We're only staying one night in Munich between Prague and Stuttgart. There was a special event…read moregoing on this weekend, so most of the hotels in town were booked or over priced. This hotel is about 20 minutes out of the city, and when we came in at 9pm, seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere. But it was a short walk from the S-Bahn, and a straight shot to the Stadtmitte and Main Train Station which makes it convenient, if not out of the way. The reception was happy to accept our late check in (we emailed in advance) and the room we were given was big and on the first floor. It has a little sitting area with a couch and a kitchenette with free coffee and tea service, but a charge for other drinks and snacks in the mini bar. Comfortable, clean and convenient. Pretty cheap too. Can't get much better than that.

Summary: Really one of the better hotels I've stayed at in Munich in this price range…read more Rooms: Much bigger than normal, and most of the rooms have a queen bed. Several also have a bedroom separate from the living room. Good noise insulation, quiet. Amenities: Good overall, my only complaint (and this is a big one for me) is the gym is just not adequate. They just have one elliptical, one treadmill, and one bike. No weights, machines, etc. That just isn't enough for me, or most Americans. They have the space.. even if they just added one elliptical (so there would be 2) and a basic set of dumbbells that went to 50 lbs and had a freestanding bench that would be a huge improvement (if they did, I'd up this to 5 stars). Service: Pretty good overall. They struggle a bit when you get outside of the normal requests, but once the women who work at the desk know who you are, they really are much better than most I've encountered about trying to be helpful and providing good customer service. There have been a few instances where I was really been in a bind and they went WAY out of their way to help me.

This hotel exceeded my expectations BY FAR! Hands down, 5 star review for all of the staff,…read morecleanliness, location and comfort. The staff went above and beyond for us and made a point to make conversation anytime we were around. They were all so nice. Caroline checked us in and really made us feel comfortable. Since we got in super early and our rooms were not ready, Caroline held our luggage for us so we could go out and explore the city until our check in time. That was a great perk! The front desk also has a full bar open 24/7 with a super great, crisp beer on draft. You're basically breathing on the old city but not having to pay the prices of staying there. It took my family and I about 15 minutes to walk over. We actually preferred staying outside of it and found some really cool spots. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Central Train Station. Super convenient! I recommend going to "Cafe & Bäckerei Mauerer - Schillerstraße" also called "Mauerer" for Breakfast. 4 minute walk from Hotel and over 800 reviews on google. For Dinner, there's a spot 4 minutes in the other direction called "Münchner Stubn." Absolutely incredible food. We tried all the touristy places and this one took the win for food quality, service and awesome prices! I would, without a doubt, stay here again! One of the best hotel stays I've ever had.

Stayed at Hotel Drei Löwen on my trip to Munich last year. I wanted a hotel close to Munich…read moreHauptbahnhof train station as this was on the tail end of my trip and this hotel fit the bill. In addition to being a street or two away from the train station, there is a underground staircase to the train station just down the block. The area around the hotel is a little bit dodgy, but wasn't nearly as sketchy as online reviews made it out to be. Personally felt it wasn't nearly as bad as walking in some places in Seattle where I reside. Just be careful and walk with a purpose. As for the hotel, the interiors are quite nice. I was able to check in early, but unfortunately when I entered my room it wasn't ready yet! I went back down to the front desk and housekeeping was able to get it cleaned shortly thereafter. Aside from that hiccup, I didn't have any other issues. The room was on the smaller side, but felt comfortable with the AC on blast. The room has a minibar fridge, but didn't have a coffee and tea service. But I did appreciate that the room had some bar items like a bottle opener and wine and beer glasses for enjoying libations. I wouldn't recommend this hotel being your main place to stay in Munich given the neighborhood being a little shady. I would rather stay closer to Karlsplatz and Marienplatz. But if you are looking for a good hotel that is close to Munich Hauptbahnhof, this hotel would fit the bill.
