My husband and I are fairly new the area and decided we would try Pepito's. We put our name on the list for a table along with approximately 15-20 other people. Two young women walked in off of the street in short black dresses, hugged a waiter and were immediately seated. I asked the hostess if they took reservations and she proceeded to tell me not on weekends. This was Friday night. So from that information I immediately knew that these two women were seated in front of us and all of the other people waiting to be seated. I have never been so offended in my life. This is definitely the poorest customer service I have ever received. My review is totally based on customer service as I cannot rate the food because I walked out with no explanation from the manager. So, wear your short black dress and flirt with the waiters and you possibly may be seated. Everyone else gets to wait! I won't be trying to eat here again. Can't say I was impressed, the server I had was good, but the food was only average if that. I ordered 2 chicken quesadillas? and both were very oily from frying the tortillas in oil and also the oil separating out of the cheese they used in the meal. I got a miniscule serving of guacamole and it disappeared down into the mound of lettuce in the center of the plate. When I ordered some more so I had some for my quesadillas?, I found an extra $1.50 tacked onto my bill for way less than a quarter measuring cup of extra guacamole!! I don't usually raise a fuss about such things, I simply don't go back. That will be the case with Pepitos in Bluewater Bay for me! 'Nuff said about that. read more

Disappointed! A couple of years ago this place was really good. The family loved to go here to have a family meal. As other Mexican restaurants began to close in the town, the quality here began to slide. The fajitas went from being tender and flavorful to the bland shoe leather consistency. As a result, we stopped going. After a year of avoiding the place, we decided to give the place another try. Seated quickly. The service was attentive. Drinks never went dry. A plus. However that is where the compliments end. The fajitas went from bland shoe leather to dry stringy overly lime soaked strips of meat. My youngest who used to devour the beef barrito barely ate half of it and did not want to take the rest for leftovers. That describes the food quality. However, that wasn't the most disconcerting thing. As we ate our meal, we were constantly swarmed by flies! How disgusting! Flies in a restaurant are normally the result of an unclean kitchen! Especially when the entrance has a double set of doors to help prevent the unwanted entry of the pests. Additionally our booth wasn't far from the kitchen entrance. Constantly having to swat these disgusting pests away from our food made the meal completely unenjoyable. After staying away for so long, we had hoped things had improved. However, much to our disappointment, they have not. This was Peppitos last chance for our family. We will not return again. read more

If you want mediocre tex - mex, then head to pepitos. It has everything you expect from a typical cheesy mexican restaurant. THe prices are fine and I have nothing bad to say about their service. However, since I'm from San Diego and used to good Mexican food, I'm a bit more critical and can't say I'm too impressed. very disappointed: Today is Veterans Day, this is a very military area and there is no acknowledgement of any kind. Even a simple American Flag was not seen. I know it's a Mexican Restaurant but this is America and we honor and pay tribute to our soldiers on this day. I dare to say that most of their business comes from retired or active duty personnel. I have recommended it many times myself mainly at the Eglin Air Force Base Hospital. I have also taken a lot of new people to it before. Going down-hill. I have eaten here no less than a dozen times this year (2015). I have previously been very satisfied with the food. Service in the restaurant has always been very inconsistent except at the bar, which has been consistently good. i have previously returned food that I was dissatisfied with, only to have a fresh serving returned to me that was outstanding. Tonight I ordered a rib-eye steak dish, that I have had before at their Miramar beach location. The first bite had an odd/ spoiled taste but the second bite from a different section of the steak did not. Long story shortened, some of it was fine but after 3 rancid bites I sent it back and they refused to replace it. I accepted their offer to take it off the bill and left without dinner. Management has changed again, the 3rd time this year. The first one was great, the second, Damion was ok, and now it is deplorable. If you want to eat here its a gamble; maybe good, maybe bad.I am attempting to report tonight's problem to the Dept. of Health. read more

