First bowling experience here today! I had fun and the lady that was there was friendly. I can't really compare this with anything because I haven't been anywhere else but I enjoyed it. Boyfriend said it is a bit smaller than the usual place he goes to though. There are 6 lanes there and a group when we walked in so we were lucky we didn't have to make reservations. It did clear out by the time we were half way through though.

Very helpful neon sign pointing the way. (Just off Broad street, through the garden, down the stairs!)

I've been to PEP Bowl three times now, and every time I'm here I have a great time. Bring some beer and friends and I'm sure you will too. Where else can you do BYO bowling? Nowhere. It's not an expensive bowling alley to begin with, but be able to bring your own beer/wine makes it even more of a deal. PEP Bowl is super small--only 6 lanes total. So make sure you call ahead and make reservations. Not too tricky to get, but do it a couple days in advance to make sure you get the day/time you want. You can apparently put up to 14 people on one lane (?!), so it's great for large groups and parties, but smaller groups have fun too! :)

BYOB and BYO snacks! SO much better than Lucky Strike! There are only 6 lanes but I went on a Tuesday night from 9-11pm so only 4 were in use that night. This is how bowling should be. My group paid $50 for 2 hours (shoe rental included) and we brought along some cheap beer and snacks. It's a great play to just hang out with friends and bowl. I highly recommend!

We had an outing for our staff here and it was a fun way to spend the evening. Like others have said, the appeal of this place is that's BYOB and food and you can rent out the whole bowling alley for your group. After a series of sketchy SEPTA transfers to get here, I was pretty weirded out by the shady entrance down a dirty flight of stairs into the basement bowling alley, but the venue itself was pretty decent and clean, although small. There's only 4 lanes, but that should be sufficient for most parties. The staff was cheerful and helpful, quickly providing everyone with rental shoes and setting up our music and tables for our food before staying out of the way of our party. We had the site for a couple hours and it was so nice to have our own private space to hang out and play a few games. An enjoyable, different way to spend the evening in the city, and a great place to get a small group together. I'd recommend this place for a birthday party or group outing for sure.

It's also BYOB and food so the cost was unbelievably inexpensive to rent out a few lanes for a couple of hours.

I initially had a photo of my valid driver's license, but when that wasn't accepted, I went back home (about 15 minutes away) to get another form of ID. Before doing that, I called the venue to make sure I brought something acceptable. I was told that a birth certificate would be fine as long as it showed my date of birth. Trusting that information, I rushed back with it so I wouldn't miss the show. When I returned, security told me it was not acceptable. Trying to resolve the situation, I called the venue again while I was there, and the person who answered told me they had not spoken to me and that a birth certificate is not accepted. When I asked if they could check or connect me with the person I had spoken to earlier, I was told no. At that point, there was nothing else I could do, and I ended up missing the event entirely despite making multiple good-faith efforts to comply. I also want to note that I did have other forms of ID I could have looked for, like my passport, but I relied on the information I was given over the phone and acted on that. To make things feel even more inconsistent, someone I was with who got inside told me a 16-year-old was able to enter, and I later saw a related post on TikTok. I can't personally verify that, but it added to the overall sense of unfairness. Overall, this felt like a serious breakdown in communication that cost me time, money, and the experience I paid for. I hope the venue can improve how staff communicate with guests so others don't go through something similar.

The staff were all friendly. The bar was big and the drinks were tasty. They had a bunch of different options for sizes for the balls and the shoes so no one had an excuse not to play :)

However the food is NOT worth a dime. I'm a foodie so that's important to me. My sister and I took my brother here for his bday and we spent over $300, how do you even spend that while bowling? I ordered two orders of the wings, two pizzas which taste like cardboard and an order of chicken tenders and tatter tots, it was like 9 tots, along with drinks(4 sodas) only three adult beverages...$268 like how???? Our server kept forgetting stuff like naps and straws, at one point I actually went to the bar to get napkins because I didn't want to feel like I was bothering her. Would I go back, of course, just don't eat anything from there unless you are desperate. Very clean and spacious. I will recommend if you go with a large group reserve two lanes.

Our visit started with a nice greeting and excellent communication from managers Yady and Arturo, and continued with professional and efficient service from bowling shoe attendants Marco and Lynna, bartender Jackie and server Olivia. The students loved the mac and cheese and sliders of course, but nothing was better than the chicken nuggets! Being located upstairs and off by ourselves was aHUGE help in keeping them all ion one place with no interaction with the other, older visitors downstairs, so thanks for that! Finally, I would like to note as we prepared to leave I saw Manager Arturo dash past our group and out the front door and I figured maybe his car was being ticketed....only to find out he had run ahead of us to help the students cross the intersection of Swanson Street and Oregon Avenue. It's things like this that endear me to a tour venue!

Lanes were not cheap and are very limited because more than 75% of the lanes are being repaired. They were even working on them on a Saturday night which was a little distractive while trying to focus on getting your ball down the lane. The lanes were unique and that the pins odd strings on them and that's how the pins were reset. My least favorite thing about the bowling alley was that when the balls were returned, they came at a high speed and if your fingers were in the wrong place or you were trying to get a ball at that time, you could really injure your fingers getting them pinched between balls. I included a video of how quickly the ball sneaks up and how concerning this would be especially if a child was playing. During our game, we ordered food and non alcoholic drink drinks from the bar. This is a BYOB so you can bring whatever you want to drink and they do have some mixers that you can buy if you don't bring your own. The food didn't get great reviews. There was one bartender and unfortunately she wasn't there about 50% of the time. There were often periods of time no one was behind the bar for periods long enough that I had to return for my turn to bowl. The video games are expensive. I bought a $20 card and was shocked to see how quickly it ran through. I personally didn't opt for the glow mini mini golf but that did look fun. My favorite activity was the bumper cars. Be warned, some of them do fully invert! I feel like Dave and Busters at Franklin Mills provides a better bowling arcade interaction and has better food and bar services. This place really felt designed to cater to children rather than adults and children. I didn't have a bad time but I would probably not return to this location.
