Anti-maskers. If you care at all about taking precautions, avoid Performance Tune Auto. The lobby is tiny, no attempts at social distancing. At both drop off and pick up, employees behind the desk were maskless. I asked and they said they "don't believe in them but will wear one if a customers asks." Well thanks but you're already inside this small space without a mask so...Do they think the pandemic is over? Do they not care about asymptomatic spread or public health? Also, front desk was very aloof even before I asked about their lack of mask. I will not be returning. read more

I took my car in for the check engine light coming on repeatedly. They said they could do a temporary fix for $400 but, really, I'd be better off selling my car to them for cheap because it would only run for like a year more. I did the fix for $400, check engine light came on the next day. A week later, I took it to the dealership (where I should have gone in the first place). They dealership charged me $700 for the fix and it's been rolling now--no issues with the check engine light or anything besides routine maintenance--for five years. I mentioned this to a friend, and he said--oh yeah! that place? They said I should sell them my car cheap, but I took it somewhere else, fixed for a few hundred and no issues. Okay, so I've heard this story from multiple people now about this place. It's sketchy. I wouldn't go there. read more

Brought in a 2015 Honda CR-V with 155k miles for for a 60-point pre-purchase inspection. Was done with care and consideration - worth every penny of $186. The car checked out with only three minor recommended services. Bought the car and brought it in again for fairly-priced servicing, completed same day. Best thing about the experience was Michael Southworth, our Customer Service Specialist. He is quite knowledgable and straight shooting, and oversaw the whole process with great interpersonal skill and patient explanations. Highly recommend. I have been a mechanic for a number of year and purchased a performance motor for my vehicle and installed it myself. It was making a noise I knew was not right and so I started reaching out to local shops. This shop was the only one to take it without hesitation. The lovely boyfriend of mine took our car in for brake pad changes as our old ones needed to be replaced after 46,000 miles. My boyfriend had nothing but great things to say about this spot. I've taken my car in twice, and twice the issues failed to be resolved. They had me spending $700+ on a new battery, alternator belt, then the alternator itself and now I'm unable to make it to work to earn another paycheck and a half to give to them because my car is on the side of the road. I was looking for a car repair shop I could trust. What I got was much more. Not only are the people great but they provide a diagnostic on what's wrong with your car that you can trust. They pay their employees a salary, not a commission like almost every other shop does. So this means all they care about is providing the best service rather than finding new things to charge you for. My wife and I just moved here from Oregon, and have been looking for an honest local mechanic. Well, looks like we've lucked out! I love a place where I can go and not be embarrassed about how little I know about cars. At Performance Tune they treat you with respect and are honest about the work they do. I would rather pay these guys to do an oil change than one of the quick jiffy lube places. Just had all my fluids changed here as well, and my car is running smoother than it was before. Jeff and Dane saved us. Drove 1200 miles without A/c in 90 degree heat. Long story short our Ohio mechanic diagnostic test concluded a high pressure line needed to be replaced. We couldn't locate the part prior to our trip but had one delivered to Fort Collins. We called Performance Tune Auto Repair to see if they could squeeze our car in same day as every other shop said 7-10 days. They got us in Dane worked his lunch and Jeff made everything happen. They ran a new diagnostic test and found that the issue was not the line but a couple of valves. They had them replaced and our vehicle was finished inside of a couple hours. I own a 2000 Dodge Dakota and have owned it for 15 years. Ive done all internal and cosmetic repairs myself, due to accessibility to a shop. I recently moved to Fort Collins in the middle of 2017. My truck randomly lost oil pressure one morning on the way to work and I live close to this shop, so I decided to take it to performance tune. The shop does absolutely incredible work. They quoted me for a price and the final charge was only $20 extra due to a necessary oil change, which they called and asked me about. I had the best experience ever with Performance Tune. I will NEVER go to another place. I took my car in for a rattling noise that was coming from my engine to another mechanic shop and they quoted me over $1600.00. My boyfriend called around and suggested that I take it to Performance Tune to get a second opinion and man oh man did I get one. I paid $16.00 to get my car fixed and Scott was amazing. He brought me back into the shop and showed me what I needed to do to take care of my car. He showed my where the problem was coming from and showed me a diagram of the problem area. It was hands on and I couldn't have asked for anything better!! It was a wonderful experience and I am so grateful for the amazing service that I received. As a full-time student, they were so affordable and so nice. I will continue to get my car taken care of there because I trust them and know that I won't get taken