This review is for Pep Boys opposite Whole Foods in Destin. Had flat tire on I-90 route east to Tallahassee. Drove to Destin on the temporary spare to have tire checked, all of that time worried that I might need a new tire Pep Boys was slammed when I arrived but they were able to check out and repair tire while I waited. Puncture was in tread. not the sidewall. Amazed that, when I asked the cost, I was told "no charge; have a nice day." Considering how busy they were mid-afternoon, I was very happy that someone was able to look at the tire. That they did so quickly and were able to fix it right away was great news. That they were very friendly and did not even charge me was truly amazing and totally unexpected! Kudos to the management and employees of this PepBoys! read more

One of the employees here wrecked my truck into another vehicle in the parking lot. The manager did not have the insurance information at all, and acted as if he couldn't get it. He was zero help to us, rude and needs to be retrained. All he did was add notes to my invoice saying "customer's vehicle was damaged." After the wreck happened, the employee that wrecked my truck was STILL OUT MOVING OTHER VEHICLES. Save your money and go over the bridge. This place is a joke. Terrible service I went in because I had a leak in the power steering. They me $90 to give me inspection telling me what's wrong. They told me it was my steering pump which I paid for to change out. Got it home and it was still leaking. Took it back they said no it's the pressure line to the power steering pump they changed it out and charged me. I receive nothing back on my pump. I asked for the pump, but of course it had disappeared. I asked for the hose because I was still there and received it. They will tell you anything to get your business and money, but they do not stand up to any of their work they do. It's a terrible place and I would not recommend it to. read more

We asked for the car to be greased and to check the car for a tire balance issue. We got a call back not even 20 minutes later saying I needed 4 new tires and a rear brake job (just the tires quoted at $1,300). You can't tell if someone needs a break job in 20 minutes, I also recently replaced my rear breaks. I would agree I need two new front tires within a month or so, but my back tires are fine. We scheduled an appointment a week out for an alignment at which time the gentlemen was very friendly as we explained we'd need to wait on vehicle. We arrived promptly at our scheduled time and was told it would be finished no longer than 2 hours. We had no other transportation so we walked the area and waited. When we returned, our vehicle had not even been started. The lady at the front desk said "Well, that's just the way it is!" They were doing a gentleman's brakes (whom we witnessed being aggressively spoken to by the same lady earlier) to the tune of $1000 and basically told us, sorry, not sorry, we needed that bay. Bought a caliper here which failed in three months. Brought it back in they replaced the caliper. 15 months later the caliper failed again. They refused to reimburse the cost as i did not bring it into a PepBoys. (When your brakes fail and leak, you don't really have the luxury of driving to the nearest PepBoys.) Do not trust their appointment system! Verify the cost of proposed work! I made a 1 PM appointment for a suspected slow leaking tire repair. They didn't even start the repair (it was a small nail) until 2:30. I kept telling them that I had an appointment 10 miles away at 3 pm, but could reschedule, but they assured me they would get me out in time. They finished me up at 2:58. And charged me $30 (Yikes!) for the repair, to add insult to injury. When I complained to the manager about the slowness, he shrugged and said "that's how long it takes." Really, you normally start on a job 90 minutes after the appointment?? Also, they emailed me a "free car inspection" afterwards which they obviously did not do. One I because I was watching the entire time, plus it had multiple things things like checked oil level, etc which a Tesla obviously does not have. 2 concerns with location: 1: I made an appointment online, showed up, they told me they didn't really utilize the online scheduling, so I had to come back later in the week. 2: I had a bad coolant leak - you could smell it, and see the dried coolant all over engine, I had to fill up tank twice, you could obnoxiously smell the coolant, yet two of their technicians said they couldn't smell anything(I do assume since one of them was smoking cigarettes their smell might have been numbed) nor could they find a leak after looking for an hour. Leaving there I felt like I was losing my mind. I stood there with the hood open smelling the coolant, yet they couldn't smell anything.... 1 day later the car overheats from no coolant. I'm appreciative they didnt charge me for the 1 hour they inspected the car, but I live far away and it was a hassle to go out twice, just to be told there was no issue, when there clearly was. Ended up driving 2.5 hours to closest dealership(Mobile, AL) and they fixed it within a few minutes....surprise...it was the exact intercooler clip I told the technician it most likely was that was causing the issue since it's a common problem on the car. Not sure I would trust them with the basic routine stuff either if this was over their heads. Coolant has a VERY obvious smell, and the fact they couldn't smell something that was basically punching me in the face, isn't okay. read more

