As an estate sales enthusiast, I have been to sales ran by almost all the companies in Athens. Though this one takes the cake as being the worst. While it is understandable that not all goods may be priced it was unfathomable to me that an unmarked book would be marked up three times more than the listed book price when checking out. Furthermore, I found it off putting that the "designated" price was nonnegotiable when it was a completely arbitrary number to begin with. What sealed the deal for me never returning to a Pence Heritage estate sale was the way in which they handled an "unpriced" sweater. While the sweater did have a price tag on it, I was told upon checking out that the price tag on the sweater was not a "Pence price tag". So once again an arbitrary price was made up which was over double the original attached price tag. On top of this you have to pay sales tax when they don't even have the proper change to give back? What a set of compounding factors that should serve warning to potential estate salers. Please stick to sales by other folks who care about being fair and honest to their customers, your wallet and sanity will thank you. read more

This is really the worst company in athens, I have never went out of my way to check who is running an estate sale as they are just some weekend fun for me, but I will be avoiding pence like the plague. I am just getting home from a sale where books were listed as $1 for paper backs and $2 for hardcovers. I gathered a few making sure they weren't marked as a different price, only for the mean old lady to tell me that they were going to be $20 each! I was expecting to pay $20 for the whole lot because they were unmarked but she decided, as I was on my way out the door, that they were worth more than listed. This isn't the first time she has been rude to me, but it is certainly the last time! Also, cash only? Seriously? I would assume that for the obscene prices you are making up out of thin air that you could afford a chip reader or something. If you are considering hiring this company, please consider another one so I can attend! Edit: Since I see that the owner loves to respond, before you get the chance Sandra I just want to say if almost every review about your company is about how mean and terrible you are to customers, MAYBE it's time for a bit of introspection and self improvement. read more

Zero stars... The woman who runs the estate sales is one of the rudest people I have ever met. Most items not priced and then acts annoyed when you ask how much. You were hired to liquidate an estate for a client not berate customers and behave as if buyers are an inconvenience to you. You're lazy, obnoxious and rude! read more

She is very rude! I have seen her on several estate sales and I have heard her snap at other people because they ask how much something is. She has referred to people as "deadbeats" if they don't agree or choose not to buy something. read more

I highly recommend Pence Heritage to coordinate, organize and host your Estate Sale. I used them for 2 Estate Sales when my Mother passed away. One sale was in Athens and the other was out of town. Sandra does everything needed and takes all the stress off of you during that very stressful very emotional time. You don't have to do anything to get ready .... literally.....you don't have to worry about cleaning out the cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom or worrying about items in the garage ......Sandra and her team come in and stage all of the items for you. She advertises the sale. She has a loyal following that line up hours before the doors open ready to shop. She even did this for a mountain home out of town. When the sale is over.... you walk into a clean empty house. It is amazing. She even sold a car for me. I felt like she honored my Mother's memory and her spirit. She took great care with my Mother's treasures. She knows the value of furniture and collectibles. She does her homework. She is a certified Appraiser. She is connected to specialists in various fields and will reach out to them to research and sell your items. She was very easy to work with and always went the extra mile with my items and working around my schedule.... as well as listening to me and understanding my emotions and need to reminisce about certain items and memories attached to those items. I was coordinating all of this while living 10 hours away. She even helped me move the items I chose to keep. She made sure I used a carrier that specialized in antique furniture and set up the appointment for me. Her company does it all. She sells everything in the house and I think she often helps sell the actual house. I know that there are other companies that do Estate Sales.... but I chose Pence Heritage because I knew she would understand the value of my Mother's possessions. She would respect and honor my Mother. She has an excellent reputation in Athens and a loyal following. She is professional. She took care of everything. I thank her and I recommend her. read more

the lady who takes the money is a rude hateful person. A friend of mine gave her a $100 bill and his items were only 20.79. She only gave him $20 back then made him empty his pockets because she didn't believe him when he told her she only gave him $20 and I stood right there amd watched. she put his change with the $100 under the cash box and then would not even apologize for her mistake or how she treated him read more

The pricing tape pulled the color off of the shoe. I asked to return them with the receipt and was told that I could not return them. I understand that estate/yard sale items many times are not in perfect condition, but it's completely different when the selling company damaged the item! Next time try hang tags!