You would think after this week that I like this place, but I don't. I think they are over priced on their single dishes. Ex.'s : Taco's, Quesadillas. I ordered a Taco ( lunch time meal ) for about $4.00. She brought out a plate with 1 taco and nothing else. Next time I went, (for a dinner meal ) I asked for another Taco and this time she asked if I wanted lettuce and tomato, I said yes and she brought out a plate with 1 taco and lettuce and tomato on the side. I was charged $2.00 extra for the lettuce and tomato ! Last time I went, ( another dinner meal ) my daughter and I asked for Steak Quesadillas, 1 plate for each with 1 Quesadilla on it. NOTHING Else.. BUT ! Was charged $2.00 for the steak, and $5.00 for the Cheese wrap ! The waiter got my drink wrong, plainly stating I wanted a Margarita on the Rocks and he brought out a Frozen ( difference in money was $1.00 ). On their menus, they need to state that lettuce and tomato are Extras and WILL BE Charged ! Which is stupid ! Needless to say, it will be a LONG time before I return to such a place. I think after the uproar of having a Newer Restaurant in town, others will see its not worth it and move on to something better. You have to work it right to get a better tip. We enjoy Pepito's very much. We always have great service and the food is quite tasty and always prepared just as we ask for it. The chips and salsa arrive at your table almost the second you sit down. I call that excellent service! On our most recent visit my husband had the Big S Burrito and let me tell you this thing is huge!! When it came out it looked exactly like it is pictured on the menu. The ingredients were fresh and he enjoyed it. Let me tell you though when they say BIG they mean it!! This burrito was stuffed with chicken, beef, lettuce, black beans and much more. I had the chicken chimichanga and it was perfect as always. The chicken was not over cooked and the tortilla was lightly fried which was perfect. The meal came with beans, rice and guacamole. Delicious! My husband and I drove down from Crestview for lunch today. He had the tacos, I had a chicken taco with cilantro lime and onions. I ordered a cheese enchilada and my husband ate it! Have eaten at Pepito's several times. Went for lunch today. Ordered a dish that we have enjoyed before in this restaurant, the Chile Rellenos. The food arrived piping hot and took a bite, the Chile was rotten/spoiled. I asked my companion to smell it and they confirmed it was very well past spoiled. I took the plate to the waiter and told him to smell/try it. He took the plate to the kitchen and quickly came back and said" That was a good Chile, we made them yesterday and its the cheese. I can only tell you that I have eaten a lot of Chile Rellanos and never had one served rotten or anything remotely like that. That he would BS us like that really was so unprofessional I asked for the check and we paid and left. It appears this place has started going downhill. To tell a customer their palate was not used to the cheese or Chile used by the server the when the dish was clearly bad and in fact spoiled is the kiss of death for my patronage. I've been here several time and should have known better than to order food - just go for a drink with friends. However, I did order Taco al pastor. It had a measly amount of chunked beef, hot sauce and what I guess was suppose to be peppers and onions on the side (Looked and tasted like chunky salsa). Very bland, no flavor. I was told they were cooked in pineapple but pineapple does not come with meal. They did bring me some pineapple chunks which I rolled into the taco but it really didn't help. I had a coupon for buy one get one margaritas and server Luis would not honor it. He said only one per table so I sat alone at a table and he proceeded to ignore me for 15 minutes. There was a buy one get one at the bar, but he didn't mention that. So I drank water. I came in at 5:40 but didn't get served food until after 7 p.m. The corn cake on the sopa I ordered was so dry and hard I couldn't pierce it with my fork. The lettuce and little bits of meat were tasty, but not worth $6.00. I actually had planned to order an appetizer, food and drinks, but after dealing with Luis, lost my appetite. I won't be back. And I will tell my friends why. There are too many places with better service and better food. I usually love Mexican restaurants, but I would rather eat taco bell than come here. read more

This place is pretty good. I always get the shrimp quesadilla, which is always good and the shrimp size is pretty big. My husband says it is just ok though. The restaurant has made some changes to the menu and he is not a fan of the change. He used to love the tourta...which i know is probably misspelled. But it is like a big sandwich with meat. I live near Houston, Tx. where if you can't find a tex-mex restaurant you must be lost. we have over five to choose from with in 20 miles from our house. Well my family and I decided to come to this resteraunt simply because It's the only Mexican one. I'm going to have to say it was wonderful my server she was a cute little thing quick and very polite yes you may yes sir the busboys seemed to actually enjoy there job unlike other places where they're just throwing stuff around. We got our food very fast which was nice drinks were filled on time. I have no complaints and I would come again except this time bring more family it seems very family friendly and the margaritas are great! 2 for 1 every Friday night can't beat that! Three times I have tried the Niceville Pepitos. And every time the experience is more and more disappointing. Mr cool manager if you think strolling over and being all Mancho is any way to run a retail business you went to the wrong hospitality school. Drinks? Terrible... And to charge me to fix crazy, and to try and defend you action by being rude to your customers no way. Food? OK but when the portion is messed up why not fix it? Food was the best thing going and you just took it off the bill instead of offering to correct portion. Service? So sad, service industry, be friendly, polite and curious we tried so many times to to communicate with server and she just seemed like she wanted to disappoint. By far the worst part of the night was the arrogance of the manager, I didn't want any comps I just wanted something taken off my I didn't get and you acted like I was the worst customer ever.