No tire shop has behaved the way this pep boys Destin location has in my 35 years of driving. "Sarah" seems to think it's her life's mission to dictate to you what you need. I wanted 2 rear tires installed and she remarkable told me that they HAD to check my tread wear on the other two tires and tell me how many they would replace. They would only replace the two I wanted replaced if they approved of it. She never asked why I wanted two replaced or how many miles they had on them. She also went on to explain that only replacing two tires may cause transmission issues. Ludicrous! Really bad up charge sales job by "Sarah". Listen to your customers! I have been going to this location for years but can no longer trust them nor go. Last week they were to do a simple oil change and tire rotation. When we drove off the transmission was not working . We brought it back and they held our car hostage for 24 hours. We suspected they accidentally drained transmission fluid . THis is a 2 year car BTW. The new manager Greg would not get us a car rental nor admit to wrong doing. He came up with some story it needed a part from the subaru location. When we called Subaru they did not have the part in stock . Miraculously the car was repaired the next day ( Manager claiims he got the part from the Subaru dealer who did not have it) he also would not give me any paper work ? And said warranty covered . All suspicious as we are pretty sure they accidentally drained the transmission fluid but would not admit to their mistake. BTW a year ago they insisted my car was dangerous and needed new brakes and held it hostage for days and later admitted it did not need new brakes ? Visited this location almost 2 weeks ago after running some errands. Came straight from the store while out shopping to the repair shop because we were having car issues. After getting home we noticed something missing from our bag. Medical bag to say the least that we had just purchased. Not only did they go over the item with me but they scanned and put the item in the bag as I watched. The item was on the receipt and everything. We had gone straight home after getting this part fixed. No where before picking up my meds or after. After calling and talking to the assistant manager and general manger reporting the issue I was informed they would review the tapes to see what was going on, meanwhile telling me his people wouldn't do that. Well, I myself have ran businesses for years and even your most trusted people can make bad decisions and steal from you. After not hearing anything for over a week and a half I called and talked to the general manager Paul who insisted no one on his tenured staff would do that and that he saw nothing on the cameras and then continued to ask me why someone would steal something from Me. I also asked why it had been 1.5 weeks to call me back, almost like they were hoping the situation would go away or I wouldn't call back or want answers. He said he was "too busy"..... too busy to report back to a serious claim from a customer about their stolen meds????? Wow. A 20 second call was really too much for him. Did he ever really watch the cameras? I think there is cover up here because it's a fact that someone stole my prescription. If I wasn't 150 percent sure I wouldn't even be writing this review or calling and reporting it to higher ups, which I am. My name is on the prescription and now someone else has it in their possession. Its not ok and doesn't make me feel very safe knowing that. Do not go here. Not sure where the bad reviews come from here because I just had the best customer service experience I've ever had. I needed both my headlight bulbs replaced. They showed 2 in inventory but come to find out they only had 1. I asked if I could go buy some from autozone and Nick said they don't typically do that but since their system showed they had inventory he didn't mind it. It took nick 5 min to replace the bulbs and he didn't even charge me. I was shocked. I'll absolutely be coming back for any future issues. I was told they would have it fixed and ready the next morning. I showed up to get my tire in the morning and not only was it ready but i was told it repair was free because I had to wait overnight. We had a great experience with the Pep Boys! Our battery died when we went out for breakfast and after getting jumped off we went in search of a new one. We were so happy to find Peo Boys Open. They had a battery for our car and installed it very quickly for a good price. When we went to leave, all kinds of messages came up on the dashboard that let us know that something was wrong with the electrical system. The employees went above and beyond to fix the issues at no extra charge! We drove away MORE than satisfied with the results. Had a screw in the tire. Took my car in to get the tire patched. Next morning get a call that my tire can't be fixed because there's a puncture in the sidewall. When I told them I know where the puncture is, and that it's nowhere near the sidewall, they tell me there's two punctures. I tell them it's very unlikely there's two punctures in the same tire at the same time unless you drive over a box of screws. And I checked the tire very thoroughly myself before taking it in. Drove over there so they could show me sidewall puncture. They never did. Just handed me my keys back. It's clear they were just trying to sell me a new tire. Drove to another tire place where they fixed the tire just fine. read more

