One of the best places in Valentine to have a nice dinner and a comfortable atmosphere. They work very hard to make sure you enjoy your meal and make sure you're taken care of. I've been several times with family as well as a few business meals and they have never disappointed. read more

I don't always eat when I am in Valentine but when I do it's at the Peppermil. This place is fantastic and the staff and owner really care about the service they provide and the food they serve. Great small town dining experience. read more

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT - Everybody recommended this restaurant, although I don't know why. I ordered the beef tips & noodles. My husband had the chicken fried streak. Mine was tough and very salty. His was tough and flavor-less. The service was choppy & interuptive. The prices were high. We spent about $50 and the decor was cheap looking and sparse. Stains on the flooring. Could have had a better meal at a chain (I try to avoid them) but after this place, I will be re-thinking that decision. read more

Fantastic food and service, our server was #8 Michelle. First meal was Easter Brunch Buffett... We ate away the homesickness with fantastic food. On our way back to Omaha we had "Lunch". We started with the "Fingers 1/2 pound, worthy of a road trip in there own... Then had the chicken fried steak, and the Philly Pasta... OUTSTANDING favors and variety. The garlic bread is to die for. We have about six pounds of leftovers and will get our second food coma when we get home. read more

Great steak and very friendly service. I went here with a large group and they were very prompt, kind, and welcoming to our whole group. Food was phenomenal!! This is a must stop! read more

Fantastic! The great food, freindly service, good vibes, and wide variety of beers all combined for an unexpectedly and exceptionally pleasant meal! read more

A family owned business, these folks strive to make your dining experience satisfying and memorable. I've had their steaks, prime rib, gourmet salads and sandwiches, all good, in portions that will fill you up and then some. Highly recommended to anyone passing through north central Nebraska. I would eat there even if the owners weren't my son and beautiful daughter-in-law!!! read more

Awesome chicken nachos!! Really good Reuben! Restaurant was very clean and staff was friendly.

Standard Americana fare, service was prompt and food arrived. Everything was as to be expected good little place in a small town.

DO NOT EAT HERE! My steak was good, the rib eye. But the problems added up. No croutons for a crappy salad of iceberg (croutons sold next door), appetizer came after the meal, waitress to young to serve drinks so we wait 5 to 10 min each time, wife's steak cold and beyond raw (ordered medium) and 10 min to fix the same steak which came back on the well done side. No compensation, we had to pay for it even tho it didn't get eaten. Not 2 bites. We didn't get to eat together. By the end we just wanted to leave. Oh and 2 steaks and 4 beers and an app were over $100 and not a word was said about the calamity of errors. DO NOT EAT HERE. Not that you have much choice in the shitty town of Valentine. read more

We had a fantastic lunch here on our way through Valentine to Deadwood. Quick service, flavorful food, large portions....we will definitely come back any time we're in the area! read more

Passing through on the way to Rapid City and was pleasantly surprised with how good the food is, etc... Atmosphere is geared more toward a family (and I was alone but still felt comfortable and welcomed). I had the Sand Hills Fish-perfectly breaded (I could still tell it was fish and could actually taste the fish vs. the breading!) . My waitress was Michelle and she gave me excellent service! read more

This restaurant/bar was amazing. Great steak and shrimp, probably the best ive had in a while. Bar tender was nice and was easy to talk to. Professional appearance. Id recommend anyone i know to this restaurant. read more

Everything was great. Would love to stay more days to eat here every day. Cajun prime rib, mmmmmm.

Six of us ate at this restaurant last night. We all had excellent meals. The fillet and the Mulligan steaks were tender, nicely seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The chicken fried steak was also very good. The service was also very good. read more

