The Lafayette Theatre is a bonafide single screen movie palace from a time when Lon Chaney haunted the rafters and Clara Bow flashed a little "It Girl" ankle to scandalized movie audiences all over the civilized world. To a generation weaned on the squalor of the multiplex and the sonic overload of the High Definition Man Cave, the Lafayette is a living testament to the grandeur and wonderment of going to the movies when doing so was an event and television was still a science fiction glimmer. Thankfully, the Lafayette is a registered historical landmark that still shows contemporary films and the occasional silent picture with keyboard accompaniment. It's a fantastic night out and an unforgettable experience even if you leave the Doozy at home.

But it strengthens my belief that they care more about it being a business and making money rather than caring about the students and their growth and journey through music. Our guests absolutely loved the versatility and variety of food during cocktail hour. There was something for everyone, and we received so many compliments about how delicious and beautifully presented everything was. The food was definitely a highlight of the evening! The club has a lovely cottage on site, that i was able to stay in the night before and night off. Loved not having to travel that day. The ceremony and reception were all on site. I have to give a special thank you to Maria, my bridal attendant, who was absolutely amazing. She was with me from the moment I woke up for breakfast, started getting ready, took us around to the best spot for our photos, and made sure I had everything I needed. She also made sure my groom and bridal party were taken care of, and even kept an eye on the needs of my mother and our four-month-old baby. Because of Maria, I truly felt like I had nothing to worry about. She allowed me to relax, enjoy every moment, and simply be present on our wedding day. Alana and Laura were also such a pleasure to work with. From helping with vendors, the day of timeline, a walk through the day before, taste test of our menu, selection of menu design, tavle clothes, napkins, signage, layouts, and so much more. They were wonderful partners throughout the planning process and worked with us to ensure our vision came together and that our day was absolutely amazing. Their attention to detail, communication, and willingness to help made such a difference. The venue itself is lovely and provided the perfect vibe for our wedding photos. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the property was, and the entire atmosphere felt elegant, warm, and welcoming. Our wedding day was one of the most important days of our lives, and Paramount Country Club helped make it everything we dreamed it would be. We are incredibly grateful to the entire team for taking such great care of us and our guests. We would absolutely recommend Paramount Country Club to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with amazing food, exceptional service, and a team that genuinely cares about making your wedding day unforgettable!

It was not palatable and looked horrible The meat was served in small blobs or with massive chunks of fat. Presentation awful Pictures below. Someone was served a piece of tiny fish without anything else on plate potatoes or string beans. When he asked for the sides to his meal they acted like nothing was wrong. Chefs should be embarrassed It was a bad reflection on them as well as the staff and country club Hot coffee was served in ice cold cups, so the coffee was cold when you drank Dessert were served without dessert plates Unfortunate this should've been a beautiful event without a flaw . I would never let the host know because it would ruin their party however, if you're looking to plan a party, I would be very skeptical Would not recommend How you could improve it I would get entirely new staff and chef because your venue is beautiful.

In my interactions, I observed a lack of professionalism that deeply troubled me. It is disheartening to report that the organization seemed to harbor a divisive attitude, projecting clear animosity towards anyone not belonging to the Jewish community. This lack of inclusivity raises serious questions about the organization's commitment to diversity and tolerance. For the safety and well-being of young ones, especially those from different racial or religious backgrounds, I strongly advise steering clear of lori fredrics My experience left me with a sense of discomfort and concern, and I believe it is essential to raise awareness about such matters.

The Knickerbocker Ice Festival celebrates the history of the region's 19th century ice industry and is named after the Knickerbocker Ice Company, which harvested ice for global trade from Rockland Lake, where this festival is installed. The 2026 festival, which took place last weekend, featured ice sculptures with live carving demonstrations, snow igloos, bonfires, a woodland portrait installation honoring Ramapough Munsee Lenape women, and historical exhibits under the welcome pavilion. Thanks to the recent snowstorms and cold blasts we've been blessed/cursed with, Rockland Lake froze solid enough to walk on, and adults & kids happily slid around and frolicked on the slippery surface. For a festival, I wish there had been more festivities. Only a handful of ice sculptures dotted the lakefront walk (though they are beautiful and detailed, and were carved live over the festival weekend where yould watch artist Shintaro Okamoto and his crew at work), and limited food options (jerk chicken food truck and bakery - though the bakery ran out of hot chocolate by 2pm on the day we went). We arrived early afternoon of the first day and igloos were still being built by the various sponsorship teams, so perhaps day two saw more action. I later saw photos on social media of ice sculptures looking spectacular against the setting sun, so late afternoon may be the most aesthetic time to visit. I applaud the festival organizers for their extraordinary efforts in bringing back this community-centered winter tradition, and showcasing a unique aspect of Rockland County's history and heritage, as well as the talent and craftsmanship of local artists. I bought a signed monograph written by resident writer Spencer Hirsch which beautifully captures the spirit and poetry of that era. The ice sculptures should be up for as long as this Arctic weather allows, and the pavilion display may remain on view for the rest of the week, so even post-festival, Rockland Lake still makes for a picturesque if frigid outing if you're in the area.
