I would love to be able to fully embrace and promote this fairly large, yet quaint, boutique hotel. The hotel is fairly new appearing, the rooms are nice, fairly quiet, in general clean appearing, and comfortable. Conversely, I encountered some problems with the hotel; mostly with the staff/management attitude(s). Examples: 1. I am allergic to feathers and so I called down after finding there were feather pillows and comforters in the room. The response I got was: "We are an upscale hotel and don't use any synthetic products". When I explained that I was allergic to feathers, his response was: "Just sleep without a pillow"; and to the comforter also being filled with feathers, no response, other than an implied "sleep without the comforter". 2. The included breakfast was quite nice and "full" and would have been very pleasant had it not been for the staff attitude. Some of the staff was very pleasant, others not so much. We wanted a leisurely breakfast and even though the breakfast area was not overly full, the feeling I got from some of the staff was "what can I do to get you to leave". More than half of the staff did not smile or present themselves in a pleasant manner. 3. Lastly, I felt the management was unethical. Munich had a rather large snowstorm and the airport closed forcing most passengers to need to find lodging. Hotels in the area filled up quickly. This hotel quadrupled the price of a room, going from €165 to €665 per night. This price-gouging on passengers that were already stressed was not easy to take. I can understand when hotels "fill up" and the only rooms available are their junior- and full-suites to charge the customary going price for those rooms; however, quadrupling the price of a simple room simply due to "supply and demand" does not seem ethical. In summary, I wish I could say I would love to return to Erding, Germany as it appears to be a lovely "thermie" town. I don't like writing less than supportive reviews, but I don't feel I can write a fully complimentary review on this one!
