After having a very good mechanic friend move away, we entered one of our greatest fears. Finding a Mechanic we could trust. I made various phone calls, read numerous reviews and spoke to other friends and could not decide on a mechanic. We'll unfortunately, THAT day arrived. After deciding to buy The Ultimate Driving Machine (BMW) for its great track record, I think we finally hit the expiration date. Right after the extended warranty expired, our vehicle broke down. Fortunately, we were a block away from Performance Auto when it happen. We now had a dilemma...we were at the mercy of a mechanic, with little options. Fast forward a week, after multiple repairs, the car was as good as new. Throughout the whole process, Carl & Kye kept us informed, at ease and offered multiple options in our repairs. Though our final price was high, it was a result of the parts and work that was done. Carl's prices were fair and competitive. NO WAY did we feel CHEATED. 2 months later, once again about 3 blocks away, our car started acting up. The electrical system started flashing, suddenly we smelled "burnt, rotten eggs" (BLECH!) and smoke started filling the passenger compartment. By some chance, the car once again crawled to Performance Automotive. With a Fire Extinguisher in hand, Mike and Carl braved what awaited them. They opened the trunk and found that our battery had "exploded". Steam, smoke and battery acid everywhere. Mike immediately disconnected the battery. Here we were in dire straights again. 3 days before payday, a mortgage just paid and our daughter's birthday party in 4 days. We didn't need this. We braced for the worse. Once again, Carl and Mike kept us well informed, offered several options and quoted a fair price. Luckily, the damage was minimal. I STRONGLY recommend Performance Auto! Carl is our new GO TO GUY! I will be bringing The Ultimate Driving Machine ($$ Pit) back for regular maintenance as well as my VERY reliable Nissan Titan. TL;DR: Great service, fair prices and GREAT GUYS!! read more

I met Mr. Louis who was very mannerable, Mr. Steven, who I made the appointment with & Mr. Noah who gave me the repair estimate. The shop was nice, clean and the air conditioning was great! I went one time before this most recent visit and the did a good job however this recent visit they seriously over charged me. I got charged almost $900 for a thermostat change, a crack shaft sensor change and some hose clamps replaced. I told them not to replace the sensor but when I got there they charged me for it. I went to them for a check engine light and some minor repairs. They kept my car for weeks and kept finding things to replace that had nothing to do with the check engine light codes. When I asked for my car back to go to another mechanic they refused to let me pay my bill with my debit card and would not release my car. When I called the police the owner then told me he would only give me my car back if I went to the bank and paid cash. My bill was $4,111! Who walks around with $4k in their pocket? There was no written policy to pay in cash and there was a credit machine to pay with debit but to be difficult and racist he would not take my debit card payment. This business is unprofessional and unethical. No one should ever be treated the way I was today! They also left oil stains all over my car! read more

Dropped my old truck. Just needing some tuning had some sputter when i accelerated. The owner of this place guaranteed he would have a diagnostic done before the end of the day. 6 days later he had yet to open the hood so i told him i would be by to just take my truck elsewhere. I showed up 30 mins later. Hood open and a battery charger going. This guy got so defensive when i refused to pay his $75 diagnostic fee. Couldn't tell me a thing about it. He claims i dropped it off by tow truck. He was just all around lost. He locked the door and said i couldn't leave without leaving. When i threatened to call the cops he came around the counter to try and shove me out. I threw 40 bucks on the counter snatched my keys and drove off. Battery charger wasn't even hooked up. Overall terrible experience. Sucks i was really excited on the initial visit. read more

The last couple of weeks have been trying - 3 of us had Covid and then my son's car needed some work and I had to lend him mine. Performance Auto was recommended and we don't regret the choice at all. It took longer than we would have preferred but that's a car for you! Went for an oil change as I was planning on doing it myself the first time, but my drain plug was pretty stripped from going to those drive thru oil changes. So I bought a new one and they changed my oil for me and new drain plug all before they closed. Really helpful guys. Will definitely come back. read more

Carl, business owner, quoted me $250 for AC warranty repairs and gave me a bill for $905. That's a difference of $655. When I questioned the excessive added amount, I was told that was the bill. If you want your car today, I would have to pay the total amount. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The place is dishonest and a poor example of good customer service. Oh! one more thing. Had a blown spark plug and I was afraid it was going to be a repair involving a partial engine tear down. They were able to tap the plug well and install a sleeve similar to a Time-Sert. The car was ready the same day and for a fair price. Absolutely great customer service so if you have a vehicle repair issue I would definitely let the people at Performance Automotive & Transmission help you out. read more

I normally don't like to go too negative on these things, but this place has been THE most frustrating experience we've had with a shared Ford SUV. We brought the car in to get the shift checked...fast forward to FOUR visits later the "new" shift is still loose and the car won't start! A professional mechanic knows their limits and will send you elsewhere. They did not. Do NOT get transmission or major work done here. And check the Google reviews they paint a more honest picture. I will say they were friendly, and tried. But again, my poor sister is going to have to pay someone else on top of paying them to get the car fixed again. read more

I agree with Allan D. frustrating place . My wife took her car their and we still have the oil stain on our driveway from the three times they tried to fix it. I believe they charge for service that is not need or done . I say this because my wife liked taking her car there because it was convenient for her and she always had to take it back more than once charged her for ac service and suspension work that we took to another automotive repair shop to fix ... can not recommend this place wasted a lot of money there read more

Beware of this place they busted my ac condenser then tried charging me for there mistake then they finally said they'll fix and refill it if I bought the condenser which was $100 out of my pocket then after dropping it off they call me and say they don't carry my r1234 Freon or the tip it needs to be filled so I'd be out of pocket for the recharge which can be several hundred so plz beware of this place read more

I tried Performance even though they only had 2 reviews. My experience with them ended up being absolutely perfect. They quickly assessed the issue with my vehicle, shopped for the best priced parts, and expedited my repairs to accommodate my schedule. The total was half the cost I was quoted at another company. Frustrating place. Slow and expensive; a 70 dollar diagnostics fee that is more than likely inaccurate, not to mention you have to set up an appointment and wait 3 business days or more to see what's wrong. Would rather go to El Gato on Marbach. read more

They did a great job had some issues getting parts but it all came together in a timely fashion and my car runs perfectly.

Used to be a excellent place. They would keep your vehicle for almost a week, but fix everything right. Last few times I went in they kept it for a week. got my vehicle back and found parts were not reinstalled and missing. Interior was damaged. Things that were working when it went in were not working now. Kept taking it back, a total of three time, they held it for another week. Got charged more. And the problem still exist. If you have to bring your vehicle back it should be made a priority, not be put at the back of the list and make you be without a vehicle for another week. Especially on the third time you bring it back for the same problem that wasn't repaired properly. Finally had to take it to the dealer to have it properly fixed, At about half the cost they charged me and they held it for only two days. read more

Finally!, a mechanic we trust. Came in at 1130 and was unaware that oil changes don't take place between 1100 and 1300, but they did it anyway. I asked if they could top off fluids and add air in the tires. I thought it would cost extra but they said the oil change comes with full fluids check and top off and tire checks! while they did an excellent job on my brakes. I find it funny that two light bulbs that have always worked were removed. and not replaced. my trunk bulb that cost $6.00 to replace, and my map light which also cost $6.00 too replace. While I am thankful that they fixed the brakes. I just find it funny !? read more
