This is my first time visiting and I WILL NOT GO BACK. I was greeted nicely by the girl at the front, however, the table where I was sat had dirty towel with stains on them. I was helped by an Asian lady with long false lashes who was the rudest nail technician I've ever encountered in my life. Throughout the process, she had no smile on her face, did not bother talking to me or asking me how I'd like my nails done, rushing through everything with no patience. When I told her that one of my fingers that was previously done was lifted, she annoyedly said "oh that's on you and whoever did it previously!!". As if she was not willing to have it fixed. Every other nail technicians in the store was nice, kind, and caring where mine definitely treated me differently. Now I'm left with weirdly shaped nails and an awful experience. Got a full set of gel done last week and the polish is already lifting. The lady who did my nails was nice, but didn't listen to what I was saying. I wanted a french ombre with pink, gold, and white marble on the ring fingers. I tell her specifically to have white as the base for the marble, but she just makes them all french ombre instead before putting a lighter pink and gold on my ring finger nails (you can barely tell it marbled). Speaking of the ombre, it was executed poorly. Every nail is either streaky or not blended enough. The pink polish wasn't applied properly, so you can see the half moons on my nails. The nail shape looks alright from far away, but you can tell that they are lumpy and uneven as you get closer. Also my cuticles weren't prepped and my nails weren't cut. Paid $75. Might as well go somewhere that's actually worth it, like MBL Artistry lol. read more

This is the first salon I've ever went to so I wasn't sure what to expect. Some of the staff were super nice and they tried to make conversation with all their customers. I thought my nail technician in my opinion was a little rough with my nails, and she didn't really talk to me that much except to give me instructions (the atmosphere was kinda awkward for me). My nails turned out to be how I would like it to be and the entire set was $50 in total. I would go back for sure but preferably not have the same nail technician again (you can request your nail technician when you call). From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left, everyone who worked in the salon was extremely kind. When I asked about a colour option, they were very nice as to telling me what the colour was. Kitty did my nails and she did a fantastic job. I showed her a picture of the shape I wanted and she asked me if the length and everything was alright. Not to mention, they used a NEW file bit on the electric file, which I appreciate greatly because not many salons do that. My nails look exactly how I wanted them to look and I would definitely be coming back in the future. Highly highly recommend you to come to this salon if in Richmond. I'm a huge fan of Perfecty Polished. I have frequented many a nail salon in Richmond, but found they always came up short somewhere: cleanliness, service - there was always something that made me feel slightly icky about my experience. Hailey is fantastic. She always fits me in when I need an appointment, is flexible about changing my appointment when my crazy work schedule requires it, and has great about getting me in for emergency fixes ASAP. Last week I lost a nail and Hailey fit me on an hour's notice and didn't charge me for the repair. The technicians do vary in terms of their customer service. However, when I've made a comment about that to Hailey, she's always, always addressed it. One technician was consistently 30 minutes late for my Sunday morning appointments. Mentioned it to Hailey in passing? Never happened again. For me the key thing about a great business is that it fixes mistakes. No one is perfect. But being able to take feedback and ensure that things don't happen that way again, means a lot to me. To respond to some of the comments about not getting the "super sweet" treatment: I wouldn't say I'm the "target demographic" you mentioned either, but I find consistently visiting this business and being kind myself, has meant that I'm treated with kindness in return. read more

I'll admit I was a bit intimidated to come into this place after reading the reviews, but I'm glad it didn't stop me from trying them out. I just came back from getting a gel manicure from Amber, and it's probably the best manicure I've ever received. I came in on a Saturday around 2pm, and it was pretty busy. There were a few people waiting to be seen, but I only had to wait about 15 minutes without an appointment. They have plenty of seating at the front and have coffee and beverages for anyone waiting. They offer a good variety of gel polish brands and in more colors than most salons would offer. Amber was great. She listened to my needs, fixed the terrible mess from my prior manicure, and was really gentle. She engaged in conversation the whole time, always made sure I was comfortable, and kept me updated the entire way through. Overall, the manicure looks amazing. There is not one bubble, it is perfectly coated, shaped, and cleaned. I honestly can't remember the last time I ever received such a thorough manicure where they actually took the time to make it look exactly as you would expect. Really happy about my experience here and will definitely see Amber again for my next appointment. :) read more

Considering how decent the reviews were online, I was very disappointed with their service. I was not greeted when I walked in and the look on this one lady's face was as if she wanted me to say hi to her. It did not get any better after that. The lady that helped me with my nails was also rude. She started filing my shellac away and it has been mistaken for gel before. I nicely told her that it's shellac and not gel and she told she knew in a snappy tone. After that while I was explaining to her what I want and she told me to let her do her job and said I should go watch tv instead. On top of that she rushed through everything and even cut my finger. Nails were done beautifully by a Caucasian girl but the atmosphere was horrible. I walked into my appointment and was not greeted by the people. The Asian lady with the long false eyelashes was very rude. When she was filing my nails she grabbed my hands very tightly and rushed through all the filings. When she was cutting my nails she shouted "how long?" While grabbing my hands and started to cut away. She never spoke a word or gave a smile. She constantly looked very mad and looked as if she was judging me. As the Caucasian girl did my nails she was very sweet and we had a very nice conversation. I looked over to the Asian lady's table and she was talking to her client and was constantly smiling and whispering. As I was about to pay, I had my credit card ready to go and she just grabbed my card and put it into the machine. She never said a single thank you nor did she even bother to give eye contact. I have had 3 pedicures by Jen and she did a good job each time. The salon is very clean, comfortable, bright and reasonably priced. I had hoped to make Perfectly Polished my long-term pedicure haven. However, I will not be returning. During my 3 visits, not once did I feel welcomed by the owner. I do not expect a hug, a compliment, nor a trophy just for showing up - but a smile and a hello would go a long way. Perhaps if I was one of her personal clients I would have received the basic courtesies. I love to support local business, I have respect for anyone who works hard to make it on their own - it is not easy nor is it for everyone. But, making all of your customers feel like they matter to you .......that is what counts. I know that my every 3 to 4 week pedicure $pend will not be missed by the owner, but as a paying customer, I choose to spend my discretionary income where I feel appreciated and not simply as a person with a wallet. read more

