First visit to one of CAMRA's award-winning pubs in the North Cheshire area. My wife and I were incredibly impressed by the service, the choice of excellent ales and the prices. The recently installed manager made us all welcome (local CAMRA executive meeting), checked that we had all we needed and then provided refreshments during the break in our meeting.
The pub is, as usual with Wetherspoons, a superb conversion, providing a huge dining and general area, but also some secluded areas. There seems to be a large outside area under cover for the summer and/or smokers.
The usual "cheap and cheerful" Wetherspoons menu is available - personally I love their food, even though it relies heavily on the microwave; I don't see that as a problem when I want a quick meal when out and about.
There is a very large car park very close to the pub - my wife walked it in a couple of minutes and she recently had one of her knees replaced and is waiting for the other one, so not 100% mobile.
The entire pub is well-kept and clean, toilets among the best.
All-in-all, if this were nearer to our home, I wouldn't go to many other pubs. read more
