The material was a little milder and the laughs were there, but I can't say it had the gut-busting moments like the old days. The show had a full lineup. Opening acts included R&B performances from Lady of Rage and Lil' Mo, plus comedians Mark Curry, Tommy Davidson, Melanie Camacho, Red Grant, Zoo Man, and Corey B. The only downside? Folks in my section were constantly getting up for something -- up, down, up, down all night -- which made it hard to stay focused on the stage. Still, it was an enjoyable night of laughs overall. And a little bonus... I found a free parking meter several blocks away, so I didn't have to pay for parking. Always a win. read more

This is a great venue for seeing a concert. It's a large older arena style venue with no obstructed views that I could see. They house concerts and sporting events too. Several good bars and food kiosks inside as well. This is on my list as a return place if there's more concerts coming up that I like. Also, it's connected to parking and a hotel via a skywalk so you never have to walk outside! read more

Great Place for a Concert ----- ----- July, 2022 Visit Our daughter discovered the band Greta Van Fleet early summer, 2022, and quickly found that they would be playing in Peoria, IL, and she recommended a road trip. We had a great time, thanks in part to the home of the Peoria Rivermen, the Peoria Civic Center. The concert was in the hockey arena part of the Civic Center. The staff had a good setup that helped people get in without waiting in line... a big room with amusement park-like lines going back and forth... we were a bit late... missed the first opening band, so perhaps that is why... we didn't stop to stand still at all as we wove through those lines... we just walked at a good pace and were inside. The show was general admission on the floor, where the hockey ice would be for a game and... no seats... awesome... concerts are meant for singing and dancing and chairs get in the way... thank you for no chairs, Peoria Civic Center! Drove 3.5 to see a show at the Civic Center. Extremely disappointed with their women's purse rule. The rule indicates a 5x8 see through bag, but while waiting to park i saw women going in with much bigger bags non that were see through. Apparently the Covic center profiles because when we got in to show our tickets i was immediately turned away until i took my purse to our car, BUT other women were going through without any problems. First of all I pull into the parking lot gate to pay 20 bucks to park(ridiculous greed) and am informed that no cash transactions will be allowed, credit or debit card only. Okay so out comes the card and as I am atte.pting to use to I'll placed card reader the 80 year old attendant grabs my card out of my hand , so I easily snatch it back and with respect to the old guy say that I can handle this so please don't do that ,about the time I was done talking he leaned on my door that was open almost as to pin my arm and grabbed my card again. I didn't want trouble so I backed off but had a few words for this former bully that he apparently didn't care for. So I park and try to blow the whole thing off. Get inside and my guest and I wanted to buy from the vendors. There were these black banners on fra.es with logos or advertisements strung along what appeared to be to give you a direction. They had gaps and didn't understand what they were there for sor we went to go through to get shirts or whatever and this obnoxious security jerk confronts me,not us but singles me out. He says you can't come in here that's strike two, one more word out of your mouth and I'll have you thrown out. We have you on video in the parking lot.Total asshole that in public would not have spoken to me like that I would bet. Coward power hungry jerk type. So I decided to let it go and attempt to have a good time. Not this jerk. Most of security was focused on me yet they employ the first two morons I come in contact with and I was completely amazed at their actions and reaction. When I went through the metal detector it was silent but I was immediately singled out for no good reason stopped and heard from behind me ....Stop that man and wand him. That's customer service at it lowest level folks . Then the concert was terrible , the sound system needs to be looked at .Couldn't make out any of the lyrics Dylan grunted into the microphone on stage . People were growling about the bad sound and leaving in a steady stream the entire time. That's an all time low for concert venues. And ticket master popped us for 350 a chair. What an absolute waste of time and money. I'm not so much upset with the rude people. I'm sure they deal with bad people all the time although two of them need to be talked to a out their actions and reactions when dealing with customers, I would have fired both on the spot. Other than those two jerks everyone else was nice and polite and helpful as they all should have been. Dylan needs to retire because he just has no voice left to share. We bought first row tickets to a concert. Knew there was "orchestra pit" seating in front, but didn't think that would be a problem because orchestra pits are at a lower level...right? Nope. Their "pit" is actually elevated above the main theater seats. So we got an awesome view of the back of the heads of the people in front of us instead of Aaron Lewis all evening. And they refuse to consider a refund of any kind. Very deceptive. read more

