Prattville Alabama Pepys charged me for top of line Monroe Presidential shocks both front and rear but installed Monroe mid line OESpectrum (mid line) on rear and standard Monroe shocks on front of my 2023 GMC 2500 savanna v6. My receipt has presidential charged on rear and KYN 554348 charged on receipt. No one called me for this change of materials and they installed black OESpectrum on rear and yellow Monroe basic on front. This is crooked business dis honest practice and I want a refund. read more

I've had my car serviced here a few times. Never really had an issue with the work they did; however, I was quoted $400 more for the same repair by this shop, decided to go with the Pep Boys in Montgomery for cheaper price. Don't know how it's possible that there's this much variation when it's the same company. Also, last time my husband was IN UNIFORM and they just happened to forget to add our military discount. I've had a military discount every other time I've been there even when my husband wasnt in uniform or I was by myself. I would much rather go to the Montgomery PepBoys- thermostat repair cost me $300 compared to the $741 (without diagnostic cost) Prattville quoted me. Also, they add on Pep Boys warranty for additional $30 without your consent too. Make sure you get a printout of your charges prior to paying them. read more

On Monday August 4th my daughter and I went to 4 different locations in Prattville attempting to have a battery installed. It was nearing the end of the work day when we made it to Pep Boys and I was desperate. Both the young men who were working at Pep Boys found out what we needed, had me pull the car around and had the battery installed and checked within 10 minutes. They were so courteous and helpful. If I could leave a negative review I would. I made an appointment for Sunday morning at 9. First red flag the mechanic did not even show until 1030. I only requested that they inspect my rear brakes as I figured it was getting close to time to change them. Someone pulls my car in and within 30 minutes they start listing multiple things I need "replaced". They start with saying I need rear brakes, calipers, front suspension, and stating my oil was overfilled. I ask them to go show me all of this which they show me a few minor chips on my front tires stating that's how he knows I need front suspension. Then states he isn't even the mechanic. The mechanic finally shows up and "inspects my vehicle". I watch him though the glass and all he does is look at my front tires and then at my car for literally 30 seconds and then proceeds to tell me I need front suspension.... he doesn't not even inspect my brakes or calipers. Needless to say they saw a female alone and were trying to scam me. My car has less than 60,100 miles on it. No where needing a suspension change. They then tell me they have no parts but the brake pads and can replace those today. I ask them to do the brake pads but nothing else anyways. They take 3 hours to do them just in the end to come out and say oops we picked up the wrong brake pads and actually can't do it today. In the end they fixed nothing and said they would need to order the parts to fix everything. I told them don't bother. Just to return my car. They finally put it back together and I leave at 3pm GETTING NOTHING DONE. They call me 2 weeks later, this was during the holidays, and tell me they ordered all the parts and it was going to be about 3500 dollars. I took my car to two other places, feeling like this place lied to me, only to confirm they had. Both places confirm I don't actually need anything replaced at the moment and my front suspension was great. This place saw a female alone and tried to scam me over thousands of dollars. when I called to one warn the place what had happened so they could hold the workers accountable they said "what do you want me to do". No apology, no asking who worked on my car, nothing. Super rude and dismissive. moral of the story don't take your car here. While there on my initial visit I watched several people come in saying they were told they needed stuff done and was told it would have been done days ago only to find out there car hadn't have even been touched yet. This place is a scam, should be shut down and avoided at all costs. read more

This is THE ABSOLUTE worst customer service experience I have ever had!! I was referred to this facility by my limited car warranty provider and it was horrible!! I waited 6 hours initially for ONLY a diagnostic WITH an appointment! I was not a walk in. Then I was given another appointment to come back and waited another 4 hours for the "repairs". Which they couldn't even do them all so they referred me to the dealership. But Dan the front desk person did not follow through and send in the information to the warranty department so I was asked to pay for repairs. And all of this confusion was because Dan is horrible at his job. When I expressed frustration he kept calling me "rude lady" then he walked off!! Horrible customer service. I would suggest you find somewhere else to repair your car because this is not it!!! read more

