Noel, Mel, Matthew and everyone at this PepBoys really came through for me when I was in a tough spot! My car was having issues on a busy Saturday, and despite being packed with scheduled appointments and walk-in customers making urgent requests, they somehow managed to squeeze me in. The staff stayed remarkably calm and professional even with all the demands coming at them from every direction. The store had 5 walk in customers and 3 appointments come in while I was there, everyone including myself walked in with a problem hoping they fixed it, they all went out of their way to listen and actually care to help. Everybody from mechanics walking by when entering the shop to the service desk managers also all took the time to say hello when passing by after I checked in. What impressed me most was how they handled the hectic atmosphere - they gave every customer attention while efficiently taking care of everyone's car problems. Not only did they fix my issue, but they did it without making me feel like I was imposing, despite not having an appointment. They even gave me other recommendations showing proof of suggested work needed including picture's and descriptions, taking the time to also do while this while swamped with a busy store. This was hands-down the best service experience I've had at an auto shop. They turned what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth resolution. If you need car repairs, especially in a pinch, this is definitely the place to go. I walked out of here faster than dealerships I've had appointments at! Originally my husband and I got our car "fixed" at a pep boys in Philadelphia, which ended up making our car a lot worse a few days after. Took it to this pep boys and was out within 4 hours of them finding the problem and actually fixing our car this time. Mel was a really great help in getting us a great deal and walking me through the issues our car has been going through. Got off work at 12pm and drove by the garage The car was still parked in the same spot where I left it. After a short trip to get gas and back to work, my car wouldn't start. Called my service for a jump and the guy suggested to let it run and get battery checked. I called Pep Boys in Absecon and asked how long it would take to change battery. I was told about an hour. Upon arrival, my info was taken by a young man who was friendly and professional. He said we'll do a comprehensive check and won't replace battery unless you really need it. Within half hour, diagnostics were run and I was told it was most likely a glitch with the electronics because the alternator and battery were fine. They didn't charge me for the service. I did tip the tech. I found all the staff I encountered friendly and professional. read more

They just lost a loyal customer of 35 years. They quoted me 2,000 for various things & said my tires were dry rotted. Only problem I had with car was one knock on right side so took it somewhere else for a 2nd opinion. My tires were fine (except for one) and was quoted 509.00 to fix my car. This was the same the same day many got their Stimulus checks. I will NEVER go back to PepBoys again. Not even for an oil change as last one they were supposed to fill with windshield wiper fluid & wasn't a drop in it. VERY dissapointed. read more

