I just popped in to kill some time after visiting a nearby business. I did need some shoes, but didn't have any expectations for this store. Upon entering, I was greeted by several employees. I happened to find a pair of $10 Nikes in the kids section. My daughter DID need shoes! I found two sizes, one a slightly different style that was $20. I bought them both, just in case one didn't fit. The cashier asked if I found everything I was looking for. I actually was interested in getting a pair of fall-colored Birkenstock sandals. She directed me to the Birkenstock section, and they had several different styles with a size of each. I found a pair I liked and checked out. They had been sold out on Amazon in my size so I was happy to find them. The price was usual Birkenstock price.The cashier also notified me of their loyalty program, which earned me a $10 coupon upon check out! I had a great chat with the friendly cashier upon check out as well. One pair of the Nikes had to be returned as they were too small. I wanted a pair just like my daughters in the same size, so I called a nearby location. They put them on hold for the next day. I returned the smaller Nikes and purchased the bigger ones quite easily. My loyalty program had my receipt saved in it, so that part was a breeze. I will be returning. read more

I was surprised this store have mediocre ratings. I have been to this store many times over the last few years (mainly when visiting from out of town). They are always friendly and greet you when you come in the store. They go out of their way to help you find the perfect shoe. Today I had the best experience with the sales associate Liz. She must have spent 1 hour with me finding the best shoes for a wedding, a rehearsal dinner and a welcome dinner. The whole time she gave me time to consider the shoes we were looking at yet time managing by working with other customers and checking back with me. She would head to the clearance rack to see if anything might work from there. Always pleasant, very professional, and courteous. They carry a great range of styles and prices. This place is great. My experience with Peltz shoes keeps getting worse and worse. Returned a pair of shoes that were purchased online. I was told they ccouldn't do a credit in store by the manager (Michael) so he sent an email to Emily advising her of the return and credit and gave me a printed copy of the email. Two weeks later now...still NO credit and they are now telling me that they have virtually no record of the shoes ever being returned. Hows that for service ?? I forwarded a copy of the printed email to customer service and they basically said so what. NO CREDIT. Judging from other reviews and my experience with Peltz.They like to take in the money but are not real big on giving back a refund when one is due. Never ever buy anything online from Peltz shoes that you even think you might have to return. Not worth the hassle. read more

This is our go-to store for shoes! Sammy is the best sales associate we know by far. He knows the store and where every shoe is in the blink of an eye. He is knowledgeable as well as friendly--and very quick. If you're in a hurry and have a pair of shoes in mind, Sammy's your guy. Encounter a sales woman today as she offered me assistance. I asked her what Sandals she was wearing as they looked like they'd work for my wide foot and high instep. She said "she wears them All day and she has a high arch and wide foot, what do you think? With an attitude ". We visited Peltz on a Saturday looking for a specific pair of Reeboks that were listed on Reebok.com and it directed us to Peltz. Immediately upon entering the building, we were not acknowledged, which was fine because we knew what we were looking for. However, after going up and down the aisles, looking at various different sneakers, we were never approached by any of the staff. The staff looked like they had retired from other jobs and were either forced to go back to work or just got bored with the retired life. Either way, they were anything but polite or helpful. They didn't carry the sneakers we were looking for anyway, so we browsed for a few more minutes before leaving. My suggestion is to find another shoe store to go to where they care if you make a purchase. Avoid Peltz at all cost. read more

