We came here on a recommendation early February. When we came, we spoke to the owner (Braulio Peralta) and asked him if he could make us a food cart. We brought a picture of a cart we wanted. We explained to him that the company who makes the cart isn't taking any new orders as they are behind over 6 months. Braulio, told us he can do it. He said, he's done food counters for Cannery Row food establishments before therefore knows the rules of needing to use food grade materials. We explained to him that that is the most important thing for us because that is the only way the health department would approve a permit - any material touching food needed to be NSF approved. He said no problem. He then told us that for him to copy the cart from the picture and specs we brought in, it would cost us between $7-$9k. We agreed and asked him to proceed. He also told us the cart would be ready by March 1st. At the initial meeting, we brought in pictures and gave him the specs. We have him the link to the website of the cart we wished duplicated and sent him many pictures from every angle of this cart we needed built. The next day, we brought a trailer for him to build the cart on and he said he didn't want to use that cart and he would prefer to build the cart but it would cost us another $1k. We agreed so he can get started on it. We came to the shop to document the process of building so that we may post it on our social media page as well as keep our donors (who contributed to a GoFund me) informed about the progress of getting a new cart built. After about a week, we came back to the shop and saw that he had built us a new trailer. A huge trailer and definitely much bigger than the specs we gave him. When asked why that size, he said, it's to make sure the cart remains stable. He continued on with the build and after a couple Of weeks, which is when he said it would be done, we came by the shop and saw that he had built the structure of the cart and again bigger than what the specs we gave him. We told him we couldn't have it that big and he used that as the reason as to why it wasn't done on time. He said because of the modification, everything got set back. Everytime we came to check on it, we saw something that wasn't part of the original plan. Everytime, he assured us that he knew what he was doing and that the way he's doing it is much better than the picture we showed him. What was supposed to take a couple of weeks to build, took over 2 months. In the end, we ended up with a cart that isn't even operational as a stand alone. The only way the griddle feature works is if we insert a piece of metal to lift it to give it proper ventilation. No lights were installed, the doors don't work properly. We didn't ask for him to use doors with locks, he did that on his own and then wanted to charge us for it. They don't close and open right, the burners do not stay on unless all the doors are left wide open which gets in the way of our operation because it wants to constantly swing open and shut. The iron frame trailer he built, is rusting daily because it was never primed and painted. The shelves are useless to us because everything that goes in it gets damaged when the burners are on because of the heat and there was no insulation installed between the stainless steel walls that surround the fire. We tried reaching out to him after we picked it up to let him know about those problems and he ignores our messages and emails. We're unable to operate due to the fact that the cart will not pass inspection due to those issues that should not be there with a properly made cart. Forget that they built as a cart that they wanted to build their way not the cart we wanted built, still, it does not work and we aren't able to operate it currently. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. I would also get a contract and something in writing about everything agreed because they have no integrity. read more

We were referred here to have an item unscrewed that required a specific size tool we could not locate. We arrived to an employee who very specifically told us that his boss had the tool and once he returned he would unscrew it. He said to leave our name, number, and the part and that it should come off pretty easy with the tool. We agreed and said if for some reason he doesn't have it or can't get it off quick and easy give us a call. A few hours goes by and we get a call from the boss (owner) who said he got the part open, he made a custom tool and it was $80 because it took him an hour. First he tries to sell the $80 as me purchasing the tool, which I didn't want or budget for as that's 3times the cost of a new part itself. Once I express this, he said 'well you wanted it open and it took me an hour' I explained again, we were told he had the tool, never implied to 'open it at any cost'. I said, you never called to explain you didn't have the tool or the expected cost, had you I'd have said no as it's not an economically sound option. He said fine, come and pick it up then no charge. And then proceeds to explain to me that a machine shop charges for everything (this isn't true as I've been to many machine shops and unless it's posted I've received no charge, and if it is true they always call for an estimate) and he tries to blame me for not checking a box for a quote that I was completely unaware of and never lead to by the helpful greeter when we clearly said 'call us if its not an easy open.' When I arrive, the greeter yelled for his boss to come out from the back of the shop. He did not come out to the greeter proceeds to get the part back for me off the boss' desk saying that it was open and it was pretty easy. He grabs the part and looked confused, he said 'oh this was open' (it was now sealed shut), MUCH tighter thank before (you can tell by the alignment of the holes). Then he starts to change his story and said 'oh you need to buy the part'. I interrupted him and said, 'wait so you opened this? was it hard?' A very nice and helpful guy he starts to explain to me but only gets out yes it was open. Then the boss (owner) comes around the corner and literally screams at the guy. "I TOLD YOU TO DO SOMETHING DIDN'T I." My issue with the boss aside, this is never a way to talk to an employee for starters but especially and employee who is helping a customer. As I had the part in hand and was told I could take it I left. The owner continued to fume at the employee and then once I walked away and got in my car I looked back and he was trying to gain more attention from me. This was either an attempt to make me feel bad and manipulate me into buying a part I never agreed to or this is how he treats his employees regularly - either highly unacceptable. As a laborer and owner of my own business myself I'd never treat a worker this way and I would never proceed to spend an unauthorized hour of time on any project I didn't get the approval from a client. This man doesn't know how to run a business or treat people. Speaking to me like a dumb child and to his employee as an untrained abused animal is completely unacceptable. read more

Best machine shop in town. Most definitely recommend . They did a fantastic job on my on my project truck welding up the frame

Several weeks ago I took an expensive German bathroom under sink faucet valve to this machine shop for disassembly to remove a part I needs for the new valve. After examination it was first determined to be too difficult to disassemble. when I went to pick up the valve the machinist offered to try again. The part I needed was removed saving me further delay and cost in dealing with the German shipper. (I already had 350.00 dollars in parts and shipping for one valve!) I had done this as a favor to a relative and these guys saved the day at reasonable cost. A lesson: Get your bathroom fixtures at Lowes or Home Depot....not Germany!