I was so lucky to get stranded where I did... I pulled off the highway during a long trip from FL to OH to grab food, in the drive-through my breaks suddenly gave outbreak fluid was squirting everywhere. I was HUNDREDS of miles from home with 4 kids in tow, virtual school to do, and a tun of luggage in the truck bed. The manager here was amazing, he understood the predicament and did everything he could to make it as easy and quick as possible. The part needed to be brought in, but once it was we were fixed and on our way. The manager had his guys help drive our luggage over to the hotel since we could not fit it all in an Uber. My "stranded 2 days" could have been so much worse, I was lucky to have found this shop! The prices were reasonable and fair! read more

Had a small hole in one tire. They tried sucking $400 from me by claiming I needed all tires replaced as well as knuts and whatnot that could have easily been rethreaded. Waited 2 hours because every time I declined a service, they tried to find another problem with the car that was nonexistent or easily able to be fixed by myself. What an amazing customer service experience we had provided by Jason Davis, Manager of Pep Boys. My son plays for the Montgomery Biscuits minor-league baseball team in town and we are traveling to be with him and for the playoffs and encountered road hazard not far from his shop in Prattville Alabama. Our car was disabled with two flat tires. Jason offered to stay open later to accommodate the situation which was above and beyond! In the end we had our car towed to his location. I met Jason at 6:45 am the next day. He found that both of our tires were irreparable. At every turn he offered sage advice, kindness, to myself and family. As it turned out our tires were covered under road hazard warranty so it didn't generate a tire sale for him and Pep Boys, yet he treated us as if it were. Jason Davis represents the ultimate model for customer service and made me a a fan of Pep Boys wherever I may be. Went online to buy a battery, and it said it was free installation. When I got there they said the installation would not be free and immediatly put the cover on and shut the hood. When I asked what the installation was, they said $115. They rushed me out because they did not want to do it. I called and filed a complaint with corporate. The manager called and was not happy that I filed the complaint and offered no remedy. Corporate is yet to return call as promised. Extremely bad service, extremely bad customer service, would not trust them for anything. read more

Ok, I gave Pep Boys my contact info. They sent me an email that they would have the manager contact me... Guess what NO contact!!! I finally did the brakes myself, and this is what I found. 1. The caliper guide pins were incorrectly installed. They are installed in a certain position on each side of the car. 2. Brake line was swinging in the breeze. the mount for it was not reconnected to the car. 3. The actual noise/vibration issue appears to have been cause by the rubber boot of the caliber being caught between the caliper piston and the brake pad itself. This indicates that attention was paid the the positioning of the boot when the piston was compressed back into the caliper. 4. The retaining clips and brake pads were NOT lubricated with any brake grease at all. I replaced ALL of the brake hardware and caliper guide pins. I installed new pads and replaced the caliper with a new one. After all of the work was completed, the brakes work great and NO noise or vibrations. NEVER go to Pep Boys!!!! You have been warned! read more

I took my car in for repair. They charged over $300 and when I received it back (weeks later), it was exactly the same. The mechanic did not fix the problem or even look to see what was truly the matter. Then, they charged me another $350 for the exact same thing I took it in for the first time. One manager claimed he was not charging me again for labor, but looking at my bill - clearly I was charged $175 for labor. Not very good service and had my vehicle for weeks. -- Eventually, they fixed the problem but I had to look it up on line to tell them what to fix. They need to get their act together. Charging me for the same thing twice! Well I guess that is my stupidity. Never again, not this location. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. They will rip you off every time and they do a terrible job at the repairs! My first time there was for an oil change and tire rotation/balance. It caused my steering wheel to shake terribly. When I took it back they said it was because my tires needed to be replaced. Of course all they had in stock were the very most expensive tires. I was leaving for a long trip the next day and had to buy them. At my next oil change I suddenly had an oil leak. We bought our minivan new in 2003 and have never had oil leak before. So I had the next oil change place correct the leak. During the 2nd oil change at Pep Boys, I was told and "shown" the horrible state of my brakes which needed a $800 repair. Now my brakes squeal and never did before in the 13 years I've driven it. By now I've wasted so much money at Pep Boys that I have enough reward points for a free oil change. Stupid me got an oil change at pep boys. Guess what? Suddenly they give me an estimate for a $544 repair that would risk my life if I didn't do it immediately. (I've driven it for a month since then and it hasn't fallen apart like they said it would.) To make it worse, they couldn't redeem my points to pay for the oil change because the Pep Boys website doesn't work to log into your account. Even with my email and member ID# they said they can't redeem the points without a barcode I'd get after logging in. I've been calling customer service and getting the run around with no resolution. They told me to call corporate to figure it out. And....my van is leaking oil again! read more