I have been going to Perfectly Polished for about 5 months and was very happy with my manicures. Just to make it clear that isn't the reason I will never go back there. Recently my daughter was getting her nails done there and was told by her nail technician that the salon owner would be doing my nails instead of my regular technician. That my technician didn't want to do my nails anymore. My daughter was appalled to hear this. My daughter phoned me as soon as she left the salon and was very upset. I asked my daughter to text her technician so she could let the salon owner know that I was upset and wanted an explanation. I heard nothing. It was a holiday the following day so I thought well maybe the owner would call me before opening on the next business day. I didn't hear from her. So I made my way down to the salon. I spoke to the owner and asked her "what happened"? The owner told me that my nail technician felt uncomfortable doing my nails. I said "why?" The owner just shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know". I said that I deserve an explanation. I got no response from the owner. I was in disbelief! I really wanted to know what happened. Did she think that this wouldn't bother me? That I would just get my nails done by the owner and leave it at that? I felt awful about something I didn't understand. If I had upset my technician in any way I would want to fix it. I also said to the owner that she should have contacted me with this information and not my daughter. I told her how unprofessional it was of her. She didn't handle this situation very well at all. Perfectly Polished lost 3 loyal customers all in one day. (Myself and my two daughters) To be honest I always felt uncomfortable going in there. The atmosphere was really terrible, but I thought since my daughters go there I would turn a blind eye. I am so flabbergasted as to what happened but more importantly how the situation was handled. I hope that by writing this review, the women running this business will brush up on their people skills and learn some professionalism. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely not! read more

I booked an appointment to get my nails done 3 weeks prior and told the receptionist that I wanted ombre nails since my wedding is coming up. She told me that it would take about 2 hours and I said that was fine. Today I went for my appointment and they told me they couldn't do the ombre nails because it would take at least 2 hours. I told them that when I booked, i specifically said I wanted ombre nails. The lady kept saying she couldn't do it. I was pretty upset because my wedding in 2 days and I can't book a last minute appointment anywhere else. So she said she can make a french mani but she would have to skip the massaging part for my pedi. In the end, my nails look fine but it's not at all what I envisioned for my big day. Dissapointed. I came in to get my acrylics taken off and the lady did not properly file off the excess glue after taking off the fake nail. I was forced to go home and file off the rest of the glue myself. It's not like the salon was even busy. Awesome pedicures! However, I would NOT recommend getting a new set of gel nails here if you're starting from your natural nail. It's clearly a "time is money" attitude, or as my friend calls it ... "McNails". My "nail tech" did not even bother to do a rudimentary manicure and ended up applying the gel overtop my cuticles, which resulted in almost all of the gel lifting at the cuticle within a couple of days. She also chose to use cheap plastic tips instead of properly "building" the nail with the gel, she told me it was to save time. As a result I have incredibly ugly concave nails that are twice as thick at the tip than they should be. I also have ragged ridges on the underside of the nail, because she hacked my natural nail off, then glued the tips on without even filing the natural nail smooth. I hope they spent my "donation" to their business well, as it will be the last they get from me. read more

There is coffee/tea/purified water and we were even treated to Krispy Kreme donuts! Such a special treat. I asked her on 4-5 different occasions to shorten them and she kept saying "Don't worry, I'll do that later" .. that never happened. She kept them long and NOT what I wanted one bit even though I kept repeating and CONVENIENTLY put on the final gel before making them the length I liked. I definitely also did not get the warm super sweet treatment I saw her give to the blonde 40+ year old clients she was trying to butter up with compliments. In fact, she actually looked me up and down and looked unimpressed, and I felt so judged (sure, maybe I was dressed very casually, and was sporting a diaper bag instead of a purse, but I am a new mom and I'm not about to dress up to go for a pedi!). The pedicure definitely felt rushed and there was no conversation and no warmth/smiles. I felt so deflated, especially since having a baby I look forward to my precious pedicure time more than ever. The lady who did my pedicure could not seem less interested if she tried moreover, she did an utterly repulsive job. Also, she rushed the job and for the most part, made me feel uncomfortable, as if I was burdening her somehow. I am a full time grad school student, work full time, and volunteer-so treating myself is a BIG deal. Thank you to the worker and owner of this establishment who shamefully ate my money, thus making my once a month indulgence seem like an utter waste. The owner was said to have been warm and friendly however, I was not on the receiving end of this genuine kindness. The interest only seemed to lie in catering to the regular "blonde haired, blue-eyed soccer mom" types.
