Bella. She is a very dark grey, almost black. Great cat!

When we saw the cat in the cage, she looked at my wife and said "meow". They opened the cage and she walked into my wife's arms. She has turned out to be the perfect cat for us. We re-named her "Bella" because there was no Sadie about her. She is friendly to us, very tidy and a great cat to sleep with. She even helps make the bed!

The facility is very clean and the staff clearly cares about the animals. I went in to adopt a cat and we had a very thorough counseling to ensure we would go home with the right cat, each animal also comes with it's own paper trail of personality traits etc. I really recommend this place because all of the animals are happy and you can see they actually play with them and take a lot of effort to socialize them and re-home them to caring families.

I love this shelter. The staff is compassionate, knowledgeable and very helpful. I adopted my first shelter animal 12/31/16..a cat name Sundae. I love her. George and Karen were so helpful and patient as I picked out my first shelter animal. I thank each and every person in the shelter for everything you do to save the lives of these animals. I did get a very good cat! She chose me. Sincerely, Stephanie Sherrard Silverdale, WA

Poor experience here. We went to adopt a cat. Filled out paperwork. Was told we would hear back…read morewithin a week if we were 'approved' for the cat, and nothing if not. A few days later, we got a call that we were approved! Yea! the little kitten Franco would soon be ours! (after growing a bit and shots and spay) However, during that conversation, we let slip in conversation that we travel sometimes.... OOPS! The next day a text arrived saying - "we are sorry but I regret to inform you that Franco was promised to another applicant." and the text mentioned that they will not be approving applicants who "travel" in the future. SO - after a little more research here is what I found if you want to be "approved": 1. Own a home (renters discriminated against) 2. Have a Vet who knows you (yes you must provide a vet's phone number and they will call) 3. Have no other pets (multi-pet families discriminated against) 4. Have no social appearance or mannerisms that might be "off-putting" 5. Do not mention that you might travel with or without the future pet 6. Probably other "factors" considered, but the process is completely opaque, so who knows? The bottom line - if you want to deal with an organization that is discriminatory, capricious, and unprofessional that is staffed by controlling fearful neurotic people, then this IS your place! As for me, I'm done. Probably done with PetSmart as well since they obviously condone this kind of behavior. Sheesh.

We first encountered Max months earlier while showing a home to clients. He appeared severely underweight and in poor condition, so we contacted Regional Animal Services to request a wellness check. The owners ultimately surrendered him, and wanting to help, we later signed up to become foster volunteers so we could give him a chance to recover in a safe home. During the week Max lived with us, we experienced him as a very sweet and gentle dog. As he began to settle in, his personality really started to come out. He loved going on walks and would wiggle with excitement when he saw his leash. He also got along well with our resident dog and showed no signs of aggression in our home. When Max developed signs of an ear infection, we contacted the shelter and were asked to bring him in for a veterinary visit. Upon entering the shelter, Max clearly became nervous. And during that visit an incident occurred, and he was placed into quarantine. We were later informed that due to his decline while in quarantine, the decision was made to euthanize him. This outcome has been heartbreaking for us. We stepped forward to foster Max because we believed he deserved a chance to heal and eventually find a loving home. In the short time he was with us, he showed us a kind and affectionate personality that we will never forget. While we respect that shelters must sometimes make difficult decisions, the way this situation unfolded has left us feeling deeply saddened and frustrated. We wish there had been more communication and consideration of the dog we experienced in our home before things escalated to this outcome. Because of how this experience was handled, we have made the difficult decision that we will no longer volunteer or foster through this organization. Max deserved compassion, patience, and careful evaluation. We will always remember the sweet dog who came into our home and quickly became part of our daily lives. He deserved the opportunity to continue healing and experiencing the love he had just begun to find. See more of Max here:

Barking. At drop off, the groomer appeared nervous. My dog is highly intelligent and clearly picked up on her body language and tone. Fifteen minutes later, I received a call saying my dog's barking made her afraid and I needed to pick her up. When I arrived, I observed the groomer wearing noise canceling headphones. Huskies and shepherds are vocal breeds. Vocalization is not aggression. Excluding a dog for normal breed behavior is inappropriate. As a special education teacher, I strongly believe in accommodations and inclusion. However, if someone has anxiety or is sensory sensitive, working with animals in a loud grooming salon may not be the right job. The responsibility should not be placed on the animal or the customer. Being told to remove my dog for simply barking after years of consistent business was unacceptable. This showed a lack of breed knowledge and professionalism. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

I've been to several shelters in the past year to adopt and it's been up and down. I went here on a Saturday after work and brought home my fur ever baby girl. I'm a proud happy fur mom . This is the happiest day of my life . I cried so many tears of joy when I was able to adopt my new female dog. I named her Sasha. Previously known as Oldsmobile. Sasha is the absolute sweetest girl ever. Sasha is what my heart needed. As a puppy she is very smart. Introducing to crate has been fairly well. Eating wow this girl can eat, run, do sprints around the house, yard and is super excited. I am too lol. Potty training is going very well in the morning she wakes me up with kisses to say she has to go and stands by door we go out. We have a routine. Totally recommend Homeward Per adoption to everyone. You will never be disappointed. The accept donations from you if your pet has passed away, been surrendered or you just want to donate, food, toys, supplies for dogs and cats. We've been trying for a week to get our puppy in here to finish enrollment in one of their "wellness" plans that they'll never push on everyone and it's been so incredibly frustrating. Twice now we've had to deal with appointments made online not showing in their system, then when we finally get one in their system, we end up dealing with multiple phone calls because they want to keep changing his appointment to meet their staffing needs. Less than 24 hours before his appointment they call to ask if we can reschedule to an earlier time, it's not ideal, but I can take a bit of time off work to make it happen so I agree. Then the morning of his now rescheduled appointment they call again asking if we can move it to a completely different day because they don't have staff. Seriously??? You want me to rearrange my entire calendar because your office can plan staffing? I tell them I'll have to call back after speaking with my spouse, and when I call back I immediately get put on hold. Hung up after 10 minutes of being on hold. I get being short staffed, but if you don't have the staff to ensure that you can take in patients then don't advertise and hard sell an expensive annual plan that customers will never be able to use. Our dog was never actually seen by anyone at this office, we've decided to find a more professional and reliable vet in the area to care for our puppy, if this is our experience as a potential new customer I can only imagine how much worse it gets once they have you locked into an annual plan.
