Complete lack of transparency, difficult to contact, and worse, they let all your accounts go into collections purposely in order to negotiate a better settlement, which means lots of angry phone calls and letters. The services provided by Performance Settlement were terrible. I graduated this program because I got a loan with an extremely high interest rate just to be done with them. When I signed up, I was given a monthly payment for 38 months and by the end, I would have all my debt paid off. Almost 2 years into it, I was informed there was no way I would complete in that time frame. I was lied to and screwed over by Performance Settlement, which a supervisor confirmed with me. They are suppose to help you fix your Credit however the guy didn't do what he said and they took the payment out when I said I wouldn't have money and bounced my checking acct. They are ridiculous to speak too having to restate the facts over and over plus I still have not got my money while the computer continues to call and threaten to take out more. Performance settlement is a business that is to help settle debt for consumers. I was in a dark place when I contacted them for help. Very depressed in tears and they did take advantage of that state of mind. I had asked more then once what the rate was for them to handle my account the reply was... don't worry about it, we don't take our fee until all is collected and finished. We take our fee at the end. But what is the fee. Don't worry, we will take care of your creditors for you and you just pay a monthly fee based on the enrolled amount and we will reduce the amount with your creditors. All you have to do is change you address and contact information so the creditors contact us. So I e signed the papers, while the guy walked me through it. Not reading it as we went. This was June 2017. So for two years I am to pay roughly $462 a month. for approximately $10,800 worth of enrolled debt. Ok I did my best to keep up these payments but had lost my job and I am on social security... So my main source of income is Social Security and I did have a promotions job as well. So time goes on and Im feeling better and start questioning this business. In October of 2018 I gambled and won a lot of money. I contacted performance settlement. I think I talked to Josh, But apparently he doesn't work there anymore. I asked what is the total amount I owe to Performance Settlement to pay all the creditors so I don't have anymore monthly payments to your company. He said $3700. I said ok SO if I give you $3700 I wont have to pay any more monhtly payment, we will be all settled. He said yes, You'll graduate the program and all your enrolled debt will be good. There could be a little left that you owe or we owe you, But yes you'll graduate. He had also put me on hold and asked a "supervisor" to check... I said ok are you sure this is it, because if I do a lump sum I will not be able to continue monthly payments. He said YES... SO I paid $3700 and thought ok, I can now live on my Social security and all is good. Come November and I get a notice that my account will be debited $465 on the 15th. I said NO... We settled my account in October and I don't owe anymore. They said Sorry, That was all your creditors except one. You still owe like $6000 to another account. WHAT? So I went back to work delivering Pizza for Dominos so I can make these payments again. I still don't believe them though In Feb I talked with Samantha as I wanted to know where all this money is going. and how it is distributed? They say it is all on the portal. I said no , What is on the client portal is the initial amount and that payments made. No detail No settled amount. Samantha made a new deal with me she said if after I make a February payment which was reduced to $150 and pay March and April for a reduced payment of $310 a month, I'll graduate the program and no more payment are to be made. I agreed... Come May... I get a notice that $465 to be debited out of my account. WHAT???? I called again and texted and e mailed. They ( Jose) said Oh yes you still have one more payment then you can "graduate" I said this is the 3rd time in I was told that. Oh but we can reduce your payment to $310. So how does that work What do I owe if anything. How much did you reduce the debt to? It isn't recorded any where, Well I can tell you over the phone... What happened to get it in writing? They won't do that. This company is all "he said she said". I take better notes, They make deals with you over the phone, But nothing in writing. Jose said if you don't make your payment your default on the creditor. I said what does that mean. That means you'll still owe them We will pay them what what already collected and the rest will be on you...? I dunno. So I said make me a statement in writing... In an e mail or something that states absolutely this is the last payment ever....and I'll hock some jewelry and make that last payment of $310 dollars, They are not transparent and will play you. They do not communicate well amongst themselves nor with clients. I recommend using a more accredited credit service if your in needs. Oh haven't heard from them at this point. No e mail no statement. Going to the bank now to stop payment until I get something in writing. The fee is 25% of the enrolled amount... Where does all that extra money go? At the first call we were well attended, even gave us a number to speak directly with the person who answered, if there was any question, the phone that every time I called was a different person. I'm so frustrated!!! I signed up years ago for them to settle 5 accounts over 3 years. Then 44 months later my payments were no longer withdrawn and I just learned I have to resign up for more payments if I want them to try and settle the last account. It cost me thousands of dollars, ruined my credit and now that I'm not in good standing with the creditor, I have to work it out with them on my own or pay more money to have Performance Settlement "try" again. I regret ever signing up with this company and wasting all the money they pocketed. Doing it on my own would have protected my credit, saved me a couple thousand dollars and maybe have been done faster!!! They negotiated a debt settlement for me with Prosper, that was then sold to Fresh View, that has now been sold to Resurgent. Resurgent is now contacting me with a balance for the full original debt . I have sent them all the correspondence and when speaking with them was told "don't worry their our friends we can work with them..." I am asking for written confirmation they have negotiated with Resurgent to the original settlement and the fact (I was quoted on the phone) that I have two more full payments (August being September's payment and September being October's payment) with the settlement satisfied by November. I was also sent a settlement letter for a Capital 1 account reduced by half to $731.