Even the oldest students performing (high school aged) had to start dances over as they had no clue what they were supposed to be doing. The choreography mainly consisted of off beat skipping across the stage, and nothing else. The cost is ridiculous for the lack of quality, I paid twice what our old school charged for less than half the quality. Neither of my daughter's instructors were present for the dress rehearsal or recital. Although considering the time the teachers spent playing on their cell phones during class, this should come as no surprise. But the end of the line, was the lack of supervision backstage. There were countless ADULTS (both men and women) in and out of the dressing room throughout the performance, and none of the teachers even seemed to notice. My daughter was not onstage for the finale of the show, causing me to panic and hurry to the dressing room, where I found here sobbing because one of the other students told her she wasn't allowed to participate in the finale. Not only did none of the teachers or backstage chaperones step in to correct the other child, they didn't even notice that my daughter was missing from the stage! I promptly found the owner to discuss, and she wasn't even aware of the situation. As a mother, my utmost concern is my daughter's safety and well being, and I feel that this school doesn't consider the safety of their students at all. I wouldn't recommend this school to someone I disliked, let alone anyone i knew and cared for. Save your money and go to any other school, I guarantee they'll keep better track of your child than Expressions.

Most were younger adults (where I'm almost 50). Everyone was nice and the instructor choreographed a beautiful routine. I just wish I was in better "dance shape" to have kept up. I mistook "open" for beginner and I would not say it was a beginner class. You need to know basic terminology of dance to keep up at all. If they ever offer a beginner class I'd be apt to come back.

The dancers were super professional, dressed elegantly, and really breathed life into the song that the orchestra (hired from a separate company) played. I paid a flat rate per dancer, which included the performance and 50 minutes of rehearsal time before the proposal to give the dancers a chance to rehearse with the orchestra since they had not worked together before; Urbanity Dance was worth every penny and then some! The final performance was exactly what I had envisioned, and I especially appreciated that the dancer who performed last (Joy) finished her solo with a "lyrical invitation" for my partner and I to follow her to the predetermined proposal spot - this aligned perfectly with the music as it was fading out, and allowed for perfect photography/videography coverage - plus the two of us were in such a daze as everything was happening that we definitely needed the clear guidance Joy provided. The seating is setup like a dinner theater the front half has tables and seats, these are the most expensive at $20.00-$25.00 and the back half are regular seats which are $18.00. The venue as a whole is very beautiful and much larger than one would assume by looking at the exterior. There is also a room in which you can purchase beverages and snacks for cheap. The theater itself is beautiful with its high ceiling and chandelier you can tell it is an older building which adds to the beauty. The only downside is it was a little bit drafty so bring a sweater or jacket. The stage was the right height so everyone even the people sitting in the back could see the stage well. The actors were great and so were the musicians and the set was very well thought out and worked well with its limited settings. After the show I felt bad for not coming to see a show sooner!