I have been here in Valentine for 4 months. Every time I have been to this place I believe the food is bland. I continued to come here because the locals swear by it and that is where they want to go. Up until this evening the service was great. Now don't get me wrong I understand being busy and in their defense they did not seat me because the rest of my party was not here yet. What I am deeply disturbed by is the lack of people noticing that I sat here for 2 hours and only 1 server asked if I was still waiting!(obviously!). There was no one sitting at the bar for 65 minutes of my wait time. I was not offered to wait at the bar or even so much as a drink. In the mean time I was told that there was a table ready for us and I could go sit there if I wanted. I expressed that I did and the host stated he would get the table ready. That was about 15 minutes ago and yet I am still sitting here. Why don't I leave you may ask, well I am not so rude to stand friends up who have invited me and were detained on the ranch. This is why I took it upon myself to reserve a table. As I write this review not one server or the host has returned. Simple common courtesy goes a long way. Update: I finally was seated when the rest of my party arrived. I had wonderful service and much to my surprise I ordered the special and it was wonderful. The host did come apologize to me but also did have the nerve to tell me fighting back online isn't the way to go. It hurts small town business. To that si,r I say, I could have made a scene. I too am from a small town and work in extensive customer service and would never think to treat a patient or a customer of mine in that manner. To the rest of the staff at Peppermill kudos for making my experience better. read more

This place is great. Good food all around in an area a lonnnnnnnnggggggggg way from the next best place to eat. Highlights were the brisket, steak tips on salad, and macaroni and cheese patty melt. Plus you get to drink some local brews with lunch. Excellent choice if traveling thru the Sandhills. read more

I wasn't able to be with my mom on Mother's Day because I'm a horrible person. I called up The Peppermill to reserve a to-go box for her from their Mother's Day brunch buffet. They were extremely accommodating and took down my payment info and marked her down as a paid reservation to ensure it was easy for my mom. The food is always great; they are very creative and continually work on developing up new/delicious dishes while remaining faithful to their legendary steaks. Have to stop in here anytime you're traveling on Highway 20. read more

If they have Beer Cheese Soup at lunch, get it. No crackers needed. Absolutely the best soup I have EVER tasted. And I'm old.

Food fabulous but be careful they add 18% tip with out you knowing. Glad to give my own tip but didnt catch it on the bill.

Started out with the shaved steak nachos which were fantastic. Then I had the best fried fish plate I've had in a long time with a great light crispy breading on what seemed like very fresh fish. The other people in my group loved the burgers and prime rib sandwiches that they had. Would recommend to everybody. read more

Excellent. Family of 5 very satisfied. Fish, Philabraska, Brisket Nachos, Mushroom Burger, Smokestack sandwich, all excellent. Also liked the fries. Waitress said it was a mixed green salad and NOT iceberg. It was iceberg. Otherwise fantastic! read more

The best restaurant in town! You can never go wrong with the Peppermill Prime Rib. You never leave hungry and if you do have any room left you HAVE to try the peanut butter thunder cake!! I could honestly pass up a pay check on the peanut butter thunder cake, along with there other desserts. Peppermill also has a great variety for everyone from appetizers, salads, homemade dinners, steaks and sandwiches! The staff is always super friendly and the food doesn't take long to cook! Make sure you stop here next time you are in town! You won't regret it! read more

Horrible service! My party of 3 people was seated within 5 minutes, got water and ordered and then it was like we couldn't be seen by anyone working!!! Salads took over 30 minutes to come out, the main course was another 20 minutes... We had to chase down another server to get water refills and beg for the check. There were tables in either side of us that had not problem being served, but it was like once the order was placed our waitress was no where to be found. Should have been clued in that the service would suck when locals ahead of us waiting for a table were taking about how they didn't want to be sat in the section we were given because of the horrible service last time. Overall, it is a very steak and potatoes type of place. The food was on the heavy side. The worst part was it was soooooo salty! And with nothing to drink just made it almost impossible to eat. Two people in my party both got the French dip sliders and left 1/2 of the food untouched because couldn't take anymore salt. Sat some more waiting for our ticket, finally flagged down another waitress and got our ticket; then forced the hostess to take our money so we could leave. I'm all for a 2 hour dinner when I actually choose it, but a 2 hour dinner because you're tables being ignored is a joke. read more

A group of us (USPHS Officers) are deployed to Rosebud Hospital and wanted to get out and get a good meal. I found the Pepper Mill on Yelp and the reviews looked good. I'm sure glad we went. The decor isn't the greatest but everything else was very good. Great service, great food and a nice, but smaller selection of local and national brews. I love to smoke meat and I was impressed by the brisket. Make sure you have a hearty appetite, especially with the size of their shrimp. Worth the drive! read more