I love this place. Even with big event shows you can still find parking easily.... either in the garage across the street, in the big lot, or somewhere near by on the street. Over the years, even back in college, I've seen more shows & events here than I can remember. Everything from finishing a marathon here, watching Bradley games, concerts, symphonies, Jeff Dunham to Shen Yun, and most recently The Lion King. The tickets always seem way more reasonable for how close you can get to the stage than at any other venue in a like-sized city. The place is spacious so there's really never a long line and they always have snacks and drinks for purchase. I've just purchased tix for Bob Seger and I'm just glad he's playing here. read more

Every bathroom from top to bottom that we used had missing doors and smelled disgusting. They had a rule put in place you couldn't bring in a purse bigger than a passport. Which was made worse when we got walked all the way to the other side of PCC and THEN told (why didn't they say it when we entered and went through the first security I have no idea) This caused us to miss the beginning of the show that we purchased tickets for. Many other patrons were also in the same predicament and the staff were not apologetic about it. In fact, they tried to justify their lack of communication stating "PC says its on the ticket" it was not on my digital ticket anywhere, which I showed them but of course they had no answer to that. It would have been better if they had handled a few things differently including their attitudes. Ex. Ensure that info is on all ticket types (incl digital), apologize for the inconvenience, communicated as soon as we entered, put the bag rule on the entrance doors with a design that will draw eyes to it. Once getting in the theater there was no usher to direct us (I'm not from Peoria and had only been to the theatre once years ago). At least the show was good...once we were able to get in but the venue and staff could use some work. read more

We attended a Rivermen game on 2/8/22. My son's team was recognized and everything was great. The kids had so much fun. I definitely wanted to thank the concessions staff for making super soft fries for my kiddo who had just gotten his tonsils out earlier in the week. You absolutely made his night. Came with a 2 hockey teams we played on the ice.the place was spotless and the staff was accommodating and attentive to our needs as well as friendly and professional.made our time on the ice a memorable one besides winning. also we stayed that night for the rivermen game all of the staff was great then too from security to ushers even the concessions people where very nice and accommodating the prices where not to bad for what you got 10 bucks for a huge nacho with double cheese and a drink lots of options too my only complaint us the seating is very very tight my knees where almost hitting the guys back in front of me and other than that the bathrooms where clean the layout and location easy to navigate good times read more

This was my first time at the Civic Center, this is a huge space and very open and easy to maneuver around. If I got lost the lady at the information desk was extremely helpful. She gave me great restaurant places and directions so I would not get lost. This is a tip, bring a jacket the air conditioner works really good in the building. read more

My girlfriend and I visited the Peoria Civic Center to see the Avenged Sevenfold concert with Breaking Benjamin and Bullet for my Valentine. For the most part the place was pretty nice, but there were a few issues. The first one I ran into was the vendors. Not even half an hour into the event and most of them were out of most food choices. The second one I found was in the seating. They're really cheap. You move one and the entire row moves, it's cheap plastic that is extremely uncomfortable. Other than that, I enjoyed the visit. Everything was clean (given the circumstance), and the staff was really nice. The bands killed it too!!! read more

If I could give this 0 stars, I would! Venue was beautiful BUT the security is a joke. I just went to a concert there and was threatened, assaulted, and physically picked up and thrown by a guy 3X my size. I immediately went up to security and tried to get help. One security guard stood there and didn't say a word and the other just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Today, I'm so sore and have bruises on my arms where this guy grabbed me. What an unsafe place to be. If you need help, call the police because security WILL NOT help you! read more

The Civic Center is actually a pretty great venue. I go to hockey games there, concerts, and comedy shows, and have always had a stress-free time. Some great acts come to Peoria and on the list of shows I've seen include: Ralphie May, Jerry Seinfeld, Rascal Flatts, BB King, and numerous Rivermen games. The parking is also extremely easy..we just park in business lot and on occasion have to pay if it is a big event, however, with hockey games, we never have to. I can't complain! read more