Radio blasting your favorite tune, you feel the music pumping. You look around, lush greens and the open highway, your best buddy next to you in the car. You feel free as a bird, relaxed, your troubles melting away with each mile marker. Your ready to conquer the night, conquer that tricky poker table, the one with the sly dealer you met last trip. Your feeling Lucky! That favorite part of the song comes on, you and your buddy look at each other, smile, ready to belt it out together. You breath in, open your mouth..... And you hear a large pop noise, your car starts to jiggle and shimmy and swerve to the shoulder. YOUR TIRE BLOWS!! You gotta be kidding!!!!!!!!! You pull to the shoulder, get out, check your tire and you have a huge hole in it! HA! (Maybe you'll be luckier once you get to AC!) So what do you do? You immediately put the donut on and head to pep boys is what you do! I've only had good experiences with pep boys in the past, but this one really took the gold! We got to pep boys after already calling them and telling them the situation and car info. When we pulled in we were right away greeted by the manager and shop guys who were waiting for us in the garage, with a brand new tire ready to go! That is some service! The boys that work in the shop were eager to get to work and bantering back and fourth with us about what happened. They got right to it and were really focused and diligent in the task at hand. They definitely to knew what to do, with the manager standing by in the garage in case they needed help or any questions answered. I saw him in there instructing them a few little things here and there, which I though was great being hands on with your workers, rather then delegating and managing negatively after something goes wrong. Speaking of the manager, he was one of THE most helpful people I've delt with in a business such as this. He explained EVERYTHING to us. From what they were doing in the garage, to what kind of tire he gave us and why it was the best choice, to making sure we got the best price, even about the store and the area. He was a great guy that we really enjoyed meeting. The garage itself was immaculate. I don't think I've ever seen one so clean. Not an oil stain on the floor, everything very neat. The store inside was very comfortable for your wait. Free wifi for the internet provided, Charging stations, a big tv with the remote left there so you could change it on your own, and a coffee maker. Clean. All clean! Bathrooms, spotless. The store is kept really nice, the customer service was top notch, the workers were really great, and the manager delightful. I knew my rear brakes were bad right side just starting grinding noise. Made an appt the day before for a 2 PM next day FREE brake inspection. Got there early and they took my car in at 3:15? Told the guy the problem and I DONT HAVE MUCH MONEY just a couple hundred so dont waste my time. While they were doing the free BRAKE inspection I noticed the hood was up. Call me crazy but the brakes are on the rear wheels. An hour later they tell me total repair is $1,200! SCAM ARTISTS. They also informed me of other issues and my wiper blades were streaking. WHAAAAT? I asked why the hood was up and they tell me it was a courtesy all vehicle inspection. In another words, let's look at everything and try to scam him out of more money letting him know about this and that hoping this fish will bite the hook. This fish didn't. I laughed at them. What a total scam! Just check the brakes. That's all. Unbelievable these guys. Don't waste your time going here. A+ #1 SCAM. Employees are rude and snotty and especially the one guy P&#*% who I will not call by name but he knows who he is. $1,200 for rear brake repair. Not ALL the brakes, just rear. Wow. Had a car in for diagnostics on those annoying lights and codes that come up on the dash. Anyway the service light and several others came on in the dash. Very nice Teck put tester on car and he said the code was indicating an air sensor that controls emissions. Not really a tough job to do but given location and my real disdain of the cold I opted for them to do the job, Had to order in part from another store so we put it off for a day or two. Got a relatively high estimate and the price of the part really struck me as high. Found the same part off the shelf in the store was about half the price. I called it to their attention and the price was reduced with no problem. I take care of three cars for me, wife and daughter and I now buy tires here when on sale - By Three and Get One Free. BUY the insurance if you live in an area like we do where nails on the road are a problem. Has save me many times fixing a tire. Also will rotate tires for free with Warranty. I contacted Pep Boys in Absecon for a screw stuck in my tire that needed a simple plug. After waiting for close to an hour I was told that the screw could not be taken out and plugged due to it's location. I knew better because this has happened to me before and I knew it was a 10 min fix if that with the right equipment. One of the lying managers came out and said not only was the screw in a location that was unfixable but I needed a new tire and would have to purchase all 4 so they would match. Anyone who knows anything about tires knows that's not true for an old used vehicle. The tire just needs to be the correct size to match whatever you have. Anyway, I went up the street to my guy at Repose in Pleasantville who fixed the unfixable screw in the tire in less than 5 mins. PepBoys is a joke and I would never trust anyone from that location ever. read more

This pep boys location has great service. They patched up my tire for $13. Another place very close was going to charge me $43. The service was great from the phone call all the way up until I left the store with my newly patched tire. Not only did they patch up my tire but also took the donut off my car put the patched tire back on the car and even screwed the donut back into where it is kept in my trunk. I Couldn't have been happier which is great since the day didn't start off too promising. Will definitely go back for any future tire problems. read more

If I could give this place a lower ranking, I would. I went there twice for two major incidents with my car. The first incident was when my engine light turned on, I went there to see what could be wrong. After a few hours they told me that it was my catalytic converter was clogged and needed to be replaced for $2000. I couldn't afford that being a college student, so I had a mini panic attack and went to another place to get a second opinion. Turns out my catalytic converter was fine, the reason my engine light turned on was because a hose that pushes oxygen through my catalytic converter was loose and that's why my light turned on (forgive my lack of proper terminology). Ever since we tighten that hose, the light never turned back on and that occurred two months ago. The second incident was recently earlier this week. My windshield wipers stopped working randomly, so I decided to give pepboys one more shot, they looked at it for 2 hours and told me it was the windshield wiper motor, and it needed to be replaced entirely. That was going to be $900...when I refused to schedule the appointment to get it fixed the desk guy tried telling me that my car's windshield motor was extremely rare and barely any left in the country. I went to get a second opinion and turns out my motor was fine! And to conclude was only an $18 dollar fix. This place takes advantage of people, and I've talked to other college students in the area who have gone here, and their stories are similar to mine. Just be careful. read more

