Theres also a fish and meat market area in the back as well as ready made Filipino food/snacks. It gets crowded on weekend mornings but so worth it in my opinion! It's just extremely congested and sometimes too busy inside. Cleanliness can be an issue for some but for the most part I'm buying vegetables and fruit and that's enough for me. I used to take my knives to be sharpened in this area but this review is just for the vendors I shopped at. I needed papaya, fresh vegetables and fruits. I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. Nearby outside there's Kamehameha bakery, sugoi'a and other eateries. Nearby is Costco and Costco gas and Home Depot so you can't go wrong.

So many great vendors on both sides of the street. I always go get the green juice, the handmade Chinese noodles are great, and I love the Almond tree toffee. This time I did try the loaded hash browns from a certain stand where I can't remember the name, but it was in the middle. They were amazing and probably the best hash browns I've ever had - crispy on the outside and hot on the inside. My son ended up eating the whole thing! Vermilli is a small booth that sells clothing and I always end up buying something from there. The woman who owns it has been there every time, and I love her designs. Such a great place to shop local and they always have someone playing music!

One of my fondest childhood memories is going to Tamashiro Market with my dad…read more When we lived in Kalihi, this was our usual spot. And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed. Thank you, Tamashiro, for providing quality food and memories for so many years. You were more than a market--you were part of my childhood

I used to limit my spending to $10 while shopping for dinner for my wife and I. There will be a lot of things I will miss in the future of Kekaulike Market. I stop by Chow's Seafood and Meat Market to buy Chinese fishcake which is one of the only stalls that sell it now. The stall. might not look like the most sterile place to shop but the fishcake is very good. The fishcake is a raw paste that you could use in any number of dishes. It sells for about $8 a pound but it stretches the budget and you get a lot of fishcake dumplings in one pound.

Located on Kekaulike Street - between King Street and Hotel Street - Kekaulike Market is one of the "go to" places for fresh produce and fresh meats and seafood. Today, I was looking for a pineapple for my mom, but, unfortunately, didn't find any. However, I did see items such as locally caught fish packed in ice, clean chicken feet in refrigerated cases, and tables full of colorful vegetables and fruits! The variety is overwhelming! There are many vendors inside of the air conditioned market and even more stalls right outside the market's doors - all along the wall! Just take your time and compare prices. Bring tote bags ...and cash for better bargaining power! Remember that metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're early, you can get free parking on King Street. If not, the municipal parking lots have reasonable parking rates.

They have a big selection of grocery items from Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thai and more. The main ones they import from are the ones I mentioned. There's also a huge selection of fresh and pre dried vegan and vegetarian meat (fully vegan) and tofu from Taiwan, Vietnam and Aloha Tofu (Hawaii local fresh tofu). There's only 2 places on the island that I know of that you can get these vegan Asian meats, which is so delicious, healthy with nature soy,m fibers, and has far less sodium and preservatives than the American beyond meat veg options. (Though I enjoy those to make western dishes from time to time) The customer service here is very nice. Okay, I've only been here technically once, but I have to say:…read more The first time I went here and got Thai food. The pumpkin curry bowl with sticky rice and the pork skewers are AMAZING. The second time, my boyfriend got produce from vendors bring home ingredients to make pico de gallo, and it was so fresh that a quart and a half disappeared in two days. BUT the main reason I'm writing this is for the gentleman that makes one of the TOP THREE pastas I've had IN HAWAII. First is probably Uni pasta (or something else pasta) from Arancino Kahala. Second is La Cucina. Third, but coming up very close is this random never would have suspected it farmer's market pasta. Carbonara and Amatriciana. Just get those. It's gonna take 30 minutes, even if you get there early. It's one guy making pasta from scratch, fresh, with noodles and sauces that he made from scratch. Just put your order in, go buy your veggies and bread, wander around to look at booths, then come back. My boyfriend hates waiting in line but he said he would wait an hour for this. We left some of it out and ate it five hours later and it was STILL delicious, even all cold. Even the best restaurant stuff you save isn't THIS good later on. I don't like that I spilled this secret spot, but I really hope he opens his own restaurant one day, if he wants to. I would eat his pasta and bread every day and enjoy every pound that I put on!

It's neither the biggest nor the best game in town, but still rocks my socks off…read more Ok, I've been here one time only, but this teeny market gets one star for being right on my way home to the windward side, one star for some super sweet vendors, and 20 stars for that A-MAZING chocolate chip cinnamon-type-roll-thing I jammed down my throat while I was perusing the produce and flowers. I'd go back and wait in line just to taste that sweet goodness one more time. Can you see the afterglow on my face? Yep, that's from the roll. I'd love to see this market get bigger, with a few more produce vendors so there's some more competition for prices -- great variety of ready-to-consume eats though, and the perfect place to stop for a quick n cheap din on the way home.