advantage of. Very Disappointed by this garage. The transmission in my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 was rebuilt by Performance Auto Tune at a cost of $1200. Fifth gear was grinding after the vehicle was returned to me. I brought this issue to the attention of the Owner, Rob. He advised me the wrong oil was put into the transmission after the rebuild. They changed the oil. One year and a week after the transmission was rebuilt it failed. I had no forward gears. I was also in Downtown Denver. The tow bill which I have not recovered was $472. It took three weeks for Performance Tune to return the vehicle to me for a warranty service. When the vehicle was returned 4th gear was and continues to grind. I've gone looking for a new mechanic. UPDATE: The owner, in a bid to buy me off, "Mr. Childs, I have made arrangements to pay for your tow with Schmer's Towing if you will take your reviews down." I will not. At the bottom will be answers to what Rob had to say. Backstory: I had multiple issues with my car which ended with finally overheating which resulted in me being stranded, and my car dead completely. Why? Well the piecemeal fixing of my car. It started well back with brake work. Actually my sister had. Her car, remember? Then the waterpump replaced. Fine. I had the alternator replaced. I had the radiator replaced. Fine. But why none of the coolant hoses? One burst. Fine. But did they replace both? No, just one. So I am stranded and overheated off the side of the freeway missing work. Again, another bursts, I am stranded again and another coolant hose was replaced. I used all my Triple-A tows within several months because of this. A year's worth. And like an idiot I kept coming back. I had previously had belt issues, which were not properly adjusted, leaving my battery dead in the heart of winter. I had them replace the valve covers of my engine, oil changes, water pump, brake work beyond pads and a mystery acceleration issues. I had literally spent thousands there under the assurance that the little 1989 Tracer, which had not seen 100,000 miles, would see another. All from October 2013, to now. I trusted them. In for penny, in for a pound, ya know? This resultant overheating, and replacement piecemeal, of my car's radiator and coolant hoses caused my engine to die. Rather than admit any culpability when again it overheated and coolant smoke was pouring out of my car, and again I was stranded? I paid for the tow and 55 bucks to be informed my car was now functionally dead. They were almost antagonistic. It wasn't as if I was a stranger. They'd seen me quite regularly. They even admitted the heat stress likely caused it to die. Overheated to the point of melting my radiator? I had driven for 15 minutes on my commute to loveland, and yet of course it had nothing to do with the coolant issues, only to be stranded. I will never do business with them and encourage you not to as well. Cheaper is not always better and if my car had been fixed initially, or even on the second visit, likely the head gasket which cracked would be in better shape. I am beyond disappointed in their behavior towards me, especially when I, and my sister, spent thousands (on the same car) only to have the car last a few months. UPDATE: Rob says I did not ask for Diagnostics, but that's fallacious at best. How did any of these problems get diagnosed without diagnostics? Mysterious acceleration? I doubt the details were in a shop notes he just mentioned. Yes they adjusted the acceleration cable. This was after failing to find out what was wrong. It did nothing but give me a hypersensitive gas pedal. It turned to be an UN-related issue with a piece of plastic being caught from a hose flap. It would flare out and get caught in the acceleration cable randomly. The tension on it was FINE. Before it was adjusted But I was told it was fixed. This we found out when I got my car back and a few blocks away, it started accelerating without any pressure to the gas. It got to the point I had to turn it off to keep it from revving into the red or sending me through a red light. I drove it back and then it was fixed. But again Rob knows none of this. He knows what shop notes he's pulled up. As to why I owned this car? My sister joined the peace corps. I was to keep the car running till she got back. It lasted 5 months into her tour. That was my Goal, to give a car back to my baby sis when she returned from Ecuador. I never talked to Rob over any of the pertinent details. He was merely the gregarious old man who had given me a ride home once. He is an owner not an operator. The former shop manager Michah was, and did he document all conversations? Unlikely but I know very well the substance of those conversations and I damn well had asked to have the car shaken down to see what could go wrong. That he can comment on conversations he was never a part of is his attempt to thwart a bad review. Nothing more. I requested, on multiple occasions, diagnostics so as NOT to be stranded. 4 hours in winter waiting for a tow will do that to ya. It wasn't as if this was my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, or tenth visit. I was loyal because I trusted their assurances they could help keep my car running. It had less than a 100,000 miles. It wasn't as if I demanded they fix it, but collaboratively asked what it would take and IF it was worth it. And I was repeatedly assured that yes it was. Why else would I keep coming back and spend thousands of dollars on what became a money pit? I would've moved on to another car. Thankfully social media will allow me to share this. read more

