All week long, Peppeetree Steaks and Wine has been advertising a fried Catfish and/or Shrimp Dinner for Friday and Saturday nights, until 6:00 pm, December 7 & 8, 2024. Our family has been looking forward to this all week! When my DIL called at 4:45 pm to place our orders, she was very rudely told that the kitchen was closed, and to call back tomorrow. WEAK, and OVERPRICED, and lazy! Twice baked potato, DRY, DRY, and TASTELESS. Ribeye steak sandwich-once I put the SMALL steak in the oven, and heated the meat thru out for about 8-9 minutes, it wasn't to bad-the meat that is, BUT, the RUBBER like lettuce, and LIGHT PINK tomato-I think it was a 1.5 inch tomato slice, BUT can't be positive, was GARBAGE! Who puts CRAP extra's on a sandwich like this, except folks who just don't give a damn! These folks sure don't care! Glad we didn't waste our money on this CRAP establishment, used a gift card. Will Notify the person who gave us the card, PLEASE don't waste your money on this place again! OVER HYPED, and OVER PRICED! My wife asked for her steak cooked MEDIUM, they seem to only know MEDIUM-RARE, and more to the RARE than MEDIUM! I love their steak seasoning. I buy this for my family during the holidays. Everyone really enjoys it on their steaks.

The takeaway restaurant is an initially off-putting concept, but there's a certain appeal to picking out your piece of beef from the counter and sending it away to immediately be cooked. In my case, it was a burger, and while there were some flaws that even dedicated burger-makers make - the bun wasn't toasted very well and the bacon was cheap - but you couldn't argue with the quality of the meat, and the crust which resulted from the excellent sear of the grill resulted in a dang tasty burger. It also proved their worth for handling one of their $27 porterhouse steaks. They make other things, too, like homemade soups, casseroles, and even pork cracklins, the latter of which made for a pretty nice side to the burger. They have a concentrated selection of wine and beer. I can't speak to the wine, but the limited inventory of bombers was nicely curated, and tended to run at least a few bucks cheaper than Filet and Vine, which in hindsight would probably serve as a better name for this place. It's not necessarily a niche that everyone needs filled, but if you need some nicely-grilled steaks to take home, or if you just need a quick bottle of wine, Pepper Tree is a pretty solid bet. read more

I've been here twice and each time the staff is super friendly and helpful. We don't know much about wine and I'm pretty picky about what I can drink, like super sweet without the alcohol back taste that wine usually has. They are also a butcher shop! We picked up some steaks with their seasoning added and they turned out delicious . If you don't want to cook it yourself, they have a service where you call ahead and order and they will cook the meat for you, they also have sides like potatoe salad you can get as well. Every time I visit Pepper Tree I am introduced to something new and fabulous! The staff is always super helpful and always willing to suggest what fits my tastebuds. Gave them 21/2 hrs to prepare our 30 Anniversary dinner; gave explicated instruction how to cook my wife's filet I.e do not burn the steak just because I want it well done. What I said was no pink. That means to cook it slowly! Arrive at appointed time, dinners was not ready, about 15 minutes after arrival the dinner was brought to the car. Off we went home! Sad to say the steak was food medium with a pink center. It appeared that to market up for the late delivery they cut shot the steak cooking time. Good and , wife didn't get an anniversary dinner steak, on the other hand I had. A steak sandwich the net day. There is no excuse for the delay when They had sufficient lead time. Those of us here, of a certain age, fondly remember the old Penny Profit on Hull St. and their excellent steaks. Peppertree Steaks N' Wine is a rebirth of that fine old establishment for the new age. Their butchers clearly show their dedication to creating premium steaks for reasonable prices. Their wine selection is extensive. Great place to buy beautiful cuts of meat. They also have casseroles, stuffed baked potatoes, etc. you can buy and take home to cook. The wine selection is also very nice. The main thing that keeps me coming back is their signature dry rub. I've tried to replicate it many, many times but can not get it right, so I'll leave it to them. Never bought anything there except for their incredible dry rub for steaks. One of our friends cooked a steak coated with it and we were hooked.
