Their starting quotes also seemed high. I called Capital Glass and Construction and Grant came out that same morning to measure and place the order, and his quote was lowest of all. He explained how the repair and clean up would be done. Grant came back a couple days later with replacement glass and finished the job and cleaned up in about an hour. I was impressed. However, as we discussed installation, he insisted that no ceiling brace would be needed when the weight-bearing wall was removed, and that " a couple of two by fours" was an acceptable alternative to the standard 4 by 10 inch header. When we insisted that both a temporary brace and header were essential, his bid increased by about 50%. Grant also told us that the only window manufacturer he used could NOT make a window with the coating we desired. He refused to even call and ask them, so we did, finding they were more than happy to meet our request, at no additional cost. We were relieved to have someone else do the install. BEWARE.

A sales rep came out to the house and gave a thorough walk through and explanation of what options we had available. They even came with demo windows for us to see the differences in person! Out of the 4 quotes we received, Smart Energy Solutions came out to be the best with the most knowledgeable sales rep. Our appointment was confirmed and on the day of Serge and his team were on time and organized. They did a walk through of the house and made sure that I could work from home with our 2 dogs and cat for the next 2 days with little displacement.
