Despite the insanely overpriced books and largely unimpressive offerings, understanding the "maybe…read moretoday" nature of these places, I'll pop in once a month or so to try my luck. Without fail, the duo of whomever is on the schedule to work the desk/register is: preoccupied, disinterested, dismissive and almost comically rude. This is so incongruous with the majority of folks who work in these types places -- most are Olympian small talkers so happy to work among cool things with history and to encounter 'their people' walking through the doors. It's almost like they wanted to work at Celine or Balenciaga but didn't fit the aesthetic profile so brought their (apparently contagious) shi**y attitude and unhelpful countenance to Lincoln and Palms. So if you're looking for those gigantic MCM lamps in seriously ugly colors, laughably 'naive' art and the aforementioned ridiculously expensive basic book fare, heading over to The Mart Collective where they'll surely make you feel unwelcome.

You can easily spend a couple hours in here. Victorian china and silverware? Check. Scandinavian ceramics? Check. Southeast Asian statues? Check. This is a place where it really pays to look carefully. There jewelry collection is pretty substantial and has a wide variety of pieces. I had one find that blew me away: an Ancient Roman bronze belt buckle that had been turned into a pendant. Circa 100 CE. Pretty sure it was the oldest thing in the building, but I can't be absolutely sure. The employees were delightful to talk to and were very helpful on getting prices and showing me things in display cases. I got into a long conversation with an art historian over the aforementioned belt buckle. Prices range. I bought a pair of beautiful pillows for under 35 dollars. But there are some pieces here that are either so rare, unusual or simply intrinsically valuable that they are going to be an investment. This is by no means a thrift-store. Will definitely return.

Lots of knick knacks and many can be categorized as vintage (like the vinyl records that most people born after the year 2000 might not know that these exist) Affordability is questionable but it depends on what you're looking for. It's not priced like the 99 cent store, which no longer exist, of course. Great find either way. I love browsing. Street parking available & there's a public parking structure next block over. Staff are friendly

Don't let bad reviews scare you away from this quaint little shop in Venice…read more I stumbled upon the store while walking around Venice looking for holiday gifts for family. This was a rare case where my wife and I bought products and then went to yelp afterwards to read a review on how helpful and knowledgeable the staff was, but I read several reviews talking about how rude the customer service was. I couldn't have had a more opposite experience. All of the inventory they hold is so unique and I haven't seen it anywhere else. I had several questions about the glass and drinkware, and we ended up buying a whole wine glass set made from reclaimed glass (how cool?!). Prices on some items are pretty high, but there are great fines for affordable prices within the store. The staff was super helpful, and I met the French owner who checked us out, and she was very lovely. We are going to go back for stocking stuffers!