Worst Shoe Store I have ever gone to. University in Sarasota-Three people behind the counter, Asked if someone could get down a box of shoes that was on a shelf, got three "its not my job" replies. They paged an elderly woman to assist me. After having 2 boxes bounce off her head, the shoes were not what the box claimed they were. Thanked her for her time and went to leave. I was at Peltz Shoes to day for the first time and was a little concerned to go there after reading some of the reviews. I decided to go and find out for myself. I have to say I thought the customer service was excellent. I had two different employees that came up at different times to help me find the size I needed. They were not bothersome, just making sure I was okay and were happy to search the computer for me. The selection was excellent, just a little short on size 6 but I am use to that. Yesterday, was Sunday and I made sure to check the website for the store hours before driving 15 minutes to Peltz. The website said they were open until six pm. We arrived at 4:50 pm and noticed the sign on the door with special Memorial Day weekend hours saying that they were closing at 5:00. Fine... However, the tattooed older woman employee at the front desk kept rudely speaking over the loud speaker that they were closing...fine, I understand. I was about to purchase about 400.00 worth of shoes. If she would have given me 5 more minutes to decide, they would have had my business. On they way out, I went up to the counter to inform her that the special Memorial Day weekend hours were not listed on the website, to this...the tattooed woman replied: " Well, they're posted right there"...pointing to the sign on the door..not even taking a moment to look up at me from what she was doing. I was disgusted... Customer service is one of the most important aspects if running a business...they may have a large selection of shoes... But what they have even more of is bad attitudes. If you are a woman, and in need if stylish, comfortable European shoes...there is a way better selection, across the street at Molly's Boutique. Feeling desperate, We went over to the New Balance store after being practically thrown out of Peltz. To my pleasant surprise...I found that Molly's carried more variety of unique women's shoes than Peltz! It's a smaller store, and the customer service was warm and inviting. I purchased two pairs of higher end European shoes...Reikers, which Peltz doesn't even carry....and they were CHEAPER and more stylish than the Merrill's I was going to buy at Peltz. So, even though I felt disgusted with the experience after leaving Peltz...I was happy to find awesome shoes and kind human beings across the street at Molly's! So, if you need shoes, but don't want to risk loosing your soul in search for the perfect pair, avoid Peltz... BTW, I have nothing against tattoos...however, I thought this would be the best way to describe the employee...because, I attempted to call the management... And could t get through. read more

I found a pair of shoes I liked very much that came in several colors and the one I wanted was out of stock, which they ordered for me in the store to be delivered to my home. After patiently waiting for the delivery I finally went in to store to inquire and when they looked up my order I was informed that they refunded my card and shoe is no longer available. Although it's not the stores fault for this happening I also didn't feel the staff was sincerely sorry and I do feel that Peltz should have a way of informing me that the shoes were not going to be sent. I luckily found them on Amazon for $10 cheaper. Sorry Peltz, but customer service is crutial or Amazon will put you out of business. read more

I bought a $130.00 pair of Alegria nursing shoes from the University store and the staff was very helpful and pleasant right up until I wanted to return them for a defect on the shoe 2 weeks later. I had to special order them since they didn't have my size available and wore them once to work and started to notice the top of the shoe "crinkling". I took the shoes in the original box with the receipt back to the store and was treated like a leper for trying to return shoes "not in a resale condition"??? What??? I was told "I should have worn them around the house to break them in and once I wear them out of the house that you could no longer return them"!! I bought a pair of Naot shoes on august 4th for $149. on August 8th I bought a second pair of Naot shoes for over $150. Both pairs were purchased at Peltz shoes in Sarasota. I loved the shoes and even bought a third pair a week later at another store. I noticed that, after four wearings, the first pair was stretched out causing me to trip and that the strap had frayed. on August 24th I went back to Peltz to see if they would either exchange the shoes, repair the shoes, or contact the manufacturer. the store manager would not do any of the above and refused to even discuss options with me. I emailed them 4 times and I got the exact same response on all 4 emails. I love Peltz and a frequent shopper at Brandon store because ti has childern s shoes. I assume all Peltz are run the same but you know what they say about ASSume. The atmosphere and people are different in Bradenton. The staff isnt as friendly. The lady Dee who helped me seemed as if she was there for a paycheck and what I had to say didnt interest her. The manager Michael was just unprofessional just standing around and hanging out behind the counter laughing with a older bald worker. I went to the cashier to purchase two different pairs of shoes. One of the pairs had a price of 29.95, some of the others on the shelf (identical shoes, same model, skew and color) had price tags of 34.95. The pair I wished to purchase, (size 6) had the 34.95 tag on it, the size larger, (size 7), had the 29.95 tag on it. When I asked the manager if he would honor the 29.95 price since others on the shelf were marked with that he said he would not as the pairs that had the 29.95 tags on had been mis-marked. His comment, "Pelze is run by humans, and humans make mistakes." When i asked him if he was willing to lose the sale of two pairs of shoes for $5.00 he said yes and then proceeded to go to the boxes of shoes in question and change the ones that had the 29.95 tags on them. I left the store purchasing only one pair of shoes...Pelze lost the sale on another pair. Interestingly enough, several of the store employees commented they would have handled the situation differently. I have always found the store employees very helpful. However, this manager needs to be retrained in customer service. I will not return. read more