+ and the list of payments and dates and wanted it taken off my list of accounts and they have refused to do that over the past 3 months of my contacting them... I'm being told the person who handled that account left the company. They are refusing to put in writing the answers to my questions and now are completely ignoring me. I just sent them a 2nd letter I received from Resurgent in yesterday's mail. Desired Outcome I would like 3 things confirmed in writing: 1. They have renegotiated the original settlement with Resurgent 2. My settlement will be fulfilled with 2 more payments (dollar amounts and dates) and the debt will be satisfied as of November 3. The Capital 1 account that was settled be taken off my list of accounts and marked as satisfied There customer service is the worst... I'm not sure where all these 1 star reviews are but my experience was good and I had excellent support from Amy McCord. This business is now located in Irvine from my records. Stopped paying creditors, PS quickly answered me emails and calls about the process which is a little unnerving. Eventually - about 1-2 years later got all my accounts settled, got a loan to consolidate, checked my credit report routinely on CreditKarma.com and now its above 700. This was made possible because of their help AND because I got a good job where I am able to pay my bills on time and avoid new credit card balances that affect my debt to credit ratio. I'm not satisfied. I went into the program with just under $30,000 of debt and this is what they closed everything out at (COMPLETED $28,779.00) copied from my web page with them. That doesn't look anywhere near 50% that they claim. And they totally screwed up one settlement to the point that the companies lawyers took me to court and I got very little back up from P.S. regarding it. And my contract was for 42 months - but now I have 2 more years to go of paying off a loan to complete all of my settlements! Don't waste your time with them! read more

After receiving my account review showing which accounts had been settled, I was sued from some of my creditors. I contacted performance settlement to discuss and they informed me that the accounts had not been settled! Each time I called, I always spoke with a different person who never gave me the same answer twice. They are very unprofessional and unorganized. I have asked several times for a complete list of what I paid and where my money went and I have yet to receive it. Performance helps settle debts yes. Their customer service and ability to explain things are poor. They did however settle my debts for about half. The explanations I was receiving on the phone the entire time was that they would charge me 25% of the settlement amount as fees for settling the debt. The fact of the matter is (and I found out after I graduated the program) they charge 25% of the original amount of your debt. So the reality is you will be paying at least 75% of your original debt in collection plus you will still have to worry about the tax consequences associated with the amount saved on the settlement. Where is the real saving? Discover card also sued me. Yes they helped me with an attorney. It was an $800 flat fee. Then at the end, I found out they charged me an additional $1100 because they claimed to be actively involved with the settlement with discover. I paid discover back on my own and had to come up with $8000 to do so. Over all I was very disappointed with the way Performance settlement kept adding fees at the end of my program with them. This company is a complete SCAM! The employees are incredibly rude and all they care about is making money. They claim to work with the government and dept of education, they work for neither. During my first conversation I spoke to Jimmy Knight who was very convincing and manipulative, oddly he up and quit 2 days later! The website he gave me was studentloans.gov, which is confusing because this site is actually legitimate. Though a big difference in the two is, the actual office of dept of education which helps in loan forgiveness does not charge a fee for their services, Performance SLC does. They will first contact you with a text or phone call stating their number and saying, "Call us today you may be eligible for loan forgiveness." Though it sounds promising, its anything but-don't fall for the scam! I made the mistake of doing so and now they have all my personal info-address, social, account info, you name it! They claimed to need my bank info so they could take automatic once a month payments, needed to "consolidate" my loan debt. Which is really completely different than loan forgiveness! After calling my loan company and doing some research I found out they are only a scam looking for money and personal info. Now I'm in the process of trying to get in touch with them and receive my refund because even after appealing continuance of their service, they over drafted my account anyways! Now each time I try to call I get hung up on and I haven't yet received any email replies! I have to take the time to do all the steps necessary to avoid identity theft and fraud for the rest of my life! Do not work with this fraudulent company-Performance SLC/Performance Settlement. If you are already making payments to this company stop immediately! None of the payments you are making goes towards paying back your loans at a lower amount, it all goes to this company!
