They were so gentle, caring and engaging with her, doing a thorough job with her exam and making all the recommendations for her treatment. I appreciated that these were prioritized and the team let me know the "really should do" versus the "nice to do". Our poor little girl had a rough start in life but now I know she's in good hands at home and has docs that truly care. The prices are reasonable and they don't push any unnecessary care or products on you, but do provide great information about things like pet insurance and rebates on medications. Dr. Nicolle was amazing and showed Secret Agent Mittens as much love as I do - you can't go wrong at the Poulsbo Animal Clinic!

Dr. Adams is not the problem in this clinic, it is his staff and the communication between them all. I was quoted an amount of $180-280 for services (the difference was called a "med buffer" by the tech. This amount, I was told by the vet tech, would cover the best case scenario: sedation, checking out the abscess to be sure it was in fact an abbesses and the antibiotics to try to take care of it. The tech said the dr. would call me to discuss further. When Adams called to say the cat needed a larger procedure that would cost about $1000 to drain the abscess, I asked to hold off and to sit with just the antibiotics I had discussed with the tech (through the weekend). On Monday I would revisit the draining if necessary as it was very pricy. Adams said ok. I was never told this would cost anything above what the tech and I had discussed ("up to $280" she had said, depending on meds) When we went to pick her up that evening, they said the bill was $440. (No longer the max of ~$280, as discussed with the vet tech) The tech never showed me the computer screen breakdown of costs NOR did she give a print-out. At any other vet you receive a print-out of treatment. This office had the audacity to ask me later on the phone: "well, did you even ask for a copy?" Nice business practices? No. Now I see why the Poulsbo Veterinary Clinic had immediate availability today and other vets did not- they are failing their clients.

I'm sure my spouse, a Yelp Elitist, previously posted the extraordinary love and care Dr. Perisho and her staff showed our late Addie, our Scotty-Matriarch and irreplaceable companion to my wife for nearly ten years. I guess Cancer does not discriminate...even our beloved furry family members are susceptible to the big-C. I know her memory lives on not only in our hearts, but also to those who cared for her at Poulsbo Marina. Just a side comment...Google asked us about the price of veterinary care. It is sort of an unfair question. First, there can be no price put on the love of any family member, even our furry friends. Second, the reality of healthcare in our country is a war in and of itself. Unless physicians of any kind are financially independent, or receive substantial donations, any costs incurred on the practice will be "felt" by their patients. What I'm saying is all healthcare is expensive especially when we don't often plan ahead. We believe that costs at Poulsbo Marina are fair. However, the love and care we've experienced this last year is priceless!

I'm going to be more than a little verbose here, so please bear with me. My wife and I met "Winnie"…read morewhile on a trip to Death Valley and southern Nevada. Having left our two dogs with a house sitter, we looked forward to fewer complications while camping, etc. Then we stopped at a gas station on the Oregon and Nevada border. There sat what appeared to be a miniature, mostly black German Shephard with a badly injured leg and paw, starving and very thirsty. Nobody at the gas station had any idea who the dog's owner might be; no name tag, etc. We could not leave this dog there to die a miserable death, so she joined us for two more weeks on our journey. We stopped at the nearest vet in Winnemucca, NV, and got her bandaged up for the short term. This vet indicated significant neurological damage to the leg and paw. Our next stop was an emergency vet in Las Vegas for further assessment. Same overall assessment, the leg would probably need to be amputated. Over the next two weeks, we learned that Winnie had never been on a leash before, loved people, and could travel for hours at a time in our vehicle without a complaint. Upon arrival home, we had Winnie assessed again by our local vet. Same story, severe leg, paw, muscle, tendon and neurological damage. Amputation was suggested. I resisted all those assessments and decided to look for a vet who might be able to help Winnie keep her leg. This is where Dr. Finn comes in. When we explained Winnie's situation and condition, her office indicated, "No! Don't amputate her leg! Dr. Finn can help her!" THAT was what I was hoping to hear! This is precisely the type of treatment Dr. Finn is dedicated to; for dogs and their owners. Winnie began undergoing a series of weekly laser treatments to allow her "frozen" elbow to gain flexibility, use stem cells to heal two toes that were mostly missing, a raw open wound in their place, and begin work for fitting a brace. Over several months, Winnie's progress continued, and her brace is currently being readjusted. Unfortunately, the story does not have the ending we hoped for. While Winnie was very submissive with our older, larger male dog, she desperately wanted our younger, smaller dog to play, and was quite "in our little's dog's face", nipping, barking, etc., insisting on play. This resulted in endless growling and snapping from our other small dog, creating ongoing anxiety and tension in the house. We worked on this for several months without success. Then came a couple of aggressive attacks by Winnie on our smaller female dog. My wife contacted Dr. Finn who commented that the "female on female" aggression, and the fact that both come from a background of being "streetdogs" as pups, this can be very dangerous for the smaller dog. My wife's reading indicated the same. Now we had owner depression. Earlier in Winnie's treatment, Dr. Finn and her husband said they loved Winnie and indicated that if we were ever unable to keep her, they would to take her. That time had arrived. With the saddest of hearts, buckets of tears, and way too much guilt, we came to the conclusion that the best outcome for Winnie was to live with Dr. Finn and her husband. She'll have a built in pack of male dogs where she will surely peacefully submit, horses to check out, a large rabbit who Winnie loves, acres of land to explore, an office staff who loves her, and endless sniffing opportunities. Logic dictates that this was a better "Winnie ending" than we had any right to expect. Winnie will require ongoing vet treatment which Dr. Finn can provide. Wow! This is a one in a ten million possibilitiy! So... Winnie is no doubt the big winner here. We will try to focus on Winnie's gain and less on our loss; though that will be a challenge for me. We cannot adequately thank Dr. Finn, her husband, and her staff, for what they are doing for "our girl." May the force be with you, Winnie... With endless love and memories, Doug and Harriet LeClair Anacortes, WA