The Peoria Civic Center has it's place in the backdrop of my youth. I have attended countless Bradley basketball, Rivermen, and IHSA basketball games here. I have gone to the auto show, concerts, and conventions here as well. I can't imagine my hometown without the Civic Center. Growing up I thought the Civic Center was one of the greatest places you could go, but now that I have grown up and moved to bigger cities, I see more of the Civic Center's flaws. This facility is about 30 years old and it feels dated, especially Carver Arena. The comcourses are narrow and dimly lit. The actual arena feels a bit cold and unwelcoming, and on my last visit the audio system didn't sound the greatest either. Food prices are very reasonable, and parking is very easy. It also appeared as if there has been an attempt to install a few luxury suites. I wonder what the future holds for this facility. Peoria cannot afford to sustain a new facility so improvements will have to be made to this one. How easy is it to renovate and/or expand an arena? I hope for the best for the Civic Center for Peoria's sake, but I am afraid that the day may come where performing acts, and athletic events skip Peoria for more modern facilities. read more

I went to the Peoria Civic Center for a concert that was performed by the Peoria Orchestra. The acoustics are really nice. In my opinion, there isn't a bad seat for listening to the orchestra. I had a student discount, so my ticket wasn't that much. The price for regular adult tickets is a little steep. It ranges from $28 to the expensive box seats. I would suggest getting there early because they have to manually enter card numbers in the system. It took about 10 minutes for my friend and I to get our tickets. They have a small selection of alcohol such as wine, beer, and some different spirits. They also have coffee, water, and soda. You can even take your drink into the theatre which I thought was a nice touch. read more

I've come here for multiple events... career fairs, hockey games, and church. The layout of their auditoriums or conference centers are just huge rooms with slabs of concrete on the bottom. It can be a bit chilly at times but it's very spacious. Surprisingly their bathrooms are very clean and they take care of them well. The parking situation isn't bad as long as it's a weekend. Otherwise, during special events, it can be a pain to park and it can be expensive. The hockey games are very low key (nothing compared to NHL games) and they don't do much fan promotional stuff. It's a minor league hockey team so curb your expectations when going there. The ice arena was chilly as expected and the seats weren't too comfortable but it's a nice place to go talk to someone and watch an event. The upper area was where church service was held and it was very spacious and had fancier chairs. I don't know if Peoria Civic Center provided those but they were definitely comfortable. The acoustics worked well in the upper conference rooms. It wouldn't be a bad place to hold meetings as they do have room dividers to segment the room into smaller rooms. Overall, it's not a bad facility. It's not my first choice (as I'd take the Embassy Suites in East Peoria first) but if price is an issue, this might be a better choice. read more

I'd like to give Peoria Civic Center zero stars, but it doesn't appear to be an option. Paid $105 for a ticket to a James Taylor concert (James was wonderful). Arrived well ahead of the concert's 8pm start time. The center had concertgoers outside in a single-file line awaiting admittance. The line wrapped around a quad and then also around the Civic Center. By the time we got to our seats, it was 8:26pm. Remember, we got here well ahead of time. The kicker was that after standing in their ridiculous line, we entered the venue to learn that they'd gone ahead and started the concert on time. I'd like - at minimum - a 25% refund for myself and each member of my party for the portion of the concert that was missed due to PCC's ineptness. read more

