Imagine an idyllic beachside setting. Palm trees, soft sand, sparkling sea and a slight breeze. You wonder "what more can I want for?". Then on that breeze you catch the scent of a freshly ground coffee bean. You follow the scent untill you begin to also follow the sound of happy chatter over the clink of cups on saucers. This tiny little coffee house always seems full of happy coffee goers and yet the staff still seem to keep up. You wont find a large array of cakes and pastries, only a few options of lovely home made treats. But you know that's ok as the focus is all on the coffee and the company. Loved it! Friendly staff. Amazing coffee. Nice patio seating. Right by the beach. :) They have fresh pastries that look delicious. Lots of hot surfers come in there too. I loved this funky and serious coffee loving shop. The main focus is....yup, you guessed it, coffee! Whilst there is some home baked goodies for a snack and a choice of rain or banana bread for breakfast, it's really just a side dish to the main course. The coffee is strong, well rounded without being bitter and has a great flavour. I loved my soy latte and would have to say its one of the best I've had in the Mooloolabah stretch of shops. A new addition since my last visit 8 months ago is a Japanese cold drip extractor which uses time (5-6 hours) to slowly extract the flavour from the beans to produce a smooth and flavoursome extraction. If you want to taste this rare liquid give their iced coffees ago. The vibe of the cafe is young and funky, decorated in hessian coffee bags and wooden tables. Getting a seat is a challenge so be prepared you may end up taking away and heading to the beach to partake in your caffine fix. Not a big hardship really :-) Having explored quite a few cafés over the past week on our holiday I would say, If you're looking for good coffee in this part of the Sunshine Coast then I think you would be remiss not to give The Good Bean a try. read more

The best coffee place I've been able to find on the Sunshine Coast, The Good Bean just happens to be across the road from Mooloolaba beach. Choice! You can't really go wrong here. It's definitely worth bypassing Zarraffa's, Starbucks, GJs etc to get here. The only issue I've ever had is a "there'll be a 25 minute wait on orders" response on a hot Sunday morning, which was a bit disappointing. Let's put that down to unprecedented demand. read more

Friendly staff is a great start when you're battling in the coffee market. Choices are many along this strip, however the Good Bean has groovy magazines to browse whilst you sip your caffeine. This bustling little cafe on the Mooloolaba Esplanade (right across from the kid's play area up the Surf Club end) was a perfect find on a lazy Sunday afternoon at the beach. I haven't been to the Sunshine Coast for about three years and I was not expecting to find a cute little cafe with pretty amazing coffee. It just doesn't happen. I'm happy to say things have changed while I've been away! While the wait may be long especially during peak times, but what do you expect when the other choices are GJs, Starbucks, and Coffee Club? I would wait half an hour for decent coffee if they were the other choices nearby. The coffee came with a freckle on the side which was an unexpected blast from the past. There was a small range (maybe about 4 types) of cakes and biscuits on the counter, with at least two flourless options. I didn't have any, this time, but they looked tempting. The vibe was great for a quick sit down after walking along the beach before I had to go back to reality (and the drive home). read more

Wonderful cappuccino right below our hotel. The perfect place to get your coffee while visiting Mooloolaba. It was right under our hotel, and they made our drinks perfectly. Coffee is divine, setting is impeccable and holy smokes the brownies are to die for. Like Chris B says in his review, walk past the Coffee Clubs, the Zarrafa's and the Starbucks and go to The Good Bean as this is definitely as good as coffee gets. read more