This review is for a visit that took place a few months ago. I went in to have some brakes put on and it took approx. 3-4 hours for them to be replaced. When they were finally finished I was cashed out and started heading home. About a mile down the road I noticed a violent shaking the seemed to becoming from the rear of my vehicle and a awful rattle so I pulled over and noticed that the lug nuts on one of my back tires had not been tightened. I slowly made my way back to the shop and they ended up having to replace the studs which took another 1 1/2 hours. The only thing I got after that was a sorry and a voucher for a free oil change. The only reason why I gave this two stars is because the brakes were put on properly. read more

Used to be a "Big Ten". Everyone is friendly and helpful. However, if you have TPMS, you'll get charged $10+ per tire to overhaul, even if you don't want it done. Kind of one of those add-ons that lots of dealers do. read more

We were passing through Pratville on our way to Gainesville, Florida, helping move our daughter. She was driving her car as we drove the moving van. We stopped to eat and she mentioned her air pressure light came on. She had just had her car serviced at a Tuscaloosa Honda dealership 3 weeks prior to this day. I looked at the tires and noticed a huge gash in one tire. We felt it to be unsafe for the long drive that lay ahead for us. We pulled into a Pep Boys because it was the closest tire place near us. JAson Davis greeted us and examined our car. He agreed that the tire was unsafe, and also informed us that the other tires had very low tread and recommended all tires be replaced. He also recognized that we were moving and made us a priority case even though it appeared they were extremely busy that Saturday morning. They managed to complete the job and have us on the road in about 2 1/2 hours. We were so appreciative that Peo Boys was available to "save the day" and able to make us feel confident our daughter would be safe for the next 6 hours as she drove to Gainesville, Florida. I would highly recommend this particular Peo Boys in Pratville, Alabama!! It's also wonderful that there is a Pep Boys in Gainesville Florida so our daughter can have her tires checked in the future. We were in the middle of hurricane irma and my air conditioning stopped blowing cold air. We went somewhere in Florida and they told us we needed the compressor replaced. $1000!! I'm so glad we waited until we drove up to Alabama. Turns out we just needed more freon (yes we know nothing about cars). Jason was straight forward and honest but still very nice. Well... Pep Boys in Prattville had my car all day yesterday for installation of wheel bearings for both front tires and an alignment. They told me they would have the part by 1 PM and installed soon after that. By 3:30 PM when I hadn't heard from them, I call them and was informed there was a mixup in the delivery of the part but it would be there shortly and I would be a priority. At 5PM on a Saturday, I get a call from them informing me that they have broken the spindle on my car trying to install the wheelbearings and that is a dealership part and he cannot get it until Monday. they offered to reimburse me for a car rental but there are no car rentals available in this town over the weekend and the only locations open is at the airport, which I can't get to because I don't have a car and I have no family here. When I informed the store of this, their responses " I'm working on it" no offer to drive me out there to pick up a car or anything of that sort. I will see what the end result is and I may amend this review if they agree to make everything right but right now I am not happy with the way this was handled or with what happened. The reason I went to them in the first place is because they advertise their mechanics are all ASE certified ... That made me more comfortable entrusting they know what they're doing.... And they are a national company, not Bubba's Auto Repair in someone's backyard. Update: they made it all right eventually. I will continue to give them business. read more