It has now been several months since she started wearing her brace, and we've have great success with it. Her muscle tone on her hurt leg (which had atrophied quite significantly after her injury) has improved greatly. Wanagi has been going to her swimming sessions with Dr. Finn, and she absolutely loves it! I've seen great improvement with the swimming. Thank you Dr. Finn!!

Despite being one of the hardest evenings for us, from the moment we walked in, the entire team treated both our cat and our family with extraordinary compassion. Even in such an emotional moment, we felt informed, supported, and respected. They cared for our cat with such tenderness and dignity, anticipating our needs, giving us space to grieve, and surrounding us with warmth during a difficult time. We also received a touching bereavement card signed by the team. No one ever wants to need an emergency vet for a moment like this, but I cannot imagine being in better hands. Their empathy, professionalism, and humanity made an unbearable situation just a little more bearable. I explained my Seattle vet told me if she was drinking a lot of water 9she was)she may have calcium in her blood which is painful and I should get a blood test. I I live halftime in Kitsap and need a vet here as well. The receptionist told me they were not seeing people in their office due to Covid. this is surprising as it's March 1 and Congress is even meeting on mask today but whatever. I said that I really wanted to see a vet because I'm worried about other tumors growing where and how to know if she's in pain she said that wasn't possible I said well then maybe I'll just get the blood draw and got an appointment. I called today to send Cleos diagnostic labs and asked that since it was 50° and dry might the vet consider coming outside to look at Cleo after his exam with me she said she would ask him. I arrived called in I asked if the vet was flexible she hadn't asked yet. Then after 15 minutes a tech came out and wanted to take CLeo in. I asked if the vet had said he would come out after, he said he didn't know and I explained I wanted to know if these lumps on her back which I pointed out were tumors. He came back out a few minutes later to show me where her glands were he showed me the glands in her neck I said I really want to know where the two sets of anal glands are , and he said the lumps might be tumors. I said maybe I should just get the blood work done he said the vet does the bloodwork. I said, not the tech? No, so he and the vet won't come out so he took Cleo in. 12 minutes later I get a call .the vet asked me how I was. I said not great. He then he asked me does Cleo have anal carcinoma of theadipine carcinoma? Confused why he was asking, I asked him if he had seen the lab results.( this might have been a time to make a connection, offer condolences?) He asked me if I would work with him? I said yes, I didn't know the diagnostic terms but I knew she had anal cancer . He asked me again if I would work with him .I felt like I was being interrogated and I asked him was he going to work with me .No answer,he said he'd be happy to refer me to another vet. I felt frantic ,said I need information why should I pay you if I'm not getting any information. He said you don't have to pay me I'll just refer you. At that point I was hopeless so I just said fine goodbye.(all According to phone record I understand every office has policies but these policies resulted in unkind treatment and a failure to assist. At no point in any of these conversations was I offered any sympathy or understanding let alone compassion. I think my request was reasonable and Covid safe yet received no consideration I think policy became inhumane whether intended or not. I was very hurt and disappointed, and left more afraid them when I arrived . I was treated as an annoyance rather than a worried anxious owner of a terminal pet . My fears of a lack of communication proved entirely true and I believe that this this office has led policy to fail compassion and kindness. I never saw the vet so I don't know if he was good but I certainly wasn't able to have any faith . 9
