The Ariella Approach - Leading Workshop

    The Ariella Approach

Ariella came into my life at just the right time…read more I went from being a "person who plays music" to a musician; and a "person who sings" to a singer. I. Am. A. Singer. I have learned, in my travels of becoming a musician - and I'm on a never-ending road - that confidence is of the utmost importance. I might argue the single most. From the girl who would have been to embarrassed to sing anything more than quietly at the campfire, today I have no qualms about being the soloist. Ariella is a part of that growth. Ariella is a fabulous cheerleader, a free spirit, a beautiful soul, who helped coach me to confidence.

My work with Ariella was a process of coming into my body and voice while being gently held and guided. It catalyzed a year-long process of coming more authentically into myself than ever before, and it all started through the seemingly small practices of vocal warm ups, call and response, or just making noises with my mouth.  Ariella talks about one of her roles as a coach and guide being to offer unconditional love, and I agree. To listen closely enough to one's body to hear the sounds or movements that want to be expressed and to say YES to them--in spite of whatever fear or shame or other barrier exists there--is an act of unconditional love of the self. To be witnessed and held in that process equally will forever change you. Ariella's approach is gentle and intuitive, yet powerful. I loved that she let the wild nature of the body and voice lead the way.  People love tangible outcomes, so here's what changed for me concretely: I joined a choir and sang in a public performance (this was right before the pandemic or else I'd still be singing in choirs), I feel soooo much more comfortable singing publicly, I began creating weekly videos for my coaching business that I posted publicly and actually enjoyed making them, and I began writing and performing stand up comedy publicly.

I've never had any kind of musical training before--though I've always been a huge music fan--and I used to think I missed my chance by not starting as a kid. Louise has completely changed that mindset for me and shown me that it's truly never too late. I enjoy every single lesson. She has helped me learn how to actually use my voice, and I've noticed such a difference over time. I love the warm-ups--sometimes my voice feels weak when we start, but after a few exercises I feel strong, comfortable, and ready to sing. No matter what song or genre I choose, she can play it beautifully on the piano and guide me toward the right tone and technique. She has an incredible ear for music and is clearly so talented. I was nervous starting out, but Louise immediately made me feel at ease. It's a complete no-judgment zone. She's incredibly understanding--whether my body feels tired or my throat feels off, she always has thoughtful, helpful advice. She's also very accommodating when I've needed to change appointments, which I really appreciate. What I love most is how fun the lessons are. It truly feels like meeting with a friend. I leave every session feeling confident, energized, and in a great mood for the rest of the day. I'm genuinely excited to see where this journey takes me. I would recommend Louise to anyone, at any age or experience level. Working with her has been such a positive and rewarding experience.

The team setting up was super friendly and we felt like we'd been there many times before-even though it was our first time. Very comfortable and relaxed which really helped with performance. Our engineer, Josh was so efficient and good at what he did, it was really neat to watch him work and care so much about the quality of our project. We were given a tour of another studio they have for live performances and hope to record in there as well. We got great tracks and great memories. We are planning on booking again to do some overdubs and vocals! Highly recommend.

The problem was that when they returned my call for what was to be a small transfer session, it was 2-3 weeks after their system had crashed and the music files were lost. My intuition was right to call them. For the record, I requested half back since I had waited to do the backup. Friendly reminder: MAKE SURE YOU GET A BACK-UP OF EVERY SESSION. Briel 10/24/15 Positive Update on Colorado Sound Many years later, we were able to go back into the studio here and get a much better product than the first sessions. Colorado Sound took the time to open up their doors so we could finish up the tracks. We were able to record a great Chorus in their A Room, which is a must for any pro musical project. The sound engineer, Jesse, was able to bring in a high-quality level of skill to this sessions. Great production work on the drum beats that filled in the rest of the Halloween song, "Creepin In" He also made changes to the audio I did not ask for, in a negative direction, which I noticed during playback. Also, the owner never checked in with me again so he only fixed the error to get me to change my review. I don't feel good in the end, just moderate.
