Short notice night before order for a floral arrangement can sometimes be nerve wracking. I was wanting to send some flowers to a friend for her birthday in the Chicago burbs and saw that Periwinkle got great reviews. I selected 'designer choice' which is something I am noticing now with florist vs. picking a pictured flower arrangement. I am really digging it, since then you are never disappointed that the florist created an arrangement that never turns out like the picture it seems. Anyway, the arrangement arrived by mid-day which was perfect and it turned out beautiful! The five star clincher for me was that when I asked my friend if the flowers smelled (since flowers never seem to smell anymore?) and she said absolutely and that they were incredibly fragrant! I am one of "those" people who called ONE day before Mother's Day to order flowers and loved the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, Kelly, very cheerful and lovely (no automatic answering on what is probably their busiest day of the year) told me they didn't deliver to the area my loved one lived...BUT she didn't stop there and unbidden, took the time to recommended not one but two local florists in the right area (I prefer to support local businesses) that DID deliver. When I thanked her she said they "loved to recommend other designers". It is precisely THIS attitude that makes for a good business. TRY THIS FLORIST FIRST!! I called Periwinkle based on a referral from our outstanding local florist, ChristopherJohn in Orland Pk who did not deliver to this area. Periwinkle was wonderfu! Last June, my lifelong best friend's husband died & I entrusted this very important floral tribute to Axva'x flowers. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! NEVER AGAIN! Trying to find an independently owned, non-phone bank florist in the Algonquin area was VERY difficult--especial since on both occasions-- it was a holiday. Axva's was horrible!! But our outstanding local florist, ChristopherJohn in Orland Pk, IL (who does not deliver to Algonquin) suggested independently owned Periwinkle Flowers. I told Diane specifically what I wanted & she more than complied for my best friend's mother's passing--though I do not recommend a late order, under the circumstances, they complied with a 1pm order on a holiday weekend, delivery by 3pm! The arrangement was beautiful & I can not complain about anything from this florist! Many others who do high-style arrangements could not deliver until Tues-- after the Memorial Day Holiday. My mom ordered flowers for me through an online source and paid 75.00 for a large bouquet. Periwinkle Florist was chosen to send out the flowers for this online entity. What we received was pathetic compared to the online photo, which was beautiful. The flowers were not arranged but lumped together and thrown in a vase. Some of the flowers were wilting, there was no packaging, and they were half the size of the picture. When we called to complain, the owner made excuses saying that we ordered the flowers through a 3rd party and she didn't get paid what we paid. She also said she had to pay for them to be delivered. That is not how this is supposed to work and she knows it. My sister also received flowers from the same online company but received them through another florist and her flowers were beautiful. So, Periwinkle is using this online company to make money by duping their (the online companies) customers with less than adequate floral arrangements for the price. She thought she could get away with it but my mom happened to be at my house when I received the flowers. I guess if you aren't a direct customer you get crappy flowers. Makes me sick how people take advantage. read more

My husband (bless him) loves to give me flowers, and he swears by this place. This local florist, located in downtown Cary, always makes the most beautiful and fresh bouquets. They always last weeks instead of days, and they have some of the biggest roses I have ever seen! (Even on Valentine's Day when you know they are swamped, the flowers were delivered on time and were top quality.) We even had them make a bouquet over the phone while we were out of town for my sister-in-law's birthday, and everyone at her party said they were just unbelievable. Our wedding was a week after Irma rolled through and there were a couple types of flowers that could not make it through customs in Miami since the airport was shut down. Sue truly outdid herself in finding replacement flowers on a last minute basis and they were above and beyond what I had ever imagined! She also was super flexible with all the last minute changes we had. Our cake was stunning, she placed the flowers perfectly for what I had envisioned. The florist did a great job with the order and the flowers were beautiful. I only have one nitpick and that is that some of the greenery in the bouquet had extremely short stems and unless the vase was filled to withing an inch from the top, the stems for them would be out of the vase. My mom ended up just leaving the water at a normal height and when the greenery dies from lack of water, she'll just remove them... read more
