disease that a specialty Vet Hospital missed and saved the lives of two of our dogs.He helped treat and care for one of our dogs with cancer. His routine care is also top of the line. He is warm, compassionate and very knowledgable. Plus he makes house calls! To top it off his rates are lower than most office vets. If you love your dogs and cats then he is the vet for you. read more

Dr. Perl is awesome: knowledgable, gentle, and clinically savvy. Packing up my dog and 3 cats to take them to a veterinary office was traumatic to them and a huge hassle for me... I am so glad I don't have to do that anymore! Kudos to Dr. Perl for providing this valuable service. read more

Perl Solomon M DVM - Zoe waiting for Dr. Perl to arrive. She gets motion sickness in the car so we love the convenience of home visits! - Veterinarians Near Me - Beltsville, Maryland

Dr. Perl is a lifesaving professional: a highly skilled, super-intelligent, and compassionate veterinarian. Over the course of about 20 years, he has taken care of seven of our cats and solved a host of problems. He clearly knows what he's doing; his business practices are honest and transparent; and his fees are more than reasonable. The advantage of having an experienced, pragmatic veterinarian like Dr. Perl make home visits is invaluable. I have recommended him to all the people I love. read more

A kind, knowledgeable Veterinarian who makes house calls. What could be better? My skittish cat is so lucky, as am I

Seemed like a decent vet, but then walked off with all our animals' paperwork and then didn't return our calls.

The best. Has enabled me to compassionately care for my menagerie the past ten years. Very reasonable and much less stressful for my cats and dogs When the sad time comes he helps my beloved pets cross the rainbow bridge My pets all like him, shots and all read more

I brought my cat home from Friendship Animal Hospital (I would never recommend them) with a diagnosis of terminal kidney cancer. She appeared so sick when I brought her home, I called Dr. Solomon thinking it was time she was put to sleep. I had never had to do that before and it was extremely difficult. Dr. Solomon came to my home and checked her and said that she was not in pain and not ready to go. He gave me 1 more week with my precious baby. There are no words to express my gratitude for that. I'm not sure if other vets would do that. A week later when it was time, Dr. Solomon came when I needed him (same day notice) and he was patient, kind and gentle with my cat and I. He made the process less painful than if I did it at the vet clinic, with another vet. I'm sure about that. I would recommend him wholeheartedly and will be calling him again. read more

I used Dr. Perl's services for the first time today and it was a wonderful experience! He showed up on time, did a quick wellness check and vaccines and offered me helpful advice. And my usually super anxious cat was so much better when she didn't have to get in a carrier (an impossible feat) or in the car. I will definitely be using him for my future vet care. After this experience, I can't imagine why someone would go through the hassle of driving their pet to a veterinarian's office. read more

Dr. Perl couldn't have made my dog passing away any worse. He arrived minutes after my dog had passed, holding a trash bag to take her body. He never said sorry. I felt her still breathing and I begged him to check her heart beat to ensure she was gone before he "bagged her up" and took her away. He slapped a stethoscope on her, said "de Nile is a River in Egypt".,.. word for word.... then threw the stethoscope at me and told me I could listen myself if I didn't believe him...... This was my baby. She had cancer and had passed literally minutes before he came into the room. He immediately asked for payment and stood there with a garbage bag like she was a piece of trash and he had somewhere he needed to be quickly. I've had nightmares thinking to myself "why would I let this person take my dog out that way"? I have never regretted anything more in my life. I wish I had someone come in and tell me they're sorry, then check everything and tell me she's gone and I could take my time, or atleast even just a minute or two to say goodbye. That is NOT Dr. Perl. It's taken me a full week to write this review. Please do not reach out to him if you care at all about your pet. I will never get over the last 30 minutes I got to see my precious baby. He made it a horrific, unforgivable disgusting experience. If I can save anyone from that, this review was worth it. Stay AWAY from this callous, cold, hardened man. read more

Dr Perl is absolutely the best! We first started relying on Dr Perl about 5 years ago with an aging mini Aussie that was terrified of going to the vet. It is truly a pleasure to watch him with care with kindness and respect for your beloved pet. Since we rescued an older aussie 2 yrs ago, Dr Perl has been terrific helping us sort out her issues. His advice is always pragmatic, and his sense of humor unfailing. Oh, and did I mention Dr Perl's fees? Totally reasonable!!! We wondered why we hadn't sought him out earlier. read more