This will be my second review for this Pep Boys location in the past couple of years. My previous 3 star rating has gone to a 1 star rating. I brought my vehicle in for a new set of tires all the way around, but my confidence still remains low that they actually do "all" of the work they claim to have done. These new tires have only 16,000 miles on them, have been rotated religiously, yet still show significant wear on the inside treads from day one install indicating alignment issues. Was an alignment really done or did they just charge me for an alignment? Good question as I was not there to watch them do the work. I have just spent another couple hundred dollars to have my tires remounted, balanced and new alignment because of this, but upon reviewing my Pep Boys receipt to verify the mileage since the new tire purchase, noticed they charged me for a TPMS rebuild on each tire. Now, that is a crock and bogus charge because my vehicle doesn't have a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS)!!! If you must bring your vehicle here, watch their every move to ensure the work they claim is being accomplished and review that receipt for bogus charges they claimed to have done. As for me, Pep Boys won't be getting another chance with me! read more

I purchased two tires from Amazon to be installed by PEP BOYS. My rear tires were only two years old and had plenty of tread remaining. They were supposed to install the new tires on the rear and put the two rear tires on the front, instead they just put the new tires on the rear and left the worn tires on the front! I guess either its easier to not move the rear tires to the front and just replace them with the new tires. I am sure there is a market for good used tires, that's where my tires might be! It is unfortunate that I only discovered this a few weeks after PEP BOYS did this. Good luck dealing with this business! read more

Ordered 2 sets of premium tires ($3,400+) for 2 of our vehicles. Gave a credit card deposit of $2,016. Took 1st vehicle in for appointment, was told they were 30 minutes behind, I waited. One hour later they still hadn't started, said most of their employees had quit and not sure when they could get to it. I asked about the other set of tires ordered for an appointment set for tomorrow, was told they couldn't get the tires. I canceled everything and asked for a refund back to my credit card, was told they don't give credit card refunds, that they would send a request to Pennsylvania office and if it was approved they would mail a check. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I would highly recommend going to a different shop. 1 - made an appointment online for a 9:30 am oil change. Arrive at 9:27 am to be told that the online system doesn't communicate with their offline scheduling. I was asked if I could wait "a little bit". When I asked what "a little bit" meant to them they told me to come back at 1 pm. The manager overheard this and "changed the scheduling" to get me in at my reserved time 2 - I recently (less than 3 weeks prior) had my 100k mile service done on the car. I was only coming in for an oil change and oil filter given I just drove ~2.5k miles. After waiting for 45 min as they changed the oil, a representative came back to tell me that I also needed: an air filter change, brake fluid, transmission fluid, a valve gasket replacement, and my cv axle replaced. I declined these services several times (3+ times) before being able to pay for my oil change. 3 - arriving at home I decided to check all of those upsells they were trying to give me. My air filter is white like snow, the brake fluid is brand new and full, my transmission fluid is new and full, the valve gasket has a minor leak, and my cv axle is pristine. 4 - the cap for the coolant was taken off and not put back on properly. While checking the air filter the representative didn't put the top back on properly, bending the filter and not sealing the system 5 - while checking my car at home I noticed they spilled oil all over the front bumper as well. read more
