I used to come to Mom's Kitchen & Bar pretty often when I lived in NYC, so coming back to New York…read moreand making this one of my stops was a must. Thankfully, the food was still really good! I got the buffalo mac & cheese balls, veggie burger and a passion fruit margarita with a coronita during happy hour. The margarita was GOOD lol and definitely did its job . The buffalo mac & cheese balls were probably my favorite, especially with the Sriracha ranch. My boyfriend loved them too and ended up getting the burger as well, but swapped the veggie patty for beef because he liked all the toppings and condiments. Our server was really friendly and service was good overall. My only complaint was cleanliness. The table we sat at was sticky and I noticed quite a few other tables that looked like they needed a more thorough wipe down. The restrooms could've been cleaner too. Still glad I came back though. The food definitely didn't disappoint!

I ended up with possibly the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had -- Taylor ham, scrambled eggs, pepper jelly and cheese on an everything bun. Absolutely delicious. The mimosa was embarrassingly large, but I gave it my best effort. And the coffee was exactly what breakfast coffee should be: good and strong. With about a million places to get breakfast in NYC, the best compliment I can give is that I would absolutely come back here again.

Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Not sure if I'll return, which saddens me, but also knowing that they're part of a conglomerate at Fireman Group (and still run independently in a sense) makes total sense

It is not the iconic Carnegie Deli, known for its huge corn beef and pastrami sandwiches. This place is known for its all day breakfast,, 24-layer Chocolate Cake, and massive milkshakes. Good food and drink menus and service. Our food came out quickly. Food was pricey, but it was well prepared, served in generous portions, and made with quality ingredients. Enjoyed by my daughter and granddaughter: Plain WAFFLE -- came with a fruit cup PANCAKES -- so fluffy and also came with a fruit cup Coffee I ordered the Pastami Egg Sandwich ($24.95) which was amazing! We got the chicken and pancakes along with the fish and chips. The fish just needed a bit of salt but was otherwise fine. The fries were fantastic. The pancakes and chicken were good too. The pancakes were soft and together with the chicken was great. This place is fairly large and quick with the orders.

I've been before, so I knew what to expect: dependable and comfortable, with nothing fancy. Nutella Pancakes The best thing at our table. They're fluffy, with sliced banana and berries, a chocolate drizzle, powdered sugar, and a cup of Nutella on the side for dipping. It's indulgent and well executed, and I'd order it again. Frittata Just okay. The eggs were cooked fine and the peppers and tomato gave it some color, but the flavor was flat. The home fries on the side were crisp-edged and did more for the plate than the frittata did. Wrap and Fries My friends' wrap came with fries, coleslaw, and a big pickle spear. It's standard diner fare, filling, and nothing to complain about. Verdict The food isn't spectacular, but it's reliable, the portions are generous, and the sweet dishes are the ones to get. It's a solid neighborhood diner for a casual meal with friends. Order the pancakes and skip the frittata.

Disappointed because I've been coming here for years now and the service has dropped dramatically…read more The restaurant was maybe 1/5th full, with about 7-8 tables. We got seated really quickly but our server didn't show up for a while. We waited for him to take our order for almost 10 mins after being seated. He didn't write anything down in our order: stuffed tomato (which is what I always get) chicken and rice soup, Caesar salad, and waffle fries. The food came out quickly but right away, I realized he gave me a stuffed avocado, not tomato. I didn't eat any further, waiting for him to come back but he never checked in on us until about another 10 mins later when we were very obviously looking for him and other servers grabbed him. At this point, we had to get going pretty quickly and we told him that my order was wrong but we needed to get going. He apologized but had a weird attitude, like it was my fault he put in the wrong order though I said tomato 3 times while ordering. We waited another 5-6 minutes to find him again to get the check. He never corrected the ticket, but he did bring a to go container with tomato slices, which is not the same. I think Westway had a good run for me, won't be coming back.
