Lisa has designed a program that every instructor follows--which is great for kids since they know what's coming next. Our current instructor is Nina and she is all kinds of wonderful. My toddler was having a very hard time with being in the water without her mom. Nina was kind, very loving and patient with a screaming child. We're 4 lessons in and now my younger daughter happily walks to her teacher. Nina adjusted her lesson to accommodate my children's needs. The pool also has a 9-foot deep end and a few lap lanes. One downside is there's very little shade around the pool area. Inside, there are free weights and cardio areas, basketball courts, TRX setup, and several group fitness rooms offering classes like yoga, pilates, Zumba, pickleball, and other fitness programs. The instructors and staff have always been very friendly and welcoming. The men's and women's locker rooms also include a steam sauna and hot tub, which are nice amenities. However, the steam saunas are frequently closed or broken for maintenance, so I'd recommend calling ahead to confirm what's currently working before visiting. Another downside is that the lockers require you to bring your own lock--they do not have built-in combination locks like many newer gyms. They offer memberships for different age groups, and another huge plus is the free covered parking garage. However, during weekday evenings (around 6 p.m.), the garage can get pretty full due to after-work crowds and youth programs. I've been a YMCA member for several years and would definitely recommend this location.

In reality, you just need to pay attention to whether or not your kid and their teacher are a good match. My son was with one teacher for almost year with very slow progress and no float test pass. I think it was due to the combo of teacher being more cautious type and my son being more scared type. He was a 4 almost 5 year old in a class with 3 years olds. Anyway, it was my fault for not paying more attention and switching him to another class sooner. He is did great with his new teacher and passed his float test (finally). We had to switch him again recently due to scheduling conflicts and I will be more attentive to his progress from now on.

Two of my son's swim teachers we got to know and love (Emily & Juquan) were incredible and I think really set the foundation for my son to try to connect the dots with swimming. While I think this is an excellent opportunity for brand new swimmers, I'm a tiny bit hesitant to recommend long term because it just took so long for my son to get where he's at today. We don't have a personal pool, only a community pool that's open during the summer. So maybe that's on me? Great staff, clean facilities, reasonable pricing for what you get but the learning model needs to revisited to get swimmers swimming faster.

I told her she was breaking the federal law then she offered me a spot way in the back by myself so no one would complain. I immediately asked for a refund as that was discriminatory. I cannot believe I was treated this way trying to learn a new hobby. But now reading the other reviews it seems I have dodged a bullet by not taking this class.
