They are open until 11:30pm Friday and Saturday nights and 10:30pm all other nights. My husband loves the Lychee black tea with coconut jelly. It's nice and sweet, but doesn't leave you feeling too full or sickly like the milk teas tend to. What's special about Tea ETC is they let you pick your tea, pick the temperature and pick your sweetness. I'm not sure if people like to drink their tea hot, but you can request ice to make it super cold. They serve it without ice otherwise. But I think the ability to pick your sweetness is great! I'm weening myself off sugar in other areas of my life, so to be able to ask for my Bubble tea with only half or quarter sugar is fantastic.

To my knowledge I have tried almost all of the bubble tea bars in the Sunnybank area (I am such a fan!). I consider myself, quite the bubble tea connoisseur now. I've been back to Tea Etc a few times to order as many different flavours as possible to 'test' it out. I have found that some bubble tea tastes good here, but then also some bubble tea they make don't taste as good as their fellow neighbour Tea bars. For example classic flavoured Bubble Tea like their Milk Tea, tastes yummy and sweet, but then the Taro Milk Tea is passable. Not as delicious as other places I've been to, it's a bit too watered down for my liking. On the few occasions where my favourite go-to bubble tea places are closed and I can't resist a tasty drink, I come here to give it another go- but now, I know which drinks to avoid. An advantage Tea Etc has over some of its neighbours is it is open for an extra hour and a half. While others have closed up shop at 9pm, this place still has one hours and half of service left. This is important to me because, I usually start dinner with friends at around 8pm and often get carried away and forget to order bubble from my favourite place (which closes at 9pm). So when this does happen and if often does on disorganised nights, I wander on over to Tea Etc to have their Milk Tea.... Luckily, they never ruin this classic flavour.

However, on a hot, sunny and unusually humid day, Tea Etc came to the rescue. I got my standard passionfruit green tea with lychee or coconut jelly. It turned out exactly how I like it: not too sweet but fruity enough to mask the green tea flavor. They don't put too much ice, so you're not paying for empty room in your cup. Out of all the boba shops I tried in Australia, Tea Etc stands at the top of my list. Keep on living the boba life, friends: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zccNQPH7Xe0

Tucked…read moreinto a tiny booth beneath a bridal store, and wedged between Michael Hill Jewellers and Culture Kings, this little bubble tea shop is easy to miss but shouldn't be overlooked! Bubble teas are gaining popularity as a refreshing alternative to coffee or juice as a pick me up, and Tea Etc have got their recipes down pat. Their drinks aren't as sickly sweet as many of the large bubble tea chains, and the service is very personalised. The staff are incredibly fast, friendly (on some occasions they've even taken my straw wrapper and binned it for me behind the counter), and bilingual, which is one of the secrets to their success. Tea Etc's flagship store is in Sunnybank, aka The Real Chinatown, and since opening in the city it's become an instant success among international students and locals alike. Tea Etc offer a reward card for frequent sippers, and it won't be long until you're racking up the stamps and inching one step closer to your free tea. My picks from the extensive menu include: Jasmine Green Milk Tea, Plum Tea (NB: these aren't fresh, sweet plums but the preserved and salty kind), and the Red Bean frappe icy. But keep drinking into winter too! If you're not a fan of iced beverages, keep an eye out for their heated specials: hot ginger tea with honey infusions. Mmmm. Drinks range from $3 - $4 a pop.