Needed a quick oil change and wanted a second opinion on what is wrong with my Toyota Tacoma. Read a few Yelp reviews and decided to try this place. Great choice. They squeezed me in for an oil change and gave some great advice on my truck. I met the owner and he told me about how they really pride themselves on being thorough, honest, and cost efficient for the customer. I had my dog with me because we had to visit the CSU vet that morning, and they were completely fine with me bringing my dog in while we waited for the truck to be finished. I plan to visit this place again, even though I don't live in Fort Collins. read more

My car broke down late night while dropping my daughter off at CSU. Called first thing in the morning (Mike actually answered about 5 minutes before open time) and was told that they would squeeze me into the schedule. I had my car towed to the shop (close to campus) by my insurance company. Issue was an electrical short. Preston was fantastic! He worked his you-know-what off seeking out the source of the problem. After spending considerable time on it, he determined where the short existed, but not the location of the problem. Rather than end-running it and performing the "quick-fix" he spent the time and effort to track down the problem and sent me on my way back home (900+ miles) with the confidence that the issue was truly solved. The owner Pat was also at the shop and was truly concerned about my experience and getting a good result out of the repair. While I hope not to experience any auto problems while traveling in Ft Collins, if I do - I know where I'm taking my car. I requested a quote for specific work and the response I received was nonsense. Bring it in for $40 Diagnosis to receive a quote. I love it when people arbitrarily waste my time. Guess I won't be going here ever.. Yes, like I said, I asked exactly what work I wanted a quote for. Other auto shops have given me an exact quote based on the information I provided for the services requested. I'm aware hypothetically the condensor and lines may not need replacing, however I just wanted to be prepared for the worst case scenario. I didn't put a time limit on when I wanted the quote, you could've easily looked up the parts and expected labor time for what I asked, Instead you decided to be lazy and just tell me to bring it in so you could make $40 to provide a quote. If your that lazy on the phone I would never do buisness with you. Also great for anyone thinking of interacting with you to see that the first thing you did was post my personal information online for the world to see. no ase certified techs still wants top dollar for repairs. have seen every car that new tech has touched come back same issue. shouldn't be the choice that any one makes for their next repair job. Owner did fire me but only reason for post is to inform public that there are concerns that need to be thought about before a thirty thousand or more investment is brought there for repair work. The lifts have all but one been c ondemened ant told to not be used reported to osha should be able to check status with them on fixed or not. is not only dangerous for your car but anyone using them to get under car. read more

my wife and i have been taking both gas and diesel powered cars and trucks to rob etc for years and have always been so confident that we would get first class service AND were often told that we did NOT need something repaired/replaced when they easily could have fleeced us; this has happened a number of times and it is the first place ever that i felt that what was actually wrong was addressed and repaired without feeling like the bill was padded with unnecessary repairs. My hood latch was stuck and I needed an oil change, they say bring it today. I CALL THEM at the end of the first day when it almost closes. This buffoon Mike asks me to hold to try and call me on the other line while I'm on the line with him to save his ass. He tells me they need it another day. He says they need to look at some other stuff and I ask for a price quote for the items he suggests. He gives the quote for one item and then says "ah shucks someone shut off my computer, can I call you back," "sure" I says. He never calls back. No not until the middle of the next day when he says I need bearings and some other stuff for around $1650, I tells him "well I don't have that kind of dough" he says "well it's really unsafe and you shouldn't drive it and you'll have to sign some sort of waiver. So I go in pay the man for the work done he never mentions the waiver and I drive right over to another mechanic that says it's the ball joints, bearings are fine and you need an alignment for about $650. They were nice I even think they owner said hi. But who cares about all that gobbledygook if they waste your time and money on being incompetent. read more