So the trip down to Peoria was an interesting one for me and Jess. Full of various events that made us wish we had never agreed to drive the 3.5 hr drive down to the middle of nowhere. When we arrived to the Civic Center there were mass amounts of people everywhere which seemed pretty normal for a rock show at an area, until we realized the Civic Center is probably the only means of entertainment for city. We followed the signs that said Box Office to pick up our tickets and press pass. I don't know how big this place really is but the "arena" like room where we thought we would be in had kids hockey. So needless to say we were at the wrong box office from the start. After waiting in line and making our way through the sea of people waiting for their game to start we finally found where we needed to be. I will never know how box offices run their shit but all I know is it really pisses me off when shit doesn't flow as it should. We give our name, say we need 2 tickets, photo and video pass. Well the girl at the window gave us our photo pass but no tickets and no video pass. What good is a photo pass without tickets!?!? How does the box office not have the means to print tickets and how does the Production Manager not have this shit ready when the Box Office OPENS!?!?! We were told tickets would be ready at 6:30. Fine, that will give us enough time to get in, assemble the camera and get in the pit. No problem right? WRONG AGAIN! The Opening of The Doors Dilemma: From what we were told and what was on the web the show was to start at 6:45. Normal venues would open their doors at 6:00 if not a bit earlier. Not Peoria! They opened the doors at 6:30. At first we were like oh maybe they are gonna start a little later. Nope. 6:45 on the dot the first band starts and here we are outside at the box office still waiting for our tickets. Nice! Finally the girl we first talked to went to get all the will call tickets for those of us still waiting. Thanks buddy you were a big help! Peoria's Finest: So we get in line to head in. Not being familiar with this venue I show the security guard my press pass and ask which side of the stage do I go for my photo pass. He looks at me with that deer in the headlights look and says "You should have taken care of that already." Really? Whatever. So I give the lady my ticket to scan and he stops me asking what's in my bag. Seriously!? So he has me open my bag and asks what everything is. Security Guard: "Is that camera equipment?" Me thinking YES YOU STUPID FUCK! I just showed you my photo pass. Me:"Yes. Do you want me to take it all out?" Security Guard: "No you're fine, did she scan your ticket?" Me: "Yes Sir" To be honest with you I have NEVER had my bag checked before. I show the nice people at the door my pass and they flag me through. They usually even tell me where I need to be and any other rules that may apply to the nights show. Not so much in Peoria. Hall A So we walk in and right away you see merch tables. The more we walked in the more I felt like I was in High School all over again. The name of the room was Hall A which felt like a HS gym minus the bleachers. It was just a long hallway-esk room, no seating just general admission. It was definitely the oddest room I have ever seen a professional live show in. It was like being in someone's basement at a house party. I don't know how small of a town Peoria is but it seemed like everyone knew everyone here. Apparently this was the place to be that night. And one other thing I would like to point out about the people was the way a good majority of them were dressed. Now when I go to a concert I dress comfy. You know jeans, good gym shoes, t-shirt. Not Peorian's. They got all gussied up like they were going to the club. Weird..... Parking: Sadly I don't have anything good to say about Peoria or the Civic Center except for this. The parking was fantastic! Right across the street from the venue is a parking garage for only $5. This was awesome. Maybe it's cause we are from Chicago and never pay $5 for anything, but their rates were spectacular! 75 cents per half hour, 6am-6pm only $6, this is a steal! I wonder what a normal base pay is here. Maybe $5 is a lot for them? Anyway. My time spent in Peoria was a memorable one and I think it's obvious to say I will not be covering any other shows here in the future. Although I really did like seeing Puddle Of Mudd, next time I will wait to see them closer to home. read more

