Taking a gander at all of the reviews on this CVS, I am quite confused as to other's experiences. I…read morecould totally see something negative happening if you over-demanded or had complex shopping requests, but on the whole, I have found this CVS to be reliable, quick during most visits, and relatively orderly. One plus is that they are pretty well staffed here. I've been to other CVS locations in the city, where you hit the button to ask for someone to help you open the Tylenol cabinet, only to wait for an inordinate amount of time before you have to walk all the way back up to the front to get the person yourself. You're able to get the help you need in almost every part of the store here. Granted, you're dealing with Philly folks, so they're not going to give you the nicest smile or friendliest service. But they'll help you out with what you ask, and frankly, when I'm coming to CVS, I'm not looking for the red carpet anyways so that's more than enough for me. Only knocks are probably the fact that aisles are often getting clogged up due to constant restocking happening. Not their problem honestly, because they're serving pretty continuous traffic opening to closing because of UPenn and Drexel nearby, so the fact that they're on top of inventory in the aisles instead of letting shelves stay empty is a good sign to me. Pharmacy folks are also helpful in the Philly fashion. Don't think I've had much of a wait ever, except for right after work, as expected, but even then they recently installed these partially self-serve kiosks within the past year that have greatly sped up prescription pick ups here. On the whole, I think you shouldn't believe all the revenge reviews happening here. This place is more than sufficient and above average for CVS locations in the city.

I'm updating my review & upgrading my rating, since I've been to CVS many times over the years…read more CVS has been consistently okay. They don't always have what I need, but many times they do. The employees are nice & helpful. The receipts are still way too long, which not only wastes paper, but also wastes time trying to rip off the extra coupons, throw them away, fold it all up & jam it into my bag. It's annoying, but it's a feature of every CVS I've been to, not this one in particular.

Reviewing a pharmacy, sort of a pointless endeavor. It's not like a barber, where the reviews will…read moreinfluence whether you go there or somewhere else. If you need medicine, you have to go. So why give this CVS in West Philly a 4-star review? To be completely honest, there's very little standout about this CVS location. To earn a 3-star in this business, you need to have prescriptions ready, a competent staff, and no uncontrolled fires. In other words, most of the pharmacies in Center City Philadelphia deserve a 2-star review at best. Downtown, the staff's too busy halting thieves, breaking up fights, and cleaning up the perpetual mess to actually help anyone. By virtue of this CVS being away from the madness of Market Street, and the exceptional kindness of one or two of its pharmacists, I am happy to give this place a 4-star review. Compared to the other options, it soars.

Giving CVS a bad review is pointless but here I am anyway. I've been to a great deal of other CVS…read morelocations that were much better. What really irritates me about this pharmacy is they are closed random times. They say they are closed the same time every day for lunch (which that alone is stupid...why can't they stagger their lunch schedules so they remain open the entire business day) I've been here at 1 pm and they were closed for lunch, and I've been here as late as 2:45 pm and they were still closed for lunch. They need to be more consistent. They are also closed random times because they claim their system is down. This happens so much I question if it's really true. The technicians seem to be standing around, talking on their phones, laughing and joking with one another, and not focusing on serving customers. Why they need 7 technicians (I counted) all standing around doing nothing at the same time boils down to one thing - poor management. I've worked in pharmacies. You don't need that many people behind the counter if everyone is doing their job, so something is obviously wrong. Recently, I had medications to pick up but I was very ill and had no one to get them for me. Their delivery is very expensive and takes forever, I've tried it. I realize they can't hold prescriptions forever and knew they would restock them. However, when I called to ask them to refill them, first they told me they wouldn't because I didn't pick them up the last time, so they would not fill them again, and they hung up on me. Then I called back to try and ask again if they would please refill them and I was told by another person that they were in fact refilling them, so the first person lied. I realize I was rude at that point but I was frustrated. Why can't you just refill prescriptions? Why do you have to punish me because I was unable to pick them up due to being sick? Instead, I was lectured on the phone and was told I was too old to be acting this way. Like I said, I realize I was not the easiest to talk to at that point but if they had just said they would refill them the first time and not given me a bunch of garbage (plus hanging up on me) I wouldn't have gotten frustrated to begin with. Their staff needs some serious training in customer service, and managerial skills to keep themselves open for all normal business hours. Yes, working in a pharmacy is not easy, but if you can't handle dealing with sick people who are frustrated because they can't get their medication maybe you should do something else. Unfortunately, what can you expect. Most of these technicians are uneducated, and work more barely over minimum wage. I actually am probably expecting too much out of them.