I am a corporate pilot who stayed in Valentine for one night due to an unforeseen delay. I came across the Peppermill and discovered a gem. I enjoy steaks and have eaten them all over the country. The Valentine Peppermill had one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. I rarely if ever give reviews but due to my experience I felt it necessary to give credit where credit is due. read more

I stayed at the econolodge two doors down from the peppermill and the manager told me the food was to die for. I decided to try it and honestly, they could not have been more correct. It started with a salad that was so tasty I pretty much inhaled it. Such fresh greens.. wow was it good. I had the Mulligan with steak fries. It was perfectly prepared and it was melt in your mouth good. I have paid a lot more in Austin for something that wouldn't even belong on the same table. I would rate this meal better than any restaurant in Austin no matter the price. The steak fries were so tasty and complimented the steak perfectly. I walked out of the peppermill with the realization that I had just had the best meal of my life. If you are ever in the area of Valentine Nebraska, trust me when I tell you that you need to stop by and grab a bite. The staff were great. The restaurant was awesome.. and yes... the food.. "was to die for".. that good. read more

Great food, great service but the lemonade glasses are so tall, if you're under 6 foot, you have to stand to drink. Free refills are offered for the staff's amusement :) read more

This was terrible. The filet wasn't bad, but it had way to much of some salty flavoring--that's saying a lot because usually I add salt to mine. The steak fries were seriously disgusting. It was like they had been soaking in corn oil for a week. Very bad. Do not recommend. read more

This was an amazing find as we were traveling through the area!!! Service was great, food was hot and very tasty. Highly recommend.

Food is fantastic and there are a lot of choices. Burgers are great and very large as are all portions at the Peppermill. Steaks are good and next time I want to try the shrimp along with my steak. Prices were about what I expected $20 or more for the steaks and $10 for the large burgers. Service was very good and the manager happened to meet us by the door and made us feel welcome. My only complaint is the parking lot has many pot holes. There is plenty of parking but the pot holes need to be fixed. read more

In town on buisness. I ordered the prime rib haybuster sandwich. I would say its one of the best prime rib sandwiches i've ever had. Highly recommend this item. read more

Everything was absolutely amazing! Portions were huge! If you are visiting Valentine, The Peppermill is the place to eat!

Great sandwiches and wraps ! 7.99. Clean and very customer service oriented ! 5 stars. For sure !

We were staying at a hotel near by so decided to give this a shot. I was slightly embarrassed because after a long day on the road I was in a very casual outfit and others seemed to be dressed better. None of the staff seemed to care though, I just felt slightly embarrassed walking in. The menu had a lot of choose from , steaks, burgers, fish, chicken,, etc.. I choose the white filet fish that was breaded with their fries. it also came with a dinner salad. I am not sure If they make their ranch dressing but it defiantly was the best Ranch dressing I ever had. The plate came out heaping full, the fish was as long as the plate . The fish I think was slightly under seasoned and I had to put some salt on it to give it what I thought it should have. The fries were very good, small spiral cut and crispy. My hubby ordered the chop steak dinner and it was great. Chopped steak cooked to order with mushrooms onions and cheese. ( I was envious ) . My 6 year old had Chicken strips with the same fries I had. He loved the chicken strips but did not like the fries. Price including drinks and tip was around 50 bucks for the 3 of us. which isn't horrible for a nice place. read more

Traveling around the country, this is possibly one of the one of the finest steak houses in the US. Melt in your mouth tender aged Prime Rib and succulent Rib Eye steak. Out of this world appetizers, not to mention their award winning burgers, seafood and other entrees. Located in the middle of the Sandhills, known as the worlds best cattle country. We stop there whenever we pass though and have never had but the best experience. The staff and cooks see to it that every detail is prefect. A trip to Valentine NE and the Peppermill is a must stop.. read more

We went there because of the reviews but were disappointed. The steak was tough and tasteless and the "long grain wild rice" was a mushy rice pilaf that contained not a single grain of wild rice. However the fish, salad and beer were good. read more

Food is good. Service is good. The owner is an idiot. It would be nice if he could use the sign out front for good like advertising a new burger or something instead of using it to complain about people on the internet. read more