The worst experience we ever had with a vet. 10 years later and I am still heartbroken about it. We contacted Dr. Solomon Perl, at the recommendation of the pet crematorium, when it was time to put our beloved cat to sleep. We had thought about taking her to our regular vet, but she hated going, and we didn't want her last hour to be scary and awful. We wanted it to at home, with us, in her favorite bed. So we contacted Dr. Perl to come to our home and put our baby out of her lung tumor trouble-breathing misery. We didn't like the way he sounded on the phone but it was a Friday on a holiday weekend and there was no one else. We had waited too long and we knew the weekend would be bad. So Dr. Perl it was. We made the appointment Thursday, and spent Friday filling her last day with as many favorite things as possible. He forgot about us. The appointment time came and went. After an hour, we called to ask where he was. He said he had forgotten and would be there in an hour. 2 hours past the appointment time, he arrived, rushed. If I had to describe his attitude, it was: let's get to it and get it done as quickly as possible, I have places to be. So he proceeded to give our baby a sedative. He wanted to test whether it had worked, so he pushed up her head with his hand and then let it flop down. I can't explain to you the emotions after seeing that. Rage, heartbreak, complete dumbfoundedness. I will never forget that moment. Of all the body parts, he could have used to test her sedation...it was just so disrespectful. Then he prepped her final injection and went to give it to her. He didn't prep us. He didn't say "This is it, do you want a moment?" Just sedate and kill as fast as possible. I realized what was happening, turned around tear-soaked and sobbing, and asked him to give us a minute. Actually, I think it came out more as a scream. He gave us the moment we needed. Then, he gave her the injection, asked if we wanted him to take the body, and left when we declined. Recently, I was talking to someone who had had a different vet come to her house to put her dog to sleep. She described the idyllic last day she and her husband gave her baby. Then, she described the vet. The vet had talked with them beforehand. She REMEMBERED THE APPOINTMENT. She described everything in the moment. She prepped them about what to expect from each injection. When she was ready to give the final injection, she said to my friend, "She's ready when you are." I was heartbroken and so envious comparing her experience to ours. That's the experience I wanted. I tried to give my friend comfort by telling her she gave her baby the best last day possible. I told her we had tried to, but she had actually achieved it. She then asked about the experience. After hearing the story, she asked, unprompted, "Was it Dr. Perl?" Apparently, she had interviewed him too, and didn't like the way he sounded. She almost had Dr. Perl for her baby's perfect last day. That's when I decided to write this review. I don't want anyone else to have the painful experience we did. We tried to do the best for our baby by putting her to sleep at home. We tried to do everything right. Instead, we got Dr. Perl. This will forever be a wound and a sore-spot for me. Forever a regret. 10 years later and it still hurts. read more

Dr. Perl, Thank you so much for all your help today. You immediately understood our need and came to our home right away. You patiently waited for me to get home so that my wife and I could say goodbye to our beloved Viva together. You were so gentle when you examined him. You explained everything that you would do and what we should expect so that we wouldn't be surprised. You are an amazingly patient, caring and compassionate man and we are so fortunate to have found you so that Viva could find peace in his own home. Thank you for everything. read more

I am thanking you Dr Perlman from the bottom of my heart. You made my dog Maizie's passing so much easier than I pictured it could be. Sol has taken care of our dogs for about ten years. We first engaged him because my lab would get so distressed at going to the vet she would throw up. The dogs love Sol and he will take care of them any time they need him. He most recently put my 16 year old lab to sleep and I could not have asked for more compassionate, thoughtful care. read more

Dr. Solomon is a very caring and competent professional. Based on my personal experience, I have no hesitation in recommending his services. He is reliable, prompt and willing to work with clients. Many home care vets will require two weeks or more notice for an appointment. Dr. Perl is very flexible on scheduling. I have recommended him to a couple of my neighbors and they too are very pleased with the service they received. read more

Dr. Perl has a wonderful combination of great technical skills and wonderful bedside manner. When the time came for our 15 year old husky to go, Dr. Perl explained the process and made us feel at ease. He showed heartfelt care for the family and was very gentle. My cat won't stand for being placed in a cat carrier. So, Dr. Perl to the rescue. He made a housecall and easily and kindly took care of an examination and vaccinations. Great cat-side manner and reasonably priced for the human. I will call him every time and recommend that you do too. read more