I had an issue with one of my tires and tried to do the repair myself. But I wasn't capable of getting it done right, so I took my car over to Pep Boys. I have a 2009 VW EOS and the tire sensor was shot and it turned out that the tire was shot too, so the guys at Pep Boys told me that the tire and sensor would require a replacement. The replacement happened, but the instrument panel was still indicating that there was low air pressure. I didn't have much time to hang around so I told the guys at Pep Boys that I would try to figure it out and the guy at the front desk said that if I could not get it to work that I can bring it back and they would fix it. I drove around for a month and the low air pressure sensor never righted or corrected itself so I took it back to Pep Boys. They replaced the sensor stating that it was faulty and they made every effort to get the instrument panel light to recognize that the new sensor was doing the job, but the light stayed on. They apologized to me and told me that they had tried everything to get the low pressure light to go off, but it just wasn't happening. I told them that I would reach out to Volkswagen and see if they could shed some light on it. As I drove back home the low pressure light went off once I got up to 50 mph. They were very conscientious in their work ethic and earnestly apologetic that the problem was not resolved. Once I got home I called them and let them know that the light went off and thanked them again. They have a very friendly and courteous staff. I will continue to take my car to this Pep Boys. read more

I was traveling from Connecticut to Washington, DC on the Garden State and my front end of my car started vibrating and making an unusual noise. It was a Thursday 5 PM so I was concerned about finding a mechanic available. I got off the next exit at Absecon, NJ and found Pep Boys. They could not look at it until Saturday AM, so we had to stay overnight. Mike Orland, the store manager of service told me they will look at as soon as they can, but they were booked solid. I asked him to please try to expedite it as I needed to get to Washington. At 9:30 the next morning, I got a call from him to say the problem was the left front lug nuts has backed off and the lug holes were no longer round, but now oval which is causing the problem. They called around to find a new rim, but as it was a 20" Aluminum rim it would not be available for 4 days. A steel rim was never made to fit. They put my donut spare on, warned me to go slow home. I asked them how much I owned them and was told no charge. Here I was a stranger, who probably will never need them again as I live 180 miles away. Their dedication to Pep Boys reputation and customer service has created a new customer for life and I recommend Pep Boys whenever I can. Thank You Mike and staff! read more

After two hours of waiting, they had just finished the balance and rotation! Appeared to have only one mechanic and way too much workload to be able to meet any time commitment. DONT GO HERE!!!!*** I REPEAT DONT GO HERE*** I Took my car here for a simple new rear tire. Let me begin by saying they "mistakenly "over charged me then offered me a oil change, instead of a refund!! This was 2 mins after a mistake they made! So I go to leave and I hear a noise in the front passenger side...like a loose shaking noise & my car dash had been switched to "trip"??!! Like wth... I was so reluctant to bring my car there for a simple tire change because of the past issues, that not only I had, but a lot of people I know experienced with them! I thought...like its noo way they can, mess up something soo simple! I leave and I get not even 2 lights down and I hear this noise! It was something I had never heard. before. I immediately go back and ask why would anyone mess with anything other than my rear tire. I was very so upset because for once I wanted to have a good experience. The acting manager showed me tape of the mechanic checking the car, then putting it on the lift and going to the front passenger side at least 4-5 times!!!! We couldn't see what he was doing because the camera is on the drivers side view. With that being said the manager expressed that he was doing a check and that all the shake downs and stuff he kept doing was a courtesy to see what was going on because he could hear it!!! Mind you there was no noise but there was one when I left and that the honest truth! Messing with things (shaking pulling, pushing twisting) in areas other that what I authorized to be looked at s not a favor to me!! If i want a diagnostics for what a noise it then I would request one!!!!!! Dont go poking around for reasons for me to come back because .....it does the opposite Make People NEVER come back!!
