Karaoke Wednesday rocks! The 15x30 dance floor becomes your stage with all the power you'd expect…read morepumping out of a club audio system. Since all the speakers point at the dance floor, you also get the best audio in the whole venue. With about 25 singers, Lori the DJ used only the minimum necessary filler music so the rotation was as quick as it could be. You can expect to sing about 3 songs during the 4-hòur show. The club looks unimpressive from the outside, but inside it's clean, cozy and welcoming to everyone. There's a pool table, keno machines. The bar staff are attentive. Drink prices are on the low end. The restrooms are clean. They come in 3 flavors, male, female, and 2 private, large, unisex restrooms(which are also wheelchair accessible) The dance floor is set up for a great light show. Definitely put Square on your must-see list. You won't go wrong.

This DJ was extremely rude to us. On our first song he scolded us for putting songs in the queue, which is the point of karaoke. I have no issue with interchanging folks to sing so that it's fair. He made many rude comments when we were on stage. After a few of us performed he said "okay now let's get the energy up on this next song". The song in question was 'you're a mean one Mr. Grinch'. Which I imagine was pretty embarrassing for him. Every other song was him and his friend singing and unfortunately they sounded horrible. I like this bar a lot but I'll never expose myself to a terrible karaoke evening like this again. I really hope auricle finds a karaoke dj who is talented and kind.

First, in the interest of full disclosure, this review is limited to my experience with the venue. I didn't order drinks from the bar, which is why I decided that I would be relatively generous with the rating I gave it. I figure, if I didn't use the full range of services here, I shouldn't penalize this venue too harshly simply out of my own ignorance. The venue itself is nice, clean, and cozy. The Stansbury Show sold out two shows here and the packed house definitely gave this place a lively vibe. For the comedy show, the venue put out rows of folding chairs, which was fine, but also a little cramped. I found a seat on the end, which gave me a little more leg room then most people, but I imagine I would've felt a bit cramped had I chosen a middle seat. On the other hand, given the space they had to work with, I think the layout they had was probably close to the best they could do. For future shows, I'd suggest incorporating a little more leg room, if possible. The show, by the way, was great. I enjoyed both the opener and the headliner. Stansbury and Fantone were excellent MCs. I think I'd come out just to see them do a set of their own. Parking is available right next to the building, which is nice. But, if you're unfamiliar with the area and you haven't used Google Street View to look up this place in advance, you might miss this place at first glance. The Auricle is attached to The Metropolitan Centre, which (from what I can tell online) is a multi-purpose event space with a large ballroom and a rooftop patio - think wedding receptions, etc. In any case, The Auricle itself is on the west side of the building closer to Dewalt Ave and 6th Street NW, which isn't immediately obvious when you enter the lot off of Cleveland Ave NW. The only reason I downgraded this venue by one star is because I think The Auricle should post a sign indicating that parking for The Auricle is specifically allowed in this lot. A sign in the bathroom poked fun at drinking domestic beers. From that I gather that this may be a good place to find foreign and/or craft brews. Again, I didn't drink here this time, so you'll have to investigate that on your own. Speaking of the bathroom, one last thing is worth noting: the bathroom was clean, but the only urinal in the men's room wasn't draining properly. Someone should get that fixed.

They have really good shows with some talented performers who like to let everyone in the bar have a good time and feel included. The outside patio is great, they usually have grill food on the weekends you can order. The inside is decorated very nicely also! Overall I would visit this bar any day of the week!

Where to start... Opening Night-Ronnie from Jersey Shore, (supposed to appear) Tilla Tequila (she…read moredidnt show), Giulietta and IPHONIC. Before heading down to Akron which is an hour away, I called to see what the cover charge was. Left a message and Jordan called back letting me know it was $10 at the door. Cool. (average for any decent club). Once we arrive to the red carpet laid out, and spotlight, they tell us $20 at the door... REALLY? Ok maybe worth it with all the celebs and artists in there right? Nope! To see Ronnie was an additional $15. After finding out where IPHONIC will be playing we headed upstairs. Bar staff had no clue what they had and couldn't even open the Heinekin bottles that some of us ordered. Although the club was popping, good music, views of Ronnie without paying the additional $15 was just fine. IPHONIC got the crowd rowdy!!! Music by the DJ's =good stuff. To step outside was like murder, you had to wait to come back in even after having a stamp. HA. I feel once they get it all together, ( the right way) it may be worth another trip. On a normal night though I hope they don't have a cover, cuz that place wasn't like a Portland club by any means. Biggest Club in Ohio maybe, but definately not the HOTT SPOT!!
