When you enter the first thing you notice is the smell. It about knocks you over. The smell of dogs is so strong. I know it's a vet, but I nearly had to go outside to breathe. Once you get over that initial shock you will notice the office is not modern. It is not state of the art. It is an old style veterinary. Reminds me of circa 1970's-1980's. They do take credit/bank card. The vet I saw was an old man. He was very sweet and seemed to truly love animals. He was very kind to our animals and took time with them. My dogs weren't even nervous like they normally are....surprising considering the smells I'm sure they were taking in. He stood and talked to me for quite awhile and told me a lot about his past. He had worked with the Indiana State Fair and area County fairs for years. So he not only spent time in his office, but he was out there with the people and their pets. Really made me think higher of him. His assistant/secretary was super nice and answered all my questions. Even though it didn't look like much they were thorough and followed through on all they were supposed to do to get us 4H ready again. As for the price.....much money was saved even with having to drive there. They are so much cheaper. All in all it ended up being a good experience even if it was stinky. :)

I found "Tortilla" through a 3rd party online source. I contacted Posh Puppies directly. We had…read moreseveral Zoom meetings to meet my puppy and tour their facility. Wow. What a great family! Every single question I had was answered promptly. I was concerned if Tortilla's (I renamed her Penny) energy would match my other tiny puppy. The videos I got were a little concerning to me because she seemed shy. Then they sent me more videos of crazy Penny zooming around and playing! I drove 6 hours and got to see their really cool property and vet clinic. They had Penny walking around and sniffing things, sent me home with a "starter pack" and, because she was so small, some high calorie gel to give her "on the ride back" because shes so small and active. They gave me her blanket (still have!) and her favorite toy (also still have....though she took the filling out a couple years ago). 3 years later, Penny is now doing dog therapy for people with anxiety and depression. She has led "Puppyflow" yoga classes. She's amazing. Knowing what I know now, I'd have paid double. Her name at the breeder was "Tortilla". She gets along with my 13yo belgian malinois...now that he's old she tires HIM out. She gets along with my ACTUAL posh Puppy, a 3yo shih tzu named Heidi, who prefers comfort and luxury. They sleep in a pile at night. I can't recommend these folks enough. Support every step of the way and now over 3 years out, Penny has already changed lives for the better. I understand not all puppies are predictable and sometimes they come with health concerns. I am so fortunate to have found Posh Puppies and their thoughtful and caring owners. Black Pine is an overlooked attraction in the northeast Indiana area. The Fort Wayne zoo gets the…read morepublicity. However, Black Pine has a different purpose, process and attraction. Black Pine is located in Albion - near Kendalville and the Chain O Lakes areas. Their purpose is to rescue distressed wild life, bring them back to health and give the animals a place to live out their days. The animal's habitats tries closely replicate their original habitat...well...as much as their private funding and Indiana landscape will allow. The caged settings do their best to get you close to the animals without stressing the animal out - which is a major part of their focus. Most all these animals were rescued from some sort of poor conditions. Those situations tend to be private citizens, in the US, that abused the animals and were forced to turn over the animals. Many had to be nursed back to health. We participated in the $20 3-5p Saturday private feeding tour. The group had about 30 people. The two tour guides were excellent. They shared stories about each animal, how it got there, the health issues and rehab process. They gave us info to let you know what these animals need to thrive. Also covered were the extinction status of the animals, the current legislation issues and the geo economic-political environment that shapes these animals lives. Black Pine feed the animals to try and draw them out of their shelters. They don't force them out perhaps like a zoo. Most all the animals came out and made an appearance. Only a few of them could be observed eating. The warning for small children was probably over played as there wasn't hardly any sensitive feeding situations. The tour is a lot of walking with almost no places to sit and rest. Be prepared with water. You will find the animals to be accessible and amazing. Many came out so they could easily be seen. The tigers have to be the main attraction as they are incredible creatures.

Black Pine Animal Sanctuary might be one of Indiana's best kept secrets. Located about 40 minutes…read morenorth west of Fort Wayne, the sanctuary is home to many different species who come to them from captivity. Here, they are provided a home for the rest of their lives and people can visit to learn about responsible care and conservation. I took the basic tour, which lasts nearly two hours. Our guide, Lowell, was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a lot of background on the animals. I was surprised to find that four of their tigers were rescued from the Tiger King's facility and now live there. This is a great place and I highly encourage people to visit and help the sanctuary by donations as that's the only way they can operate outside of grant funding.

We are from the Jersey area and found Bruiser after months of research. I am very picky where my pup comes from having had bulldogs for the past 30 years. Mitch was able to answer all my questions and I was impressed by health standards. Absolutely one of the most knowledgable bulldog breeders I have come across. Most of the breeders I talked to knew less about bulldogs than I do! The process was easy but extremely detailed. Opal is the sweetest girl. She was delivered to me in Laurel, Maryland on Friday, April 19th. She's…read moremade my apartment a home. There hasn't been a dull moment since she arrived. Opal is super friendly and loves being the center of attention. On our twice daily walks, she always seeks out her favorites: Adrian (the lifeguard from Colombia, South America who just graduated college with a degree in engineering), Cynthia (the concierge who works this second job to support her daughter through college) and Roy (the friendliest and best neighbor). I've lived in my community since June 22, 2022. Because of Opal, I get out to daily walk by the pool, bbq grills, our mini dog park and all parts of our community and have met the most amazing people. Opal is an extrovert to my introvert. Everyone loves her and thinks she's adorable. She's also very smart. Whether at the dog park, restaurant, dog trainer or veterinarian, all love Opal and she demands their attention as she runs to them and stands up their leg for petting or gallops, hops and chases them (dogs too) on our walks. Opal has even Facetimed with Adrian the lifeguard's mother who is in Colombia, South America. She said that Opal is a beautiful dog. Working with Fernweh Schnauzers was really good. They promised a well socialized puppy and I got my Opal. Everything was easy from deposit to delivery. And once Opal is soon spayed and her hernia fixed, they've promised to reimburse me for the hernia surgery without me even asking. They told me about the surgery before she arrived on 4/19/2024. If you want to adopt an adorable miniature schnauzer, I only recommend that you adopt from this family and you'll fall in love like I have with Opal. All love Opal. I love her most.