Social media sites have increasingly become our primary source when seeking quality service firms, as we trust the thoughtful feedback/reviews and have rarely been disappointed - our experience with Dr. Solomon Perl has been no exception. When we made our initial call (a few years ago) related to care of our dog, Dr. Perl responded promptly and was very knowledgeable/understanding, helping us to confirm whether the issue was one which we could resolve on our own. Since that experience, every interaction has been characterized by wonderful staff who answer the phone and ensure accurate communication, as well as prompt follow-up and careful assessment of any concern. Dr. Perl's convenient scheduled visits to our home always reduce stress and anxiety for our pet, who seems to welcome the attention, even when accompanied by a shot or teeth cleaning (without anesthetic!) We have consistently appreciated the personal attention, quality service and reasonable price that characterizes every interaction with Dr. Perl. It's not hard to understand why his unique veterinarian practice is successfully growing, largely due to referrals and loyal returning patients. Dr. Perl earns top ratings from Yelp and other independent sites. It is without hesitation we recommend him to others and happily add our own positive feedback (for both price and quality) to the many other outstanding reviews! read more

Dr. Perl euthanized our 18-year-old beloved cat today, a day after coming on short notice and diagnosing an inoperable tumor. Dr. Perl was realistic but gentle about our options, and made our cat as comfortable as possible until we had a chance to prepare ourselves for the inevitable. The end was as peaceful and non-traumatic as anyone could possibly hope. I've had to go through this procedure with previous pets at a vet's office and there was no comparison. Dr. Perl is excellent. He inspires trust and confidence, and we will definitely rely on him for care of our other cats, who will be very happy not to have to go to a vet's office anymore. read more

Dr. Perl was terrific. Unfortunately we had to euthanize our beloved cat who had cancer. We had done all we could for him and it was finally time. Dr. Perl was kind, patient, compassionate, and professional during what was a very difficult time for us. We appreciated these qualities very much and I would not hesitate to recommend him to others. He seemed to be very competent and he takes care of healthy pets too... read more

As our lovely Doberman, Holly, began to suffer from her spinal problem, I knew that the time was coming when we would have to ease her departure. Since she could no longer climb up into the car, the possibility of taking her to the vet was no longer an option, so I searched for a veterinarian who could come to the house and found Dr. Solomon Perl. When he first came to the house, I was a wreck. He could see that the idea of losing my loving dog was a heartbreaker for me. (I'm weeping as I write this.) He checked Holly out and informed me that she was not really in any great pain and still seemed interested in getting around and going outside, so he asked if I was really ready to go ahead now, or would I rather wait. That reprieve was greeted with gratitude and tears. I paid him for his long drive to NW DC and for his analysis of Holly's condition and (left unsaid) for his understanding of human nature - my human nature. A month or so later, I called him again, and again he came. Holly remembered him and wagged her stub of a tail. He sat with her on the floor as she leaned on him as he again looked her over and again gave me the option of waiting. Again, with tears and gratitude, I accepted the possibility of keeping Holly with me for another short time. This time, he declined payment and wished me well. A week later, however, Holly had deteriorated quite a bit. She had great difficulty standing up and staying up, would fall frequently, and needed my help coming down the stairs to my room on the ground floor. I knew the time was here. I called Dr. Perl and he came. He agreed that, yes, the time had come. With great tenderness he administered the appropriate drugs and Holly - my closest, most loving friend over the past four years - went to sleep. As much of a tragedy which that day was to me, I have to thank Dr. Perl for his expertise, his willingness to accommodate our needs, his compassion for my loving dog and for his understanding of the emotional state I was in. He was as much a doctor to me as to her. You might wonder why a grown man would develop such an attachment to a dog after only four years, but it would be clearer if you knew that I had been an infantry combat medic in 1968 during the Vietnam War. I had worked on a good many men, and many of them died and some of them were my friends. I left Vietnam with burdens of grief and guilt that were never reconciled. I was diagnosed with 100% service connected PTSD in 1997 and began a solitary life. Since I left Vietnam in 1969 I had closed myself off to closeness with any living being. It was not till this dog worked her way into my heart that I opened up to actually loving her. As she loved me. I'm convinced today that God put dogs on this earth to teach humans how to love. I came to understand that after I watched this friend die. That was December 15, 2016. I have not been able to face writing this review until now because thinking about the loss of such a faithful friend is very difficult. It brings back the memories of how we rescued a rowdy, three-year-old, semi-wild dog from the PG County dog pound and how we had got her used to us and how she developed into a dog who knew she was at HER home, with HER family, at last. read more