I had a terrible experience on Sunday, December 8th, 2019, at the Peoria Civic Center due to a careless usher. My wife and I purchased tickets to see the Five Finger Death Punch Show and were assigned seats 21a row 11 seats 7 and 8. We arrived before the first opening band even came on stage and thought we had found our proper seats (there were no ushers at the stairs to point us in the right direction, and 21B is not listed on the wall so we saw 21A and walked up and found row 11 and seats 7 and 8. After the first two bands had played and 3 Days Grace came on stage, one of the ushers started flashing a flashlight at me and I didn't understand why. he then came around where there were several empty seats next to us and it was completely dark at that time since the band had started playing. He informed me that I was sitting in somebody else's seat and had brought this group of people into the isle and completely blocked me from exiting the isle. I also turned on my phone before moving to find what my tickets showed to ask the usher where my seats were. He very rudely told me that I could not stand there, those people wanted to sit in the seats they paid for. I told him that I also paid for seats and needed assistance finding them since we were confused as nobody helped us find the seats. He then said if I didn't exit the row we would be removed as I was trying to bring up my tickets on my phone. Since he brought all 5 of these people in to the row in complete darkness blocking our path to the isle, I had to try to walk around them to get to the isle and the usher rushed used his flashlight to get himself around the people and left us in the dark to find our way around these people to get to the isle so we would not be kick out for sitting in the wrong seats even though 21B is not labeled on the wall anywhere and we thought we were in our correct seats. I am disabled, and have trouble walking, and when I tried to exit the row I ended up falling into the isle and rolling down several of the cement steps. I landed on my shoulder and I just had surgery on it in September and have another surgery to get it repaired again on December 16th, next Monday. Why did this usher/security person not tell these people to wait in the isle while he explained the mixup to me, allow me and my wife to exit the row with the aid of his flashlight, and then let me show him on my phone my stubhub ticket numbers since this other group showed up 2 hours late to the show and it was completely dark. That would have made sense to make sure people were safe from injury. Instead, this usher brought the people into the row, turned around and walked off with his flashlight and left us to fend for ourselves in complete darkness to walk around all of these people standing in the row where we were sitting. Once I fell down the stairs I somebody sitting in an aisle seat a few rows down grabbed my leg and hand and stopped me from rolling further and possibly going over the edge. At that point in time the usher/security person was nowhere to be found. I sat in the middle of the stairs waiting for the usher to come back and he finally did and I showed him my phone and it turned out we were just on the wrong side of the isle. I sat in severe pain through the rest of the show as I mainly came to see 5FDP and I was not going to leave without seeing them after coming all the way from Chicago. The usher/security person/blue shirt was extremely rude, inconsiderate of our safety, and I ended up spending the entire night in the local hospital getting CT scans, xrays, and my back is still completely out of whack today, several days later along with a sprained shoulder. Our seats were literally on the other side of the aisle and we did not know since there was no lable on that section. The usher person needs to be trained on common sense safety in an environment with steep stairs and complete darkness. Where were the ushers when we arrived to tell us where our seats were? Why did he wait until the lights went off to come into the row with 5 or six people when he could have asked them to wait in the aisle so we could exit from the seats that we thought were ours? Why did he have to threaten me? Once we found our correct seats, they were actually better seats than were sitting in and he could have helped us find them rather than helping the people that showed up 2 hours late in the dark and then refuse to help us, even after I fell and injured myself due to his incompetence? Completely ruined the show, our weekend, ended up in the hospital all night after paying $150 for a hotel for that evening since we are from out of town, and I am still in severe pain in my spine, ribs, and a sprained shoulder.Please train your ushers on how to handle people safely in the dark and how to assist people in a proper way. This show wasn't even sold out, there were open seats all over those late people could have sat in. read more

Absolutely worst place to ever and I mean EVER have a wedding or wedding reception. Staff is 100% useless and lazy, everything was suppose to be set up for us and nothing was the caterers we're running late and even for all our meetings with the caterer manager she was 20-30 minutes late for a scheduled meeting every time. We should have known then that they were not gonna be fit to make sure we had a good stress free reception. In fact it was the opposite I've never had so much stress. By the end of the night I just wanted to flip out but I had to keep my cool. Bartender was pouring out our kegs down the drain so she could leave early, caterers food and drinks were wrong. They didn't give us the ushers they promised or the five bottles of wine, they didn't even have the right beer we ordered for our kegs, the staff was 100% lazy and did not care about shutting down our reception at 8:30 when we paid for it until 1am. I'll never step foot in the civic center again for everything. Amy and carol cook are jokes. The whole staff was a joke, I can't even describe how bad it was without my blood boiling and causing me stress. I do not ever recommend going here. There is better places around Peoria don't stoop low enough to waste your time here like we did.. read more

I am a life-long Peorian, and the Civic Center has always been a regular destination for shows, concerts, local fundraisers, and community events. I've been a season ticket holder for the Broadway Theatre Series, and have enjoyed a wide variety of performances from blockbusters like WICKED and BOOK OF MORMON, to children's shows with busloads of happy kids, to the wonderful Peoria Symphony Orchestra. I've put together groups of ticket orders for several performances, and what could have been a nightmare keeping all the orders straight and collecting ticket money was one of the most pleasant, even hilarious experiences I've had with their staff!
